Inter Milan's ultras have released a damning statement regarding star striker Mauro Icardi, saying the Argentinian hitman "cannot be part" of the club's future due to his poor attitude and mentality.

Icardi's 2018-19 season has been overshadowed by controversy, and the Curva Nord, Inter's ultras, have had enough, per Football Italia:

"We’ve tried to explain it in every possible way.

"Nobody is doubting his technical qualities as a player, but the problem is and always will be tied to his mentality and the attitude he has towards the rest of the squad that he cannot and will never change.

"He had so many chances to reconcile with his teammates in the dressing room and with fans in the Curva, but never took them. That proves he is a player who, for the common good, cannot be part of Inter’s future. He is too superficial."

Last week, his agent and wife Wanda Nara told Tiki Taka (h/t Football Italia) he is determined to stay at the club.

The 26-year-old and the Nerazzurri had an ugly falling-out earlier this season, starting when he was stripped of the captaincy. Per Sky Sport Italia (h/t Goal), manager *Luciano Spalletti then said the player refused to travel to Austria for a UEFA Europa League match against Rapid Vienna, despite being called up.*

He then spent time on the sidelines with an injury, but the situation barely improved when he returned. Spalletti left him out of his squad for the 1-0 loss against Sampdoria and vented in the post-match interview, saying the saga was humiliating, per Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia).

The situation has stabilised since, and Icardi started Inter's most recent match, a 1-1 draw against Juventus. *But per Football Italia, the release of a series of nude photos in which he posed with Nara has added yet another source of frustration for the Curva Nord.*

Ralf Rangnick is closing in on becoming AC Milan’s next head coach, a report claims, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave.

As Wednesday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport reports (via MilanLive), despite the denials of the past few days Rangnick remains in pole position for the Milan bench, and the German is considered the perfect prototype of the coach that Elliott Management is looking for to lead the Rossoneri’s new era.

A coach who makes the team play well, who knows how to improve it and who is capable of shaping young talents into potential top players – as well as finding talents at an early age and then enhancing them and deriving rich capital gains.

Over the past 15 years, in fact, Rangnick has trained four clubs with an average age under 25 years. With Hoffenheim, from 2006 to 2011, he even had a group whose average age was 22.7.

At Schalke 04 he had a team with an average age of 24.7, his most experienced, and it was the side that knocked Inter out of the Champions League. At Leipzig, in the 2015-16 season, he returned to lead a 24.2-year-old team, which then went down to 23.1 in the following years.

Another sign of his possible arrival, the newspaper adds, is the the non-renewal of veterans such as Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura, both of whom are on deals which expire at the end of the season.

There may perhaps be an exception for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a bit like Raul who joined Schalke 04 when he was 34 years old back in 2011 to give Rangnick’s group some experience and leadership. Zlatan could be that same man.

Ralf Rangnick is set to demand a new signing in each department as part of a summer overhaul if he arrives at AC Milan, a report claims.

Wednesday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive) states that the intent of the German is in fact to create a new backbone because it is from this foundation that his teams are built, and it is precisely for this reason that the 61-year-old German would like guarantees before arriving.

The former Schalke and RB Leipzig boss would push for the arrival of a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder and an attacker.

There are some names already in the thoughts of the coach and the ownership: the inevitable sale of Gianluigi Donnarumma would bring a treasure that could be reinvested on Alex Meret of Napoli, with Juan Musso of Udinese the plan B.

For the defence, Rangnick would be ready to shop in the Bundesliga, a league that he knows very well. Eintracht Frankfurt’s impressive 20-year-old centre-back Evan N’Dicka is a name mentioned, but Kristofer Ajer of Celtic and Robin Koch from Freiburg are also monitored.

In midfield, Sandro Tonali is the most ambitious dream. Competition is fierce and Europe’s elite are circling, but the 19-year-old could choose to join his boyhood club Milan who could guarantee him a starting position.

In attack, as a replacement or team-mate for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the name of Arkadiusz Milik remains warm but also an eye to Timo Werner. The 24-year-old Leipzig striker is a godson of Rangnick, but it would take at least €50million to sign him.

Milan are interested in Real Betis right-back Emerson, according to Mundo Deportivo newspaper. They state Milan are keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old. Barcelona bought him from Atletico Mineiro for €12m in the summer of 2019 and left him on loan at Real Betis to gain experience until June 2021. He’s had an excellent Liga season, with three goals and five assists in 23 games.

