Agent explains why Biglia used his phone before Milan-Napoli

In the last few days, Lucas Biglia has received some criticism from the AC Milan fans, as a photo of him using his phone before the Rossoneri’s clash against Napoli emerged. Now, his agent has clarified the incident.

On the photos, which were captured by Sky Italia inside the locker room, Biglia, Kessie and Rebic were caught using their phones. Of course, given that all three of them performed poorly, this didn’t go down too well with the fans.

Therefore, speaking to Calciomercato.com, Biglia’s agent Enzo Montepaone has clarified the images. In his words, the Argentine veteran was using the official AC Milan app to check the formation of Napoli.

“Lucas is very sorry for how the images have been interpreted. Biglia wasn’t doing his own thing, just thinking about it is an insult to the exemplary professional that he has always shown to be.

“I would like to clarify: he was simply looking at the Milan app to see the change of formation for Napoli. Biglia is an example for his teammates, nobody has ever questioned his dedication to work and his respect,” he stated.

The Rossoneri will face Parma in a tough away game on Sunday, and Biglia is expected to sit on the bench. Bennacer will return from his one-game suspension with hopes of continuing his good form, thus cementing his spot as the first choice.

Milan and Lucas Biglia are destined to part ways when the midfielder’s contract expires next June, according to a report.
Biglia has received some criticism from the Rossoneri fans, as a photo of him using his phone before the Rossoneri’s clash against Napoli emerged.

On the photos – which were captured by Sky Italia inside the locker room – Biglia, Kessie and Rebic were caught using their phones, forcing Biglia’s agent Enzo Montepaone to come out and defend his client by claiming he was using the official Milan app.

There is also speculation about the 33-year-old’s future at the club given his deal expires next June, and according to the latest from MilanNews.it that will mark the point where he leaves the club.
The report claims that the comments from Montepaone suggest that the relationship between the Diavolo and Biglia is ‘destined to end’ after what will be three years.

It is difficult to imagine him leaving in January given the contract situation and the fact he earns the second-most of any player at the club (as per La Gazzetta dello Sport), but next summer he would then leave for free anyway.

Five AC Milan players back at Pioli’s disposal for Parma-Milan
By Isak Möller - 27 November 2019, 12:
Against Napoli this past weekend, AC Milan struggled with quite a few injuries. During the warm-up, for example, Suso was injured and this forced Pioli to start Rebic on the right wing. However, things are now looking better.

In addition to Bennacer and Calhanoglu, who are back from suspension, the likes of Borini, Castillejo and Suso have recovered. According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it), they will thus be at Pioli’s disposal for Parma-Milan.

Duarte and Rodriguez were also left out of the squad last time out, and it remains to be seen if they will make it back in time for this weekend’s clash. In any case, the manager’s bench will certainly be a lot stronger.

After the 1-1 draw against Napoli, the Rossoneri will be looking to grab the win against Parma. Given their position in the standings (13th), they desperately need it in order to stay within reasonable reach of the top four.

*AC Milan could strike a swap deal with Napoli that would see Lorenzo Insigne arrive at the club, a shock report claims.*

*According to Calciomercato.it,* Insigne is ‘one of the players on the dock’ after the mutiny and the controversy that followed Napoli’s recent Champions League draw with Red Bull Salzburg, during which the players went against Aurelio De Laurentiis’ orders of a training retreat.

Insigne and Allan are the players most targeted by the fine imposed by De Laurentiis, and as a result the relationship between the winger and his hometown club could finally end – especially given that Napoli fans have already shown signs of turning on him.

The report adds that Milan have been interested in the 28-year-old for some time, and with dialogue already opened with his agent Mino Raiola over Zlatan Ibrahimovic and other clients, an exchange could take place.

The outlet suggests an exchange between Insigne and Suso: the Spaniard would represent the ideal profile for De Laurentiis in terms of age and cost, however there is an issue in the fact that the Italian earns a higher salary.

*Insigne has 81 goals and 72 assists in 320 games in all competitions for the Partenopei.*

*Pioli: 'Milan need more quality'*

Stefano Pioli believes Milan are starting to find the right spirit, but give the ball away too cheaply as he returns to face hometown club Parma.

It kicks off on Sunday at 14.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“Over the course of a campaign, there are games that are worth more than the usual three points. We must break down the door and take our opportunities,” said the coach in his press conference.

