In what amounts to a first for all parties involved, American broadcaster, CBS, has announced that it will air Parma vs. AC Milan on broadcast television.

This is the the first time the network has aired a Serie A game on their terrestrial channels and they’ve chosen a Milan game for this honour. The main reason for this is the presence of American international, Christian Pulisic, on the team.

They are also one of the ‘big three’ networks in the United States as they hold the rare distinction of being one of the country’s first broadcasters. The network is one of the most storied important media outlets in the country and the exposure they’ll give to Milan by airing this game will be invaluable.

CBS is also one of the few channels that broadcasts terrestrially, meaning that most Americans are able to access the network with something as simple as a television with an antenna. Therefore, the game will be broadcast to a wide audience and has the potential to set ratings records.

Milan will also be getting the same exposure the traditional American sports of football and college basketball have received in the country. This increased visibility will allow the Rossoneri to be exposed to a wide, American audience and potentially win over new fans of the team.

📰 @Tuttosport: Milan is fully embracing youth, even in the transfer market. The club is targeting players under 20, like 19-year-old Silvano Vos from Ajax and Demirel Hodzic, a 2005-born player signed from Bologna for the Milan Futuro project.

Joshua Zirkzee was AC Milan’s big target in the 2023/24 season, but they left the summer mercato with two other strikers. Why? Well because the club refused to pay an extortionate agent fee, and perhaps, this was the right idea.

Even before Olivier Giroud’s departure was earmarked, Milan took an interest in the Dutch striker with him having a great start to the Serie A season. At one point it seemed a January mercato move could be on the cards, but a move in the summer was the preferred option.

A move that never happened.

Looking back to the summer, the Rossoneri had several opportunities to make a deal with the agent of the Dutchman – Kia Joorabchian – but refused to match his commission fees, and this decision was heavily scrutinised. However, Calciomercato.com asks if this was the right idea in hindsight.

The youngster has only scored once since Manchester United paid €40 million for him in the summer, and after a poor game against Tottenham – where he was hooked after 45 minutes – questions are being asked of him.

Context, perhaps, plays a part, with the Red Devils down to 10 men, but the Dutchman looked isolated before the captain was given his marching orders, and the report suggests that a return to Italy could be on the cards if his performances do not improve.

In fact, a return could occur as early as January, but whether the Rossoneri involve themselves in the proceedings is yet to be seen.

📰 @WhoScored: Rafael Leão has completed more successful dribbles than any other player in Serie A this season (16). 🏄‍♂️

Some clarification has arrived from Matteo Moretto regarding the terms of the deal which saw Daniel Maldini leave AC Milan to join Monza on a permanent deal.

After spending the second half of last season on loan at Monza, Adriano Galliani pushed to make it a permanent acquisition and he was able to do so. The playmaker went there on a free transfer as per various reports, with Milan having a resale clause.

That particular clause might become quite significant, because there have been reports stating that Inter are keen on signing Daniel Maldini in what would be a controversial move given his father’s ties to Milan.

It was reported by Tuttosport yesterday that Milan have the right of first refusal which – combined with their resale clause – means that they can sign him back for half of what any interested team are prepared to pay.

Now, Moretto has provided an update on Maldini and the terms of his exit during the summer in a Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside.

“Former Milan talent, and of course Paolo Maldini’s son, Daniel Maldini, has been impressive since moving to Monza this summer. That has led to some of Italy’s biggest sides being linked with him, and naturally, some Rossoneri fans are asking whether they can bring him back,” he said

Monza’s Daniel Maldini could become the first player in his family to join one of Milan‘s biggest Serie A rivals as both Inter and Juventus are reportedly monitoring the 22-year-old, who just earned his first call-up with Italy.

Maldini’s name has been historically linked with the red and black colours as Daniel’s grandad Cesare spent 12 seasons in the Rossoneri’s shirt between 1954 and 1966 before Paolo also became a club legend by playing for Milan his entire 25-year footballing career.

However, after coming through the Rossoneri’s youth ranks and making his debut for the senior team, Daniel Madini was left free to leave the club. Following two temporary stints at Spezia and Empoli, the Italian forward joined Monza on a loan deal, which became permanent last summer, and his recent form has attracted interest from several sides, including Inter and Juventus.

Milan duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have landed in hot water after their insubordination surrounding a penalty during the team’s recent 2-1 loss to Fiorentina, and both are at risk of being benched for the visit from Udinese after the international break, according to Friday’s reports.

Rossoneri coach Paulo Fonseca was reportedly left furious after the pair intervened at the penalty spot against Fiorentina, taking the kick away from the club’s designated penalty taker Christian Pulisic.

Milan missed two penalties against Fiorentina. Theo Hernandez and Abraham’s spot-kicks were both saved by David De Gea.

Tomori picked up the ball immediately after the second penalty was awarded, and handed it over to his close friend and former Chelsea academy teammate, Abraham.

AC Milan signed Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco during the summer transfer window but they are planning a further investment, and Samuele Ricci of Torino is reportedly a target.

According to Calciomercato.com, Ricci’s career path is going according to plan so far. After establishing himself at Empoli, he took an ‘intermediate step’ by joining a club like Torino, aware that it was a good club to grow at and then earn an even bigger move.

At 23 years of age he now has a spot in the Italian national team and is perhaps the main man for the Granata under new head coach Paolo Vanoli, and this is turning the heads of various clubs in view of the coming transfer windows.

Since his time at Empoli, Ricci’s name has been on the radar of all the top Italian clubs. Last summer Milan had included him – together with Roma’s Manu Koné – in the list of the main alternatives to Fofana.

It was a strong interest that then did not materialise in a negotiation because in the end the Rossoneri club decided to focus heavily on the former Monaco man and they got that deal over the line. However, the a new attempt at the end of the season cannot be ruled out, because he remains on the list.
