"They told me about a boy from Brazil, apparently very good, but who I did not know: Ricardo Izecson Dos Santos Leite. For his name he seemd more like a preacher to me, and I was not that mistaken.
.
The Club was unsure whether to bring him directly to Milan or allow him to stay for another six months at Sao Paolo. After assessing our options we decided to speed up the process and bring him to the club as soon as possible so that he could begin training with us. And for me to meet him.
.
From my point of view, it was a blind signing. Full of words and hopes, but I needed facts. Kaka arrived to Malpensa and I put my head in my hands: his glasses, his comb-over hair style, hid nice kid face... He was just missing a lunch box and a book. We had signed a College Boy I thought.
.
But with the ball, he was a monster. I stopped talking, just because I couldn't find the words. There were no words to describe what I was seeing.
.
In one of his first training sessions, he faced Gattuso, who put in a terrific tackle on him. But Kaka did not miss the ball, And Rino finished the action saying, "https://jamii.app/JFUserGuide Off!!". From his point of view, that meant promoting his new team mate. Still with the ball at his feet,he shot on target from 30 meters with Nesta being unable to stop him. We took that Kid's glasses and dressed him in football kit, and he turned out to be what we didn't expect; A Genius..."

I hope that Maldini stays too, I am happy for Pioli. I hope that Milan is slowly returning to the past glories." https://t.co/dopJ7o8ucb

📰Repubblica: *Zlatan is edging closer to renewal: 4M€+bonuses per season. There's a dilemma about the duration of the new contract: If there will be an option inserted in the contract to renew until 2022 or not.* https://t.co/CTBSuZ0wtf

🎙️ @DanielRiolo: "Zlatan is finished, dead, flushed, he's 38 years old. Zlatan is not a leader. A club like Milan is forced to take a player like Zlatan, it's proof that the club is flushed out." (Interview on January)

Criminal Proceedings Against FIFA President Infantino Launched In Switzerland

Criminal proceedings against FIFA president Gianni Infantino have been launched in Switzerland, Sky Sports reports.

A special prosecutor was appointed this month to investigate dealings between Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber and Infantino.

Lauber offered to resign last week after a court concluded he covered up a meeting with the FIFA president and lied to supervisors while his office probed corruption surrounding football’s governing body.

But the authority overseeing Switzerland’s federal prosecutors announced on Thursday that special prosecutor Stefan Keller – who also requested permission to begin proceedings against the attorney general – had found indications of criminal conduct related to the meetings.

Both the accused have previously denied any wrongdoing

Infantino became FIFA president in 2016 after beating favourite Sheikh Salman over two rounds of voting in Zurich.

He replaced Sepp Blatter, who was forced to resign a year earlier over corruption allegations

Speaking at the time, Infantino told FIFA’s congress: “I cannot express my feelings in this moment.

“We will restore the image and the respect of FIFA and everyone in the world will applaud us.

“We are finally going to ensure that we can once again focus on the beautiful game of football.”

He had previously held the post of UEFA general secretary since 2009, and had been backed by both Europe’s football governing body and the English FA.

AC Milan have the approval of Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali regarding a summer move, a report claims, but Inter have made the higher bid.

The Rossoneri continue to be linked with a move for the 20-year-old as they look to strengthen their options in midfield with the imminent departure of Lucas Biglia, and Tonali is a boyhood fan of the club which could help their cause.

Spanish outlet Todofichajes are reporting that Tonali has made it known through his agent Beppe Bozzo that he would be happy to join Milan after enquiries from the Rossoneri management.

However, in order to seal a deal it will be necessary to match Inter’s offer for the Italy international. The Nerazzurri have put €35million on the table to try and win the race for Tonali, but if Milan offered the same sum to Brescia, sources suggest they could overtake their historical rivals and secure the signing of one of the league’s brightest talent.

At the moment however, it seems difficult that the Rossoneri can spend this amount on a central midfielder, as Stefano Pioli has other priorities and a budget that is not yet set.

Calhanoglu has become a leader of Pioli’s Milan, and in turn an increasingly integral part of the future project.

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti interviewed the 26-year-old exclusively for StarCasinò Sport, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews, beginning with how the team coped during lockdown.

“Our coach and our staff did a great job to train from home, via phone with video calls. Then when we returned to Milanello we trained hard every day, we all did a great job together,” he said.

It was recently confirmed that Stefano Pioli has signed a new two-year deal which will see him remain as head coach until 2022, and Calhanoglu had high praise for the man that has got the best out of him.

