Thabeet, who Americanized his name from Hashim Thabit Manka....

"Holywood"
You can't miss him either - besides his height. If Thabeet isn't flashing his 1,000-wat smile, it's sunglasses. Or a pair of flashy earrings. Or a scarf. Imagine that: a 7-foot-3 Tanzanian rocking a scarf.
"He's Hollywood Hasheem," Sellers said.
And he's always been. On Thabeet's first visit to Storrs, he walked into Gampel Pavilion for a shootaround prior to the Huskies' game with Louisville dressed in a white velour sweat suit and sunglasses.
"And everybody was like, ‘Why is he wearing sunglasses?'"
Nimekusikia Kaka/Dada Capitol Hill,
Ahsante kwa muongozo wako.
Kama haya maswala ya off-court antics yana purukusa mada basi naacha, naacha kwa kuheshimu ulivyokuwa so cultured and genial ulivyo niasa.
Bila kupigana vikumbo kaka/dada Capitol Hill, nikueleze kifupi kwa nini niliona hili linahusiana na hapa.
Thread inaitwa "Hasheem Thabeet: The Tanzanian Phenome." Leading post ya thread ina kichwa "Thabeet Is Big Man Off Campus."
Sasa baada ya kuona kuna discussions za jinsi kijana anavyo ji carry out off the court, nikaona sio vibaya ku elevate the issues to more important dimensions of his public presentment and demeanor, zile ambazo zinaweza kumsababisha matatizo mbeleni.
And you would think, or we grew up believing, that Americans are of a more decadent culture than us Tanzanians, Africans. Only to find out that even the problem child of Chicago Bull Joachim Noah who put on a some flip flaps to the white after the Gators won NCAA had spotted a business suit. Sembuse mbongo Mtanzania, Thabeet. You said it Capitol Hill. And I thought that was a perspicacious point you made there. That public antic when he met the president was over the top. Siku hizi kwenye ku recruit wachezaji kuna factor moja ime gain umuhimu, wanatafuta "character athletes." What Thabeet has exuded at times has not been much of judgment and character. I am just saying.
I am just saying.
Mara nyingi kuongelea watu prominent ni kuwaonea wivu. Nikisema mpasua vichwa fulani hakupata ujuzi huo nina wivu. Tukisema waziri fulani credentials zake za nyuma mbona zimepinda hapa tuna wivu. Nikisema kijana mcheza mpira jamani asiendekeze vi scuffle uswahilini you don't want any police contact nina wivu. Haya. Huwa nasema nanyaza.
Capitol Hill ahsante tena kwa mwongozo wako. I'm done talking!

Thabeet humiliated by Monroe in loss
By Zac Boyer, UConnReport.com Editor

PrintHARTFORD, Conn. Nearly three dozen scouts descended on the XL Center to witness what was expected to be a battle inside between Greg Monroe and Hasheem Thabeet.
One little thing happened, however: Thabeet failed to show up.
The junior center, hyped for each of his three seasons at UConn as a potential NBA lottery pick, finished with four points, seven rebounds and seven blocks in the Huskies 74-63 loss to No. 12 Georgetown on Monday.
No heart, no hands, said one scout who wished to remain anonymous.
The defensive numbers could have been more impressive for Thabeet, who easily had his worst outing of the season in the Huskies biggest game. Making things even more devastating for the 7-foot-3 junior was the play of his counterpart: Monroe looked comfortable not only in the paint, but handling the ball on the perimeter, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes.
Its just one of those days, you know? Thabeet said. I couldnt make a shot.
Georgetowns defense was partially to blame. The Hoyas zone tightened whenever the Huskies looked inside to Thabeet or Jeff Adrien, and Thabeet failed to get a hand on the ball on several good looks.
But defensively, Monroe was able to exploit Thabeets growing lack of confidence, running circles around the junior and scoring on backcuts and lay-ups. He even made a pair of 3-pointers over Thabeets reach.
Im not going to comment on any player you saw what you saw, said UConn head coach Jim Calhoun, outwardly discouraged by Thabeets performance. [Conversely], the freshman, Monroe, was just great.
