🚨 Pepê would gladly come to Milan , if the club decided to look for him. His availability, combined with the versatility he demonstrated at Porto under Sérgio Conceição, makes him an interesting option for the Rossoneri. Furthermore, the player has an Italian passport, a detail that would facilitate his transfer.

During the day there has been talk of Milan's interest in Pepé, a midfielder and winger on both wings who was a regular for Conceiçao at Porto.

The current Milan coach used him everywhere, he was his offensive wild card and he always performed, which is why he was such a regular with him.

The Brazilian could easily enter if he leaves Okafor (currently the starting point) and as he has an Italian passport he does not count as a non-EU citizen.

The interest remains to be confirmed further, but it is a good name and one that Sergio greatly appreciates.

Pepé would be delighted to go to Milan if they were to look for him.

The penultimate day of this 2024 has been anything but quiet for AC Milan, given that they have not only sacked their head coach but also hired his replacement.

The dismissal of Paulo Fonseca was announced this morning after the rumours that emerged before the Roma game last night. The management acted quick to replace him and hired Sergio Conceiçao, who took charge of his first training session this afternoon.

According to Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Conceiçao has naturally been allowed to bring his usual staff members with him. He has a supporting cast which was built and tweaked during his seven years with Porto, a spell in which he won 11 trophies in total.

The assistant coach will be Siranama Dembélé, two goalkeeping coaches will be Vedran Runje and Diamantino Figueiredo, the sports scientist will be Eduardo Oliveira, while Fabio Moura and Joao Costa will be additional assistants.

The hope will be that Conceicao and his staff can make a quick impact given that the squad leave for Saudi Arabia tomorrow. It is in the Middle East that they will contest the Supercoppa Italiana, with the semi-final against Juventus on Sunday, the team that his son Francisco Conceicao plays for.

The AC Milan management have been busy when it comes to the renewals of key players, and that in turn will have an impact on the squad cost in the accounts.

The previous directors were criticised for perhaps not moving ahead of time when it comes to extending those who were on contracts that are winding down, so in many ways this is a corrective measure.

As per widespread reports, CEO Giorgio Furlani, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been working on tying down some crucial assets.

Matteo Gabbia
The club broke the news a few weeks ago that Gabbia has put pen to paper on a new deal that will run until 2029. It was well received by the fans given how consistent he has been, and after over 80 appearances and five goals to date, the story continues for the boyhood Milan fan.

Following his late winner against Inter he is on his way to earning cult status already, with the hope being that he might even become a ‘bandiera’ in the future, and may get the captain’s armband.

Calcio e Finanza stated that there was also a financial incentive to Gabbia’s renewal, because the Italian will now go from earning €1m net per season to €2m per year, which means his pay has doubled.

His cost on the balance sheet will thus grow from the previous €1.85m gross to €3.7m, given that players that haven’t arrived from abroad cannot benefit from the Growth Decree.

Gerry Cardinale recently extended the vendor loan owed to buy AC Milan, hoping it would raise faith in him. However, this has not happened, and the pot is now bubbling.

This season has been difficult for everyone involved, and fans have recently begun to show their anger. There has, of course, always been the occasional frustration, but there have rarely been extended protests, but Sunday’s game told a tale.

Milan played out a 1-1 draw with Roma, a poor result in the grand scheme of things which can be added to a catalogue of similar results and off the pitch, protests continued.

Once again, Cardinale was told to sell the club by the chanting supporters, of which the number and volume have grown in recent weeks, and according to Calciomercato.com, the owner is very much aware of things.

As their report states, the American had hoped that the news of the vendor loan extension would increase confidence in his position, so the fact that the protests are ongoing has ‘annoyed him’. In fact, the situation as a whole is frustrating him.

Winning the first trophy of his era is a must for the American, and he will hope that any success lowers the frustrations, but right now it is difficult to see that admittedly.

Fabio Capello believes that Sergio Conceicao will arrive at AC Milan with one added advantage that Paulo Fonseca was not able to enjoy.

The dust is just about beginning to settle after Milan decided to pull the trigger on a mid-season reboot, sacking Fonseca after just 24 games and 200 days in charge before promptly replacing him with Conceicao.

It means one Portuguese has left and another has entered, but in the press conference that took place today Zlatan Ibrahimovic explained why the management were so keen to make the switch, even before the Supercoppa Italiana.

Now, Fabio Capello has offered his thoughts on the events that have taken place over the past 48 hours, speaking in a column that was published on La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Paulo Fonseca leaves, Sergio Conceiçao arrives. ‘It’s life’, said the outgoing Milan coach as he left San Siro for the last time. Anyone who has been a coach knows how it works: you’re always the first to pay when things don’t go well. And at Milan, eighth in Serie A, it seems superfluous to underline this,” he said.

“But how much blame does Fonseca have? Tactically, his team struggled to find a balance on the pitch, a bit like what happened with Pioli for a good part of last season. But I believe that his dismissal came about for another reason, in addition to the results obviously below expectations: the lack of rapport with the most important players.

“Fonseca tried to be tough, to make strong decisions, when he saw that some of his players had the wrong attitudes. Because, it must be said, we have seen at Milan in recent months moments of absolute inattention, with goals conceded that were unacceptable for a great team.

Shots (on target)
Rafael Leao – 44 (22)
Tijjani Reijnders – 43 (19)
Samuel Chukwueze – 35 (8)
Christian Pulisic – 34 (17)
Theo Hernandez – 29 (7)
What is quite striking is how close to 50% accuracy the leading shooters are in the Milan squad, with the exception of Chukwueze who many would agree has been wasteful. For reference, Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham sit below Theo when it comes to shot attempts, which is somewhat strange.