“Obviously, Parma is my hometown, so this is a special one for me. I have great memories there as a player, less so a coach, as the club was going through a difficult time. But now I am 100 per cent Milanista.

“It won’t be an easy match, so we need to maintain the spirit of our last few games, but improve the technique and quality. We must stop giving the ball away so cheaply.”

Leo Duarte has been ruled out for three to four months with a heel injury, while Lucas Paqueta has not yet fully recovered from a muscular problem.

“I want to thank Leo Duarte publicly, because since I arrived he has always been a great professional, playing through the pain of a pretty clear issue.

“Mattia Caldara is not ready yet, but will play with the Primavera youth team to get some minutes under his belt. Ricardo Rodriguez isn’t in great shape either, but he is another alternative for centre-back.”

Pioli took the entire team out to dinner on Wednesday evening, where they watched Inter beat Slavia Prague 3-1 in the Champions League.

“Europe is Milan’s wheelhouse, so our objective must be getting back into those competitions. I see some things that I like, others that I don’t, because there is no such thing as a perfect performance. We’ve got to rush this process and get results as soon as possible with good football.”

There were reports Krzysztof Piatek would be dropped this weekend, but Pioli doesn’t seem too fond of Rafael Leao either.

“Leao has important qualities, but he is not a centre-forward who really makes the difference in the box and can do a lot more. Piatek fills the penalty area, but didn’t take some good chances to score. He can do better, as can everyone in the squad.

“It’s important that everyone steps on to that field with fire in the belly. We know what Milan’s objective is and are all focused on that path.”

Milan squad for Parma: A Donnarumma, G Donnarumma, Reina; Calabria, Conti, Gabbia, Theo Hernandez, Musacchio, Rodriguez, Romagnoli; Biglia, Bennacer, Bonaventura, Calhanoglu, Kessie, Krunic; Borini, Castillejo, Leao, Piatek, Rebic, Suso

Milan is the team that has lined up the youngest starting team in the 2019-20 Serie A competition.

As reported by @Gazzetta_it with 24 years and 242 days, the Rossoneri are at least a year younger than any other Serie A team.
The Milan team is also among the youngest at continental level, in the five main European championships.

Only Nice (24 years and 56 days) and Lille (24 years and 121 days) fielded an average team with a lower age.

No other AC Milan’s player has scored more goals than Theo Hernández (3) in the current Serie A campaign (level to Piatek). Push.

*Pioli: 'Milan dominated Parma'*

Stefano Pioli believes Milan have turned a corner after their 1-0 win away to Parma. “We had 25 attempts on goal and dominated.”

Theo Hernandez had to pounce on a lucky ricochet at the 88th minute at the Stadio Tardini for their first victory in a month.

“We had over 25 attempts on goal today, but we were clear today, the team knew how important the game was. Even if all matches are worth three points, some mean more than others,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were coming off good performance, albeit not good results, and it was time to bring home the victory. We dominated possession, shots on goal, showed intelligence and determination, so we deserved it.

“At the same time, we must be realistic, as one game doesn’t fix everything. We have many more areas to improve, need to get as many points as possible before the Christmas break, because Milan cannot stay in this position in the table.”

Piatek failed to score again and was hauled off to make way for Rafael Leao an hour in.

“It’s true that Leao doesn’t fill the box like Kris, but we have others who can push forward from midfield. It’s natural that a striker isn’t happy when he doesn’t score goals. We are here to help him and he must allow us to help him.

“When I see players who train hard, have the right attitude and determination, I don’t close to door. I’ve had more positive sensations over the last two-three weeks, I see the players very motivated and taking responsibility for the situation.”

*Massara: 'Ibrahimovic evaluating'*

Milan director Frederic Massara insists “there is no news on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, because this is not a negotiation. He is evaluating his future.”

The Rossoneri visit Parma this afternoon, you can follow all the action as it happens on the LIVEBLOG.

“There is no news on Ibrahimovic, because this is not a negotiation,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.

“He is evaluating his future. He is on the market, but there are no developments.”

The Rossoneri go into this weekend behind Parma in the Serie A table, as Stefano Pioli has one win in his six games.

“We are all aware that Milan represent a glorious history and at times this can feel like a weight on our shoulders, but we are convinced that the team is improving,” continued Massara.

“We’ve got to get into gear, win and improve our position.”