Benfica remain interested in the idea of signing midfielder Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan which could set up an interesting swap deal, it is claimed.

Milan's midfield looks set undergo a revolution during the next transfer window with several players seemingly under threat. Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are on expiring deals while Franck Kessie could leave for the right price, but Paqueta seems to be the most puzzling dilemma.

A €35m investment was made to sign him from Flamengo in January 2019 but after a rough few months with Milan there has been speculation that his time at San Siro could already be up.

As Tuttosport reports, Benfica are still interested in the Brazil international and therefore are ready to step up to the plate if Paquetà and Milan agree that a separation is best.

The challenge then is to convince the 22-year-old, who would perhaps prefer a major league. It is possible that Florentino Luis – a defensive midfielder who Milan have appreciated for some time – could join the deal as an equal counterpart, with both players reportedly valued at €30m.

Galliani on Sheva : "Sheva was not sold by Milan, he wanted to go to London to Chelsea . It was his decision, not mine or that of President Berlusconi. We tried until the last day to convince him to stay, but he wanted to go to Chelsea. "

AC Milan are interested in Italian prodigy Samuele Ricci, a midfielder that Empoli president describes as better than Bennacer.

Empoli prodigy Samuele Ricci is the latest ‘Made in Italy’ talent that ended up on the orbit of the Rossoneri. Born in 2001 and part of Italy Under-19, Ricci is a quick and effective midfielder with defensive attitudes. This season the 18-year-old has made 21 appearances with Empoli in Serie B.

Fabrizio Corsi talked about AC Milan’s interest and the player’s characteristic in an interview with Tuttosport. For the president of Empoli, Samuele Ricci is ready for a big leap forward: “Yes, I think he is ready. Because he has a great gift, which is mental strength. If he makes a mistake, he doesn’t hide. He immediately bonces back and stays in the game. This is a signal of great personality and not suffering the pressure in difficult situations. I consider him on the level of Bennacer and Traore, who are doing very well in Serie A“.

In fact, according to Empoli president, the 18-year-old midfielder is even better than Ismael Bennacer who has already become a beacon in AC Milan’s midfield. “Ricci has a superior engine for me. He has a beautiful physical structure that can still be improved. He is an excellent athlete, there is ample room for growth. Tactically, the coach sees him as a man in front of the defense, but he can also play comfortably as central midfielder. The boy is smart. And he is predestined for greatness“.

Regarding AC Milan, at the moment there is only an exploratory phase as reported by the president. No real contacts, much less an ongoing negotiation: “I’m not surprised by the interest in him. They have have not asked us to buy Samuele Ricci, it is good to specify it, but there have been many testimonies of high esteem by all the big Italian clubs. But beyond appreciation, it’s not the time to think about these things“.

Last summer two Empoli players joined AC Milan. Corsi, in this regard, says he is very enthusiastic for Bennacer: “He is doing very well and I am sure he will be able to continue improving, because Ismael has the talent and quality to become a great player in that role“. That hasn’t been the case for Rude Krunic: “Rade was unlucky because of injuries, but when he replaced Kessie, I saw him do well. I wish him to do better next year“.

Milan have recalled all of their foreign-based players in the event training resumes early next month.

There is growing optimism that Serie A clubs will be allowed to start group-based activities again on May 4, when phase two of Italy’s coronavirus response is expected to kick in.

With that in mind, reports claim Milan have asked their overseas squad members to be back on the peninsula by next Thursday.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the players in question are Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rafael Leao, Hakan Calhanoglu, Simon Kjaer, Asmir Begovic and Lucas Paqueta.

MilanNews.it, meanwhile, adds Ante Rebic and Franck Kessie to that list.

Before they can return to the club’s training ground, they must isolate at home for two weeks

Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo is sending out feelers for Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, claim reports in France, but the price-tag is €30m.

According to le10sport, Leonardo has personally approached Bennacer’s entourage and his old Rossoneri contacts to ask about his availability this summer.

The 22-year-old Algeria international only joined Milan in August 2019, signing from Empoli for €16m plus bonuses.

Although Leonardo had already left the Rossoneri by then, he had been involved in the early negotiations.

It seems the Brazilian has not forgotten Bennacer and would like to bring him to Paris.

However, the report states that Milan won’t even sit down to the negotiating table for under €30m.
