French centre back Mohamed Simakan is one of the transfer targets of AC Milan for the defence.

AC Milan are also looking in France to strengthen the squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. One of the targets of most interest for the Rossoneri is Mohamed Simakan.

According to reports from RMC Sport, AC Milan first made an unsuccessfully attempt to buy Simakan in January. However, the Rossoneri have not abandoned the idea of signing the 19-year-old centre back and are offering 15 million euros to convince Strasbourg to sell their most prized asset. Until the Coronavirus outbreak he had made 25 appearances in all competitions.

Strasbourg aim to capitalize on the high interest in Simakan and hope to start a bidding war for his services. Besides AC Milan, Tottenham, Red Bull Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Southampton are the other clubs in the race for Simakan. Badou Sambague, his agent, recently offered an update on the future of the French defender.

“In this very complicated period, talking about transfers is not a priority, but it is obvious that opportunities exist for Mohamed. Leaving Strasbourg in the summer is an option. But first there is a season to close, then we will make talks with the club“.

🎙️ Antonio Donnarumma on Instagram

"There were a lot of great goalkeepers, when I was little, I always looked at Oliver Kahn because I liked his parades and his charisma."

Alessandro Nesta on Instagram (interview with Christian Vieri):

If Lazio hadn't sold you to Milan, would you stay there?

I would probably stay there for the rest of my life, but I don't regret my decision. Looking at what happened to me in Milan, I can say that I did very well. Milan has allowed me to achieve great things. Thanks to Milan I became an international player.

Do you miss football?

Yes. Everyone who ends their careers says no, but I would be a liar if I said that. For the first six months I had a vacation, but then I fell into crisis. After 2 years, Materazzi encouraged me to resume my career in India. My wife made me do it because I became unbearable (laughs). Now I'm gaining experience as a coach, but it's not the same. Playing football and training a team are completely different worlds.

Massimo Ambrosini for Sky Sport 24:

Milan was my life. I spent 18 years there. Milan was the most important aspect of my life right after my family. Everyone's life path is changeable and varied. However, nothing takes away memories, feelings and love that has survived.

🗣 Alessandro Nesta: "After winning the Champions League in my first year I thought I could relax and still play at this club for 10 more years.

"The following summer #ACMilan bought Jaap Stam and I immediately got the message that no player is bigger than the club."

AC Milan consider Hakan Calhanoglu to be unsellable, a report claims, and Ralf Rangnick could have big plans for the midfielder.

As Tuttosport reports today (via MilanLive ), Calhanoglu will be a key figure once again next season despite the fact his contract is expiring in 2021 and regardless of who will be the next Rossoneri head coach.

The paper notes how the Turkey international arrived as part of the 2017 summer transfer window during which €230million was spent on over 10 players by Yonghong Li and the new Chinese ownership.

Under Vincenzo Montella and Gennaro Gattuso he played a key role just as he did even with Marco Giampaolo and Stefano Pioli, and if the latter were to remain then Calhanoglu would have no problems as he is being played in his favoured role.

If, on the other hand, Ralf Rangnick arrived, it would also not be a problem since the German coach has made it clear several times that he appreciates and wants him at the centre of his project.

Milan still intends to focus on its No.10 which, so far, has only shown his technical skill in flashes.

Rafael Leão for Sky Sport:

About the current season in Milan:

Thanks to my skills, I tried to help the team. However, during the season, there are times when someone is stronger than you and you need patience. The team means more than a single player. It is important to be ready and enter the field if it is possible.

I can give more and do more on the pitch. I know what I can do. I believe in myself and my skills. Playing in Italy is a completely new experience for me. After all, I feel that I have developed a lot from a tactical point of view. I'm sure that next season will be better for me.

Which moments in Milan do you remember the most?

So far, the best memories of two events: debut in the derby match and the first goal at San Siro.

About future:

I don't like making promises. I prefer to answer on the field. I promise I will continue to do my best for this jersey. I would like to ask our supporters for support. During this season, it happened that their support was particularly important, especially in difficult moments. We want to bring Milan back to European cups, to the place it deserves. We are Milan.

Milan would like to loan Luka Jović (Real Madrid). It is not yet known whether the loan would contain an option or obligation to buy.

Milan will try to keep key players for the next season.

The club plans to impose a new wage ceiling for next season, but intends to make an exception for several players, like (among others) Zlatan Ibrahimović, Alessio Romagnoli and Ante Rebić.

Rossoneri are ready to propose a new contract for Ibra to June 30, 2021 (4.5 million euros net per season). Ibra conditions staying in Milan from the team's project and reinforcements.

Massimo Maccarone claims Milan need better than Stefano Pioli and ‘doesn’t think Serie A will ever reach the levels’ of the Premier League.

Pioli won nine of his 22 Serie A games as Milan coach before the coronavirus pandemic, lifting them into seventh place – enough for a place in the qualifying phase of next season’s Europa League.

However, Maccarone – a former Rossoneri striker – has not been impressed with the former Inter and Lazio boss.

“It all depends on what the club’s plans are,” he told Calciomercato.com.
“If they have confidence in the coach then great, but Pioli hasn’t shown that he can do well with Milan.

“In my opinion, it takes a set of things to do well as a club: a coach, players and good owners who carry out a plan over a period of several years.

“I don’t think you can build anything solid in one season. A real and proper project is needed.”
The 40-year-old is one of a select few Italians to have played in England and Middlesbrough’s third after Fabrizio Ravanelli and Gianluca Festa.

“In England I experienced ups and downs, but I have splendid memories of my time there.
“Playing in the Premier League was a great pleasure for me. There’s a reason if it’s the most popular league in the world.

“It’s completely different to ours, it strengthened me a lot in terms of character. I don’t think Serie A will ever reach their levels.
“We have a mentality that is too different to theirs. It would be really tough to catch them.”
