Benfica want to sign AC Milan midfielder, talks ongoing
Posted on July 26, 2020 by Rossonero

Benfica are looking at AC Milan outcast Alen Halilovic to strengthen their midfield. Talks are ongoing between the two clubs.
Alen Halilovic is one of the many meteors that have passed at AC Milan in recent years. The Croatian midfielder made only three appearances with the Rossoneri, all in the Europa League.

In the last season, the 24-year-old was on loan at Heerenveen in Eredivisie but in the summer he will return to Milanello. The Croation attacking midfielder, however, will only be passing through, because he is not part of Stefano Pioli’s project.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Benfica are seriously interested in Alen Halilovic and the Portuguese club have already opened talks with AC Milan.

Last year, before moving to Netherlands, the Croatian had been targeted by some Spanish clubs such as Real Betis, Levante and Espanyol, but a transfer did not materialize. The Rossoneri believed that an experience in Eredivisie would help Halilovic grow. He made 17 league appearances (mostly as a substitute) with Heerenveen scoring one goal and providing three assists.

With just one year remaining in his contract AC Milan are more than happy to sell Halilovic. A move to Benfica could be the perfect solution for all parties. Perhaps the former Barcelona talent will finally have has chance to shine in Portugal.

Major update on talks with Donnarumma and Ibrahimovic
Posted on July 26, 2020 by Rossonero

AC Milan have held positive talks with Donnarumma and Ibrahimovic. Both Rossoneri stars will renew their contracts.

The AC Milan management met yesterday with agent Mino Raiola in Montecarlo to talk about the contract renewals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The parties are very close and the blitz in Monaco was quite productive. The will of both players is to continue their adventure with the Rossoneri jersey.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is even willing to take a substantial salary cut in order to stay at San Siro (he currently ears 6 million per season). However, the Swedish striker wants guarantees that be will be at the center of the project and also the regular starter in attack next season. On this aspect, Stefano Pioli has no doubts.

According to La Gazzetta, the 38-year-old striker could stay at AC Milan even after his retirement from football. The Rossoneri club seems inclined to offer him an ambassador role for the future.

As for Gigio Donnarumma, Corriere della Sera writes that the parties are discussing the last details and the Italy interational will renew his contract until June 2023. The Rossoneri goalkeeper does not see himself representing any other club besides Milan and is firm on his convictions to want to stay.

In Donnarumma’s new deal, the parties have agreed to insert a release clause which would be triggered in the event of AC Milan’s failure to qualify for Champions League in 2021/2022. The clause will be set at around 50 million euros. The Milan squad of next season is finally beginning to take shape.

🎙️Calhanoglu:" The Milan of these recent months is the real Milan. We always want to win. Thanks to Ibrahimovic who helps us, we have a great mentality and passion. It's not over yet, and we look forward to the next season. We are ready."

Milan’s number one target for the midfield is Sandro Tonali, who is appreciated by everyone at the club. The hurdle is Inter who still haven’t found an agreement with Brescia.

The presence of Maldini could convince Sandro into joining Milan. The other name is Florentino Luis of Benfica. Milan’s proposed deal formula is two-year loan with obligation to buy for €35-40M. Paqueta could potentially go the other way.

The formula, however, does not convince Benfica. The interest in Szoboszlai is cooled down due to the fact that Rangnick isn’t joining the club anymore. The profile of Marc Roca is also on stand-by at the moment. He has a €40M release clause but this value is negotiable [GdS]

Calhanoglu quashes rumours of unhappiness: “I want to wear the AC Milan shirt again”

AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has declared his desire to stay with the Rossoneri and to sign a new contract.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Friday (via MilanNews) that Calhanoglu does not want to renew his deal, as he wants to go home to Germany where he was born and raised.

RB Leipzig and Hertha Berlin were mentioned as two teams ready to welcome him with open arms, as per the report, but now the midfielder has responded.
However, the player then responded on Instagram by labelling it as ‘fake news’, and now he has spoken to Sky Italia about his future amid reports in the media suggesting he is closing in on signing a renewal on his current deal, which expires in 2021.

“It is not true that I want to return to the Bundesliga. I want to be here. I chose Milan with my heart. I want to wear the AC Milan shirt again,” he said (via MilanLive).
Calhanoglu has been one of the decisive players in Milan’s excellent post-lockdown run, having netted five goals and provided four decisive assists since Serie A resumed.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu was the first player to score off the bench under Stefano Pioli. It was late October, and the Turk's shot unlocked the game against Lecce. AC Milan have experienced ups and downs since then. In November and December, the Rossoneri struggled to score. January saw large squad upheal with the return of Ibra and the departures of Suso and Piątek.

In this sense, Hakan is not a product of the new-look, post-lockdown Diavolo. Çalhanoğlu has been on the up since the start of the year. He's taken on new responsibilities and has seen a net increase in his numbers and overall performance, thanks in large part his increased role, both in attack and defence.

Çalha has always said and felt that he's a number 10. It's still his role today, but just a modern, updated version. Hakan arrives off the shoudler of the striker after doing his defensive duty, after having reovered the ball. In Lecce, AC Milan scored four goals and Hakan had a hand in each of them. he assisted Rebić from the edge of the AC Milan penalty area.

His delightful free kick against Atalanta came after goals against Parma and Bologna, and after an assist in Reggio Emilia. In total, Çalhanoğlu has scored eight goals so far this season and has been directly involved in eight AC Milan goals since the restart, scoring five and assisting five. Ten games, ten stats; perfectly balanced.

