ARSENAL and Liverpool's hopes of signing Jackson Martinez have taken a major blow after AC Milan agreed to pay his release clause.

With Inzaghi having been left fielding questions about his future for most of his single season in charge, the former striker is finally set to be put out of his misery.
Carlo Ancelotti was initially approached by the power-brokers at Casa Milan, but
Sinisa Mihajlovic has emerged as the man likely to be entrusted with the keys to Mr Bee's war chest following an impressive stint with Sampdoria.
The Serbian, who cut his coaching teeth as an assistant across the city with Inter, has enjoyed a career so far which has been as nomadic as it has been impressive since first being asked to lead Bologna in 2008. But after quitting the Marassi recently he claimed to be ready to coach a big club, and few come bigger than Milan.

While Mattia Destro took to the No.9 shirt at San Siro with greater aplomb than previous incumbent Fernando Torres, there appears little hope of Milan keeping on the Roma striker for the pre-agreed €16m option following the end of his loan spell. He will not be the only one waving goodbye to Casa Milan.
Jeremy Menez was a runaway success with the Rossoneri in his maiden season, but that could be good or bad news for Milanisti. His pace, artistry and goalscoring ability in a number of different forward positions could instigate an approach from another club. Should a reasonable offer arrive for the 28-year-old, Milan are expected to think very seriously about allow the Frenchman to leave. Monaco are known to be interested, leaving open the possibility of a swap deal involving Kondogbia.
In a bid to snap up Gabriel Barbosa, Alex could be used as bait following an underwhelming 2014-15 campaign. Another high-profile defender whose future is in the balance is Philippe Mexes, who has made it known he would take a pay cut from €4m to as little as €1.5m to remain a Milan player, but the club are not expected to make his renewal a priority.
Elsewhere, Sulley Muntari is a certainty to bid farewell. His departure has long been on the cards following an agreement between the two parties long before the end of last season that ties would be cut. To many in the Curva Sud it will be a relief to see the Ghanaian leave after a largely disappointing three-and-a-half year spell.

AC Milan's fortunes in recent years have plummeted at a staggering rate. Seven times the champions of Europe and winners of Serie A on 18 occasions, the Rossoneri have been a shadow of their former selves over the last four seasons.
Their lack of success has hardly come out of nowhere though, with signs developing for some time that the combination of a flagging resource base and the Financial Fair Play laws would hit Milan more than most.
Finishing 10th in Serie A in 2014-15 should be the nadir from which they rise again. It was a season which was conditioned by a number of aspects, although most of them were self-inflicted, beginning with the underwhelming impact of Filippo Inzaghi as coach. After ousting Clarence Seedorf, the club's board would have expected far better than scraping into the top half of the table come the season's end.
That said, little was truly done on the transfer market to warrant anything better. Jeremy Menez was an excellent addition, so too Diego Lopez, but none of their other deals spoke of a big-club mentality. The Fernando Torres signing smacked of desperation, Giacomo Bonaventura is a classy player but still some way short of a figurehead for a Champions League chaser, and moves bringing Suso, Marco van Ginkel, Salvatore Bocchetti and Gabriel Paletta to the club showed little imagination. Even Alessio Cerci's signing came six months late, adding a player scarred by failure at Atletico Madrid rather than one buoyed by success with Torino.
The 2015 summer market will have to be far more convincing than either of the efforts of last term, and with €500 million of new investment set to be added by Thai entreprenuer Bee Taechaubol, there will be big funds available this summer.
Exactly how to spend the new cash is the club's big quandry.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still a target of Milan and they want to partner him up with Jackson Martinez next season.
Adriano Galliani has spent the last few days (and will continue today) in talks with Porto over Jackson Martinez as the Rossoneri want the striker but it seems that he’s not the only one Milan want as they are thinking about acquiring Zlatan.
Reports suggested earlier this week that Ibrahimovic had told Milan of his desire to return to the club where he played from 2010 to 2012 and according to Sky Italia, Milan are confident that they can bring the 33-year-old striker back and will talk with Paris SG once they manage to find a deal with Porto for Martinez.
As written on Di Marzio’s website, “the Rossoneri believe there aren’t many other suitors [in line for Zlatan] and are banking on the fact the French club would rather sell Ibrahimovic this summer rather than losing him for free at end of next season when his contract expires.”
Sky states that Milan will offer Ibrahimovic a three-year deal worth €7 million per season if they can reach a deal with PSG, who are apparently already looking for a replacement.

Corriere dello Sport reports this morning that Milan have reached agreement with Monaco for Kondogbia for 27 million euro and Galliani will fly straight to Monaco soon as he concludes a deal for Jackson Martinez.

“I’ll start investing again, €150m? We’ll spend whatever is necessary, Milan a part of my heart”
