Report: Milan want Jovic on loan with obligation to buy
an hour ago / autty
Milan are reportedly ready to make a move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, hoping to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.

Spanish newspaper Diario AS report the Rossoneri have targeted the Serbian striker as an alternative for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swede has scored 10 goals in six Serie A games this term, but the veteran has struggled with a series of injuries this term and is out until January.

Milan are reportedly hoping to sign Jovic, who completed a €63m move from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2019, on a six-month loan with an obligation to buy.

The 22-year-old has struggled to convince in the Spanish capital, and he has only played four times in La Liga this term. Jovic has scored two goals in 32 games for Los Blancos.

📰 @86_longo: A 5-year contract is ready for defender Mohamed Simakan. AC Milan allocated €15M (fixed sum + bonus) for the this deal. Strasbourg would like €18M/€20M.
Simakan is becoming an increasingly concrete track. https://t.co/iCXSgpdlEE

Sassuolo 1-2 AC Milan: Five things we learned – leading by example and a gem on our hands
By Ivan Stoev - 21 December 2020, 15:49
After two frustrating draws in the Serie A, Milan bounced back in style against an in-form Sassuolo side, grabbing all three points at the Mapei Stadium.

Despite all the absentees, the Rossoneri looked sharper compared to the previous two games and seemed determined to send a message to the league.

Pioli’s men needed only six seconds to open the scoring through Rafael Leao, making in the fastest goal in the history of the top five leagues in Europe.

Just after the 25-minute mark, it was Theo Hernandez showcasing his speed to bypass the whole left flank before passing the ball to Alexis Saelemaekers who put the ball in the back of the net from close range.

The game was running smoothly for Milan, but it was 89th minute when Berardi managed to pull one back for Sassuolo, but it wasn’t enough as the league leaders got all three points.

Here are five things we learned from the game…

1. Leading by example
With a lot of absentees, Milan seemed in trouble ahead of the game against an in-form side, but it was the defence that stepped up this time around, neutralising Sassuolo’s attack.

In particular, Romagnoli was a true leader at the back. Had a lot of clearances and good interceptions throughout the game. It’s been a few good performances in a row for Alessio now, who was hounded after coming back from injury but seems to be picking up the pace now and keeping the critics quiet.

2. Milan have themselves a gem
Kalulu was an interesting signing back in the summer, but no one really thought he was going to slot in the squad straight away due to his age.

However, with Kjaer and Gabbia being injured, the youngster was forced into action and is continuing to impress despite not playing in his preferred right-back position.

Kalulu left the difficult display against Genoa behind him and bounced back in the Sassuolo game, being almost flawless. His confidence on the ball helps him a lot as does his pace to close the gaps down fast and intercept. An exciting player for the future.

3. Great reaction

After two frustrating draws people and fans were starting to assume that the good run for Milan is at an end. However, the Rossoneri had only one thought on their mind, that is winning and sending a message to Serie A.

When you think about it, the team was missing Kjaer, Gabbia, Bennacer, Rebic and Zlatan, but managed to shut the critics down and further grew on confidence before the final game of the year against Lazio.

Milan’s youngsters stepped up with Hakan and Romagnoli leading them and showed their potential and how much they have grown mentally.

That’s all down to great work by Pioli and the mindset Ibrahimovic has brought into the squad and with January around the corner Milan will hopefully reinforce themselves and push harder in the Serie A and Europe.

4. Stepping up a gear
Hakan Calhanoglu was behind the first goal of the game and was silently dictating the game before being subbed off, and he even had a goal ruled out because of a marginal offside in the build-up.

It much better performance for him as he finally stepped up in Zlatan’s absence, becoming the team’s leader by pulling the strings and creating plenty.

It was a good performance overall for Hakan as he was all over the place and Milan will surely need him to step up yet again against Lazio.

5. Dilemma solved
With Ante Rebic being injured it was Rafael Leao to play up front for Milan. The Portuguese scored just over six seconds into the game to give his team the lead, and he had a good game overall. While his work rate isn’t as that of Rebic, he was more in the right areas and his dribble makes him a constant threat.

Rebic and Theo Hernandez have a great connection on the left and it seems to work well when both of them are on that flank. With Leao drifting in and out of games at times it only makes sense to leave him play on top of the attack as he can easily beat players with his pace and skills leaving Rebic to provide from the left.

Report: AC Milan agree terms with defender
Posted on December 21, 2020 by Rossonero

AC Milan have agreed personal terms with Mohamed Simakan and are looking to reach a deal with RC Strasbourg, a report claims.
Mohamed Simakan seems to be AC Milan’s top transfer target to reinforce the defenve. The Rossoneri management are keeping a lot of possibilities open but the 20-year-old Frenchman is the profile that interests most.