This AC Milan side never switches off. Since the restart, the Rossoneri have coped with all the challenges they have faced with renewed confidence. After a frustrating draw in Ferrara, we got back to winning ways against Lazio and Juventus. Even following our euphoric victory against the Bianconeri, we did remarkably well to keep our focus in a difficult game in Napoli. And after going a goal down against Parma, the boys showed great resilience, and we went on to win three consecutive matches against Parma, Bologna and Sassuolo.

Qualification for Europe and a contract renewal for Stefano Pioli were no longer in doubt, and the Rossoneri were facing an intense game, though there was always the risk that the Rossoneri might rest on their laurels. But that didn't happen, as we saw in our clash with Atalanta. Once again, the players were putting their bodies on the line for the cause: just what the boss had asked of them.

Of course, the Rossoneri faced adversity, particularly against Atalanta. Even without Romagnoli, Conti and Hernández (who was also out suspended for the reverse fixture in Bergamo) and Bennacer, AC Milan showed great resolve and held firm against La Dea, keeping things tight at the back, while doing all they could to get the three points. The reason for the quality of the performance is clear: the men who came in to fill the gaps in our starting eleven delivered on the day. Though Biglia had a difficult night, Laxalt, Gabbia and Calabria were consistent, determined, and their efforts kept us going throughout the match.

The four substitutes made a great contribution as well. Castillejo was looking match-sharp once again, while Leão e Bonaventura were full of purpose and dangerous, and similarly, Krunić helped steady the ship in the second half.

AC Milan have a number of different midfielders on their shortlist ahead of the summer, a report claims, including Sandro Tonali.

La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Rossoneri management have been working for months to strengthen the midfield department with the team in desperate need of an alternative to the excellent Kessie-Bennacer pairing.

Benfica’s Florentino Luis remains a target, and although he has a release clause of €120million the Portuguese side are willing to drop considerably to do a deal at around €35-40million.

They would even discuss a possible two-year loan with an obligation to buy, while Milan may try to include Paquetà in the negotiation to get an exchange of loans, but Benfica are not keen.

The Dominik Szoboszlai idea (€25million) has cooled for obvious reasons, as Ralf Rangnick’s non-arrival has meant that everything is now complicated. Despite this, the interest of the management remains alive, given that the teenager was followed by Milan even back when Boban was operational.

At the moment, the name of Espanyol’s Marc Roca is also on stand-by. He too has a release clause of €40m, but the price is clearly negotiable as his current club were relegated.

The number one goal for the midfield, however, remains Sandro Tonali, a player that has everyone in agreement. The hurdle is the fact that Inter have Tonali’s approval, but they are waiting for the negotiation to take off with Cellino.

Milan could insert themselves into the race and match Inter’s offer of €30million. The charisma of Maldini, the icon of the Milan side that Tonali supported as a child, could convince the player.

📰Daniele Longo: Benfica is now open to let AC Milan's target Florentino Luís go on a 2-year loan sale. His valuation fell to €25M/€30M.

*AC Milan are targeting moves for two midfielders in the upcoming summer mercato, a report claims, and they have plans for both.*

*For months it has been rumoured that Ralf Rangnick would arrive as the club’s new manager and with him a revolution would follow, but the plans have all changed and Stefano Pioli will now remain.*

*The focus instead will be on fine-tuning the squad and adding depth where possible, and Tuttosport (via MilanNews) are reporting that Milan will focus in particular on bolstering the midfield.*

*The aim is to add both a creative midfielder and a holding midfielder, to give a couple of options in each position for if Kessie, Bennacer or Calhanoglu were to need rests.*

*At the moment, Aleksey Miranchuk of Lokomotiv Moscow is the playmaker that Milan have in mind, and Marc Roca of Espanyol is the deep-lying midfielder that the Rossoneri want.*

*For the former, the Rossoneri would like to insert a counterpart to lower the high demand of the Russians, while the negotiation for the Spaniard could take off for a fee of just €15-16million.*

*AC Milan director Paolo Maldini is keen on pursuing a move for Napoli winger Hirving Lozano this summer, according to a report.*

*The Rossoneri were extensively linked with a move for Lozano while he was at PSV Eindhoven and while he ended up in Serie A, it was with rivals Napoli that he chose to sign.*

*According to Calciomercato.it however, the chapter might not yet be closed as Milan could get their hands on Lozano, who is ready to leave Napoli possibly even on loan.*

*The report adds that Milan’s priorities are the renewals of Donnarumma, Ibrahimovic and Calhanoglu, but then the focus will be hunting for new purchases. The ideas are very clear: the club need a full-back, a centre-back, a midfielder and a winger.*

*Lozano could help fill the latter need as the Mexico international has not had the best first season in Naples. The report then cites Tuttosport in claiming that Lozano – who has five goals and two assists in 37 appearances this season – can leave on loan.*

*The possibility of a move to Parma could be open as Gervinho is set to leave, but if Maldini and Milan were to move definitively then it could be too tempting.*

📰Gazzetta: Probably, as soon as the season ends, Paolo Maldini and Stefano Pioli will have a meeting. They will speak about the plans for the next season.

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are also amongst the clubs who are interested in signing Chelsea-linked Getafe full-back Marc Cucurella this summer.

Getafe signed the full-back on a permanent deal at the end of the season for €6m after he impressed last season on loan.

But the former Barcelona defender could be on his way out of the Madrid club this summer as there is considerable interest in his services.

Chelsea have identified him as a cheaper alternative to Ben Chilwell and are reportedly prepared to pay a fee of €30m for him ahead of the new season.

And according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, AC Milan and Dortmund are also keeping a close watch on his situation.

His impressive performances in La Liga have led to interest from the big wigs of Europe and it remains to be seen whether Getafe decide to cash in on him this summer itself and make a hefty profit.

Barcelona are also watching the situation closely as part of their agreement with Getafe, they will net 10 per cent of any future transfer fee.
