Hakan Calhanoglu’s representatives meet with Milan today, as the Rossoneri have reportedly increased their offer to €4m a season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Milan have offered the Turkey international a contract worth €4m plus bonuses every year.

The attacker has become a key member under coach Stefano Pioli, as the Diavolo sit first in Serie A after 17 games.

Calhanoglu’s entourage will meet the club today to continue negotiations, but Tuttosport also claims the 26-year-old is close to renewing with the Rossoneri.

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed former Milan transfer target Luka Jovic is returning to Germany on loan from Real Madrid.

The reports had emerged earlier today that Jovic was available to leave the Bernabeu on a six-month loan deal.

Although Milan had been interested, particularly over the summer, he has chosen a return to Eintracht Frankfurt.

“Luka Jovic is on the verge of a loan to us until the summer,” confirmed Eintracht director of sport Fredi Bobic on Sky Sports Deutschland.

“We still need to sort out a few things, for example the medical. If it all comes together, he’ll soon be back with us.”

Eintracht Frankfurt sold Jovic to Real Madrid for €63m in July 2019, but he struggled to make an impact.

AC Milan have joined three other clubs in the race to land young Bayern Munich forward Leon Dajaku, according to a report.

Goal in Italy are reporting that the Rossoneri have joined Union Berlin, Koln and OGC Nice in pursuit of Dajaku, who could change clubs in the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in Bayern’s system at the moment but has not yet played in the Bundesliga this season, instead scoring three times in 14 games for their second team, who play in the 3. Liga.

Dajaku, for his part, is aiming to leave Bayern as he would like to get more playing time with a senior team rather than with Bayern II, as it seems his path is blocked at the moment.

While Union Berlin and Koln are places where he could settle more quickly, the left winger has ‘fascinating options’ on the table in Milan and Nice.

Dajaku ended up in the crosshairs of Italian and English teams last summer and had thought of a move, but in the end nothing materialised.

The player’s entourage has had contact with the four clubs who are interested in signing him on loan with option to buy, the report concludes.

Marco Frigerio has been added to the first team squad in recent fixtures having been promoted from the Primavera side, and we are delighted to be able to interview the young midfielder.

The 19-year-old has been part of the club for the past nine years and has made his way up through the ranks. With the Rossoneri been in somewhat of a squad depth crisis of late, Marco has made the step up and given his availability for Pioli in recent weeks.

Frigerio boasts 50 appearances with Federico Giunti’s Primavera team, in which he has scored three goals, and his natural position is as a holding midfielder.

SempreMilan are privileged to have spoken to him about his career thus far and what the last few weeks have been like…

Marco, thank you for taking part in the interview. First of all, congratulations for recently been called up to the first team. From a personal view how did it feel?

“Hello, thank you. It was a thrill to be present at the San-Siro and see your team win in the last seconds, truly indescribable, even if I know that this is only the starting point.”

I bet it was an incredible feeling for you. Now that you have been in the first team, are you hoping to make your debut sooner than you may have expected? Considering the chances given by the club to its youth players…

“Of course, I can’t wait to play my cards. I have to keep working and improving and if the opportunity arises, I will have to be ready.”

Do you believe the Primavera are in a position to achieve great things next season?

“Honestly, I think we can compete for the title. Of course, there are very strong teams, but we have excellent potential, both as individuals and as a group.”

From a personal view what are your hopes and aspirations for the future?

“I aim to improve myself more and more, I hope to have a chance in the first team and will have to be good at exploiting it.”

Do you hope one day to play for the national team?

“Yes of course, this would also be a great dream of mine, to play in a major tournament representing Italy. It would truly be beautiful.”

We have seen how close the club as whole is. Who would you say is your best friend at the club?

“Let’s say that having been here for 9 years I have seen many friends come and many leave. So, I do not have a real best friend, but I certainly have many. This is important for having a solid and united group.”

Growing up, who was your idol?

“My idol has always been Iniesta. I still watch his Barcelona videos today; he is truly an extraordinary player. But in my opinion, I see myself more in Rakitic’s style of play.”

If you weren’t a footballer what do you think you’d be?

“Honestly, I can’t see myself out of this sport. So, I would always do something football related, maybe the coach [laughs].”

Maybe one day you’ll be the manager of the first tea!. When you are not playing football, what do you like to do?

“Maybe [laughs]! Well I really like fishing, but in the periods when I can’t I love being in the company of my girlfriend. Going for walks or in the shopping centre and going out with my friends.”

When you go out with your girlfriend or your friends what is your favourite thing to eat?

“In the summer, definitely ice cream! While when it comes to going for dinner, we try to vary it a bit, but we love sushi and pizza.”

If you could make a five-a-side team based on past players and present what would it be?

“In goal I would put Donnarumma. In defence Maldini, the midfield would be Iniesta and Xavi and in attack Messi.”

A strong side! Finally do you have a message for the Milan fans?

“For years, Milan has not been in the place that it deserves, now finally thanks to Mr Pioli and the fantastic group that has been created, we are at the top of the table where Milan must be. I hope we will continue to do great things, also at a European level and I personally hope to be part of this wonderful group.”

MN: Kalulu’s growth makes Lyon regret – his value now much more than the €500k paid

With seemingly every appearance he makes Pierre Kalulu justifies why the AC Milan management decided to pursue him so aggressively.

As MilanNews reports, the 20-year-old is proving to be up to the task and when called upon he has not yet disappointed despite his lack of experience, and Kalulu even earned the accolade of man of the match in yesterday’s penalty shootout win over Torino.

After the initial skepticism towards him, Kalulu continues to show that he can play both right-back and centre-back to a more than adequate standard in Italy, and the large margins for improvement are evident.

Milan paid just €500k to sign him from Lyon and once again the Rossoneri scouting department has proven to be effective, because just eight appearances later he already appears to be worth much more than what he was paid six months ago.

Kalulu represents a big regret for Lyon, to the extent that their fans have berated president Jean Michel Aulas and the coach Rudi Garcia for letting a young talent like Pierre leave too easily.

Meanwhile, Paolo Maldini and all of Milan are enjoying the player, who is yet another proof of the solidity of the work of the entire management.

Antonio Cassano: “If Inter loses to Juve on Sunday, just like the bianconeri if they had lost to Milan, there is a sensational risk of getting out of the Scudetto fight. Because Juve never wins in Milan, the games are over. Because Juve arrives.” [TMW]

Despite signing Soualiho Meité from Torino, the emergency of players’ availability seems severe at Milan with Steefano Pioli having slim choices.

According to Sky, Milan risks going into an emergency even against Cagliari: Leao will not be there as he is disqualified due to his recent yellow card.

Alexis Saelemaekers is not yet very well and will hardly be able to recover. Hakan Calhanoglu and Theo Hernandez have not trained today and therefore are in doubt for the trip to Sardinia. Not even Ismael Bennacer or Matteo Gabbia will be available.
