Curva Sud shares message ahead of the derby on Sunday

AC Milan will play a very important derby against Inter in the league in hopes of regaining the leading position in the Serie A rankings.
Obviously, the fans cannot be present in the stadium, however, the Curva Sud Milano have shared the following message to kickstart an intiative that should motivate the fans. The message was shared on the curvasudmilano.it. It reads the following

“For exactly one year we have been far from our team, stadium, and Curva and this is proving to be a very heavy absence for the players who, despite this distance, have honored our jersey to a great extent. We have been following Milan from our homes in front of TV screens for a year but this will never be our place. Our place is only the one from which we can transmit emotions to the team, the one from which we can drag it and push it to attack, the one towards which every Milan player can look up and proudly admire the fire and flames of our love for the team: Our place is the Curva Sud.
For obvious reasons we can’t go back yet but we can do one thing:
MEET US ON SUNDAY AT 12.30 IN SAN SIRO
IN FRONT OF THE GATE 14*

🗣️ Fabrizio Romano has an interview with Jens Petter Hauge. The winger talks about:

👉Haaland's advice
👉Training with Ibrahimovic
👉His move to AC Milan and much more 👇

Jens Petter Hauge joined AC Milan in the summer transfer window after he’s impressed the club. Since then, the young winger has been making some appearances and showing glimpses of quality.
Certainly, the Rossoneri fans expect a lot from the Norwegian talent who should be unleashed at full speed at any given moment once he’s fully adapted to the team and country.
CBS Sports interviewed Jens Petter Hauge recently, and he recounted that moment of the opportunity to move to AC Milan.

“I remember the days before the match, I was really focusing and wanted to do well because I know how football works, and a game like this can open doors, I prepared well and I remember the night before I was talking with my best friend and the captain of the team about how AC Milan is such a big club.”

“To play here must be amazing and we talked about how they play and the players they have and we said that it can be possible. I remember we were training in the morning before the match and we had to drive like 40 minutes.

I was mad; I just wanted to relax and prepare and we had to drive to the place where the AC Milan youth team plays. We were in the other part of Milano and it was a long drive to get the day going.

When I walked into San Siro for the first time, I just looked around and I was really happy. I thought that this could be a good place for me.”

Hauge added he will never forget the call from his agents Atta Aneke and Patrick Bastianelli to inform him of AC Milan’s intention to buy:

“When they called me … it was a good feeling. I was ready. I just had to play one more game with Bodo and there we go and get things started. At that point I was ready to move on from Norway. I wanted to go abroad and have a new challenge.”

On the Rossoneri’s season so far:
“We are doing well in our league but there are still many more points to fight for, and also in Europa League I think we have the chance to be one of the last teams remaining, I think we can beat them all. But of course there are some really good teams, especially some English clubs that are really solid.”

Among the friends who advised him to accept AC Milan’s offer was Erling Haaland, the Norwegian star of Borussia Dortmund. Hauge said Haaland stressed patience in the process:

“Yes, we talk a lot … especially in the summer because I almost joined a Belgian club and we were talking. Haaland agreed that maybe it was better if I turned this offer down and waited for a better one. When we spoke after that match against AC Milan, he told me: “Go for it, it will be good. Playing at AC Milan will be hard of course. You have to work on stuff with the language but I think it will be good.’ And now I’m really happy with the choice.”
On training and playing with Ibrahimovic:

“I remember I came to the dressing room with a new hat and Zlatan was saying: ‘Are you working as a pizza maker or are you playing football?’ I like when people are joking! He can help me with the language because we speak almost the same language so we can talk together in another language.”

Galliani: “My heart remained a Rossonero, and about the Belgrade fog…”

These are the words released to Sky by Adriano Galliani, CEO of Monza and former Milan manager:
“We, Monza, want to go to Serie A, we built the team for this even if football is not an exact science. We are second, there are still many games, we can lose a game. We hope that the defeat against Pisa is it was just one episode.”
On Milan:
“The last weekend was complicated for me because of Milan and Monza. I am a fan of Monza of course, but I am still a great Milan fan. My heart has remained absolutely Rossoneri. We must not forget the good things he did. Milan so far, we can’t just look at the last defeat. Finally we will have a Milan derby between two teams that are in the top two places.”