The Red and Blacks tried to purchase Simakan until the very last hours of the summer transfer window but without success. However, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are trying again and hope to have better luck in January.

According to reports Footmercato.net, Maldini greatly appreciates Simakan and is speeding up contacts with the player and his agent. A new offer is expected to reach RC Strasbourg in the coming days.

AC Milan hope to close a quick deal for the talented French central defender. However, a number of clubs are also keeping tabs on his situation with Red Bull Leipzig and Wolverhampton quite interested.

Di Marzio: Transfer updates on Depay, Scamacca, Jovic and Simakan
Posted on December 21, 2020 by Rossonero

Transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has responded to questions on AC Milan’s transfer targets on Twitter.
The January transfer window opens in a few days and AC Milan are expected to be quite active. The budget available to Paolo Maldini and Massara to strengthen the squad is not yet clear but Elliot have approved the signing of a new defender and a centre forward.

Until recently, a new striker was not a priority for the club but Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s recent injury has changed the initial plans of the club. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio gives an updates on AC Milan’s transfer targets.

In recent days, players like Memphis Depay, Gianluca Scamacca and Luka Jovic have been mention as possible targets but according to Di Marzio neither is on AC Milan’s list. Apparently the Rossoneri are looking at other names.

Instead Di Marzio confirms rumors on Mohamed Simakan. “For Maldini, Simakan is the first choice (and not Ozan Kabak)“, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

FootMercato reports from France that AC Milan have already agreed a five-year contract with Simakan. The 20-year-old French defender was very close to joining AC Milan in the summer but the Rossoneri were unable to agree a transfer fee with RC Strasbourg. Strasbourg demanded at least 20 million while Milan wouldn’t go beyond 15 millions plus ad-ons.

Serie A Preview: #ACMilan v #Lazio

Milan - Lazio

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

Milan seem to march on despite their mounting absentee list, but Franck Kessie is a big loss, especially after Lazio’s morale-boosting win over Napoli.
The Rossoneri need a victory to be sure of staying top of the table through Christmas, but Kessie is one of those players who is rarely left out and it remains to be seen how he’ll affect the balance of the side, especially with Ismael Bennacer and possibly also Sandro Tonali out too. Hakan Calhanoglu could therefore move into his old, deeper role.
Ciro Immobile inspired Lazio’s 2-0 win against Napoli to get the Aquile back in the race for the top spots, as the Champions League commitments are done for now, so they can exclusively focus on Serie A.
Form Guide: Milan (W D D W W) Lazio (W D L W L)

BREAKING: #Napoli win their appeal against #Juventus 3-0 defeat and -1 penalty.

The Serie A table is therefore automatically transformed today, as Juventus drop from 27 points to 24, while Napoli climb to 24.

Milan are now reportedly optimistic of having both Ante Rebic and Sandro Tonali back against Lazio, but the decision will be made today.

Pioli must cope without having Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer and Matteo Gabbia, who are all out with injuries. Also Franck Kessie is suspended and bot Rebic and Tonali must be evaluated.

However, Corriere della Sera now reports that Milan are optimistic about having both Rebic and Tonali ready for the match against Lazio as this is a huge game before the Holiday break.

AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu has insisted that he doesn’t mind which position he plays in as long as he can play.

It has been ten huge days for Kalulu, who has basically exploded onto the scene between the 10th and 20th of December, a period in which he played four games and his first four for Milan.

The Frenchman had not made a single appearance for the Rossoneri before then and a loan in January seemed the best solution for everyone, but now he appears to be fourth spot in the hierarchy and above both Musacchio and Duarte.

The most amazing this is he did it as a centre-back and not as a full-back, his main role during the Lyon youth sector, and the breakthrough came in training as confessed by Pioli.

Kalulu spoke to SportMediaset about his rise to prominence and answered the all-important question about which role he prefers, though he was predictably diplomatic.

“Full-back or central for me it’s the same because in Lyon I covered both roles, in the U21s I played more to the right, so I can play almost anywhere. What do I prefer? It’s the same. What I prefer is to play,” he said (via MilanNews).

On Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “I saw and followed him throughout my adolescence, when he came to Paris, when he was in Manchester, even before here in Milan. Ibra is an absolute example.”

On his targets for the season: “I’d like it if we were to win something, but the coach always reminds us that it’s difficult to get there, you have to work every day to hope to win something this season.”

🤝 #ACMilan and Hakan Calhanoglu are finally moving closer to reaching an agreement, with #MUFC now in the background...