“A very important person for me and for the team, he is a coach who listens, wants to know what the players think. I play in my role, in the role I prefer,” he continued.

“We are all happy that Milan has renewed, also it is not easy for him, there were many voices but he is a great professional, he only thought of the team to bring it as high as possible, we also played for him.

“I have great confidence because they believe in my qualities and I show them on the field, so we do well all together. I am not afraid, I have a lot of trust, but there are many other leaders like Zlatan.”

On his free-kick goal against Atalanta: “I saw Beckham’s video. It is a goal that remains, eleven years after that of Beckham. It will certainly remain in my career, it is a beautiful thing.”

On his most important goal: “The one against Torino, when I started on the bench, then I came on, I scored two goals and we won.”

On Ibrahimovic: “He is a great player and a great person. He has great personality, he arrived here with great passion, I hope he will stay in the next season too, it is very important for us.”

On Donnarumma: “He is also a great player, he has a great personality, he is a good boy. I really like playing with Gigio, he is young but he has a nice personality, I am very happy for him too. He has already played 200 games so young , congratulations to him.”

On previous years with the Rossoneri: “The first year I arrived in Milan and the previous six months I hadn’t played, it was very difficult for me to come back physically. I had to learn the Italian language and football which is very different from the Bundesliga.

“The second year I improved a bit with Rino, I learned even more the language. The third year is my year, I have great confidence.”

On those differences between Serie A and the Bundesliga, he elaborated: “I like playing in Serie A, there are many quality players, many strong teams. In the Bundesliga there is Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Leverkusen. Here there are many strong teams, this is the difference.”

On his boyhood idol: “I have always loved Ronaldinho, his tricks, his technique…”

On his favourite non-Milan player in Italy: “I like Dybala very much.”

On Italy: “In Italy I like people, it is very similar to that of Turkey. I like food, I really like Milanese risotto.”

On what he does in his spare time: “I like playing with my baby, I have time for her every day. When I finish training with Milan I go home and do training with her.”

He ended by discussing his ambitions for the future.

“My dream is to arrive in the Champions League, it must always be our goal. Now we are in the Europa League, I hope to be able to reach the Champions League with AC Milan, I miss it very much. Then I dream of always feeling well physically.”

🎙️Ismael Bennacer to Sky:" Ibrahimovic helps the team a lot. With him, you do not want to lose the ball. He looks for perfection. He yells, and it's fine to do that when a player is wrong. That's how one learns and becomes a high level player." https://t.co/ukVAyzaeI5

Ismael Bennacer has seemingly quashed rumours that he could leave the club this summer by declaring that he wants to score ‘many more’ goals with Milan.
Bennacer and his midfield partner Franck Kessie have been a huge part of that, as the African duo are the real metronome of the game designed by Stefano Pioli. However, the performance of the former Empoli man has not gone unnoticed.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) recently reported that Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have both taken note of the Algeria international’s exploits.
Pep Guardiola has apparently ‘fallen in love with the player’, so much that he wants to bring him to England immediately, while PSG have shown an inclination to offer as much as €50million to take him to Paris.
Nonetheless, Bennacer was interviewed by Milan TV and talked about numerous topics, starting by discussing his first goal for the club against Bologna and declaring he hopes it is the first of many for the Rossoneri.
“Too bad there were no fans, I was very happy because I helped the team a lot with this goal,” he said (via MilanNews).
“I have to work a lot on this, to be decisive, even if I work a lot for the team, but also personally it is always positive scoring and serving assists. Too bad it was behind closed doors, but it wasn’t the last goal, I want to score many more with this shirt.”
On the role of regista: “I have grown a lot in this role. For me it is the same to play mezzala, I have to grow in something, I have been a regista for less than two years and I have yet to learn.”
On his partnership with Kessie: “With Franck I am very well, we try to give our best on the pitch. The more we spend time together, the better things will improve for us and for the team. I am happy to work with Franck in midfield.”
On Donnarumma and the captain’s armband: “The more leaders there are, the better for the team. Gigio is this type of player, he is a captain, he talks a lot and helps the team a lot.”
On post-lockdown training: “We want to work like this, we went back to training hard after the lockdown, we were tired but look now. I would do it the same way to get these results.”
On Milan-Cagliari: “We must do well first of all for the fans, they are not with us but they are part of us, our strength. We must give everything for them, end well for them and for us.”
