Home of AC Milan, Official Thread

A few days ago it seemed like AC Milan would be having quite a busy January with operations close to being completed, yet things remain in a state of flux.

Nonetheless, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning that the mercato is finally about to get going for the Rossoneri. Even after the Noah Okafor to RB Leipzig deal collapsed, important news should arrive on the Marcus Rashford front.

Okafor: Everything was ready for his move to Leipzig. The Swiss striker had even flown to Germany to undergo a medical, which ultimately ruined everything. The German club decided to cancel the deal after the results did not come out as expected, but economic-contractual reasons may be behind it.

Rashford: Milan are waiting for the Manchester United man, and hope for positive signals despite fierce competition. The Englishman is seen as a ‘tempting opportunity’ which becomes an even more urgent need given Christian Pulisic’s injury, which needs to be evaluated. He could be used as a winger or as a striker, which helps.

Walker: One Englishman excludes the other. If Rashford were to opt for other shores, Milan would turn to Kyle Walker, whose agents have already spoken with the Rossoneri management, presenting their client’s requests: €4m net per season plus bonuses.

#A little story about Bondo:

Right now, he’s French player, but there’s a good chance he’ll play for the DR Congo 🇨🇩 national team in the next few months.

The DR Congo coach visited him over the holidays, and a photo of them together popped up on social media a few days later, pretty much confirming their meeting.

From what Congolese "insiders" were saying, Bondo has agreed to join the DR Congo team but asked for a bit of time because he knew he was getting transferred this winter or, at the latest, this summer.
And as you probably know, it’s usually better for a player to negotiate a contract as a European rather than an African, mainly because of the AFCON, which can make things trickier for African players.

Since he’s moving on a free transfer and AFCON is happening at the end of the year, I thought this was worth sharing.

That said, nothing’s set in stone. If he plays really well and the media starts talking about him, he could totally change his mind—it wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened.

AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao seemingly hopes to throw in a couple of new signings in the first available game, according to a report.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Conceicao has moved training to tomorrow afternoon to have all the new players – including Santiago Gimenez and Joao Felix – immediately available and to work with them in preparation for the match against Roma.

As a reminder, Gimenez was announced earlier as a new signing, joining from Feyenoord on a deal running until 2029. His arrival came after Alvaro Morata sealed a loan switch to Galatasaray, which made it one in one out for the centre-forward role.

In addition to the Mexico international, Milan have agreed a deadline day loan move for Joao Felix. The Portuguese is set to arrive from Chelsea, and even though the official announcement has not come yet, it is expected that everything will be done in time.

it is a clear ploy from Conceicao to try and get the new players integrated as quickly as possible, especially with a Coppa Italia quarter-final against Roma on Wednesday night to come. It remains to be seen what the plan is for Warren Bondo, who is expected to arrive from Monza.

AC Milan managed to get a late deal over the line for Riccardo Sottil with Fiorentina, it has been confirmed, and he will join on loan with an option to buy.

It came as a bit of a shock yesterday when Matteo Moretto announced that Milan and Fiorentina have reached an agreement for Sottil over a paid loan with an option to buy set at around €10m.

Things went somewhat quiet after that initial breaking news, but then with less than a couple of hours of the window remaining things accelerated again towards a conclusion.

Fabrizio Romano gave the operation the ‘here we go’, adding that the deal in place is a €1m loan fee plus €10m option to buy. Sottil will be part of the homegrown squad list, and has five goals across all competitions so far this season.

A statement on Milan’s official website reads as follows: “AC Milan is pleased to announce the signing of Riccardo Sottil from ACF Fiorentina on a loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent.

“Born in Turin on 3 June 1999, Sottil progressed through the youth academies of Genoa, Torino and Fiorentina, making his professional debut for Fiorentina in September 2018.

“Over the course of his career, he has also played for Pescara and Cagliari before returning to Fiorentina, where he made a total of 138 appearances and scored 15 goals. Sottil will wear the number 99 shirt.”
