After water, hospitals and 400 km of tarmac roads in the slum areas of Nairobi, GOK has set its eyes on the education infrastructure within the urban poor areas of Nairobi. In partnership with Germany and Kuoni Architects, GOK has undertaken a kshs 5 billion project to transform public primary and secondary schools in slums into academic oases.
The project involves renovations and upgrades that will drive the best private schools back to the drawing board and to rethink education infrastructure. The project will also act as a template for a wider kshs 150 billion plan to transform school infrastructure all across the country.
The first phase of the project has targeted 28 primary and secondary school in Nairobi slums with new facilities and much needed renovations .

28 primary and secondary schools have had new construction and rehabilitation of approximately 800 classrooms, 250 ancillary rooms, sports grounds, kitchens and sanitary facilities (1200 toilets) offering new and improved learning facilities for over 40,000 students