Former AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has advised Zlatan Ibrahimovic to finish his career with the Rossoneri, and confessed that he is rooting for Inter as well as Milan this season.

Berlusconi – who took over the Rossoneri when they were on the verge of bankruptcy back in 1986 – oversaw the most successful period in the club’s history, and he has never been shy about giving his opinion on his former club since.

The Rossoneri won 29 major trophies during Berlusconi’s tenure including seven European Cup/Champions League trophies, and he brought some of the biggest names in world football to the San Siro.

Berlusconi spoke to Sky Italia during an event for his current club Monza, and he began by discussing the derby against Inter, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews.

“As a Milanese citizen, I happen to cheer for Inter too. Obviously my heart is a Milan fan and on Sunday I will certainly cheer for Milan,” he said.

Milan will travel to the Marakana in Belgrade tonight to face Red Star again in a fixture that evokes memories both from 1988 and 2006, both of which Berlusconi was the owner for.

“Sometimes these good memories come to mind. Milan has been an important part of my life.”
“Any advice to Pioli? Maybe I’ll give him a call… (smiles)”.

Finally, on Ibrahimovic: “His career has to end in a great way and therefore I recommend that he finish it at Milan.”

#ACMilan have progressed past the Round of 32 in the #UEL in 8 of their last 10 seasons. The only exceptions were defeats to Espanyol in 1987-99 and Werder Bremen in 2008-09. https://t.co/Z7TEdUkeGH

Milan seemed to have got the job done away at Red Star Belgrade this evening as with a 2-1 lead, and one man up, they headed into stoppage time. However, the home side equalised at the death via a corner.

Starting XI

Donnarumma (6): Didn’t have that much to do besides the two goals conceded, both on set pieces, but was solid as usual between the sticks. He should be upset with his teammates for conceding that late goal.

Kalulu (6): You can see that he’s still very young, but it was a good display from him this evening. Started the game with a great move in attack and was also solid defensively throughout the game, though with a few lost balls to his name.

Tomori (6): Just like Kalulu, he did most of the things right and also stood out on a few occasions. He’s a tough player to meet for the opponent, but in duels and pace-wise, but he can improve his passing a little.

Romagnoli (5.5): Committed a very silly handball to gift Red Star a penalty in the second half. He was also a bit out of position on a few occasions, and it seems the fans are getting tired of these silly mistakes.

Hernandez (7): Worked hard on the left-hand side and that resulted in several chances up front, as he found his way into the box. He got a goal disallowed but got paid for his hard in the second half, winning a penalty and then converting it.

Bennacer (N/A): He looked solid at the start of the game but had to leave the pitch with an injury after 40 minutes of play. It didn’t look good for him and it seems he will miss the game against Inter.

Meite (6): I don’t have that many complaints about the Frenchman, as he was decent when he got the ball and kept his position well. Perhaps, though, he could be a bit more involved in the overall play.

Castillejo (6.5): Bright performance from the outcast as he had an advantage on his defender, often making his way out of situations. He was important for keeping possession and also set up the own-goal with his cross.

Krunic (6): Not terrible from the former Empoli man and certainly a lot better than we have seen from him as of late. Looked very good in the first half but in the last 45, he made a few avoidable mistakes on the ball.

Rebic (N/A): He looked full of energy on the left-wing and could have had a goal in the first half, just about failing to hit the target. Was taken off at half-time, so it’s hard to give him a rating.

Mandzukic (6): Being used to Ibrahimovic, it was a bit different and Manzukic often drifted out of position. Having said that, he was an important reference point and won several duels to set up the attack. Not quite there yet, though.

Substitutes

Tonali (7): Came on to replace Bennacer and did really well at the centre of the park, a lot more comfortable on the ball as he dropped down deep. Did very well to help Milan control the game and he also set up the second goal.

Leao (5.5): He didn’t have much impact on the game although he managed to get past the defenders once or twice. Perhaps with a bit more time, the rating would have been higher but we just didn’t see much of him.

Dalot (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating.

Calhanoglu (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating.

Journalist harshly suggests Romagnoli’s growth ‘stopped when he was 21’

Alessio Romagnoli received some criticism after his performance against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday, at fault for a handball with a sloppy handball. Certainly, there have been some doubts about the captain.

The defender remains an important player for Milan, having been the captain for quite some time now, but he hasn’t progressed the way made had hoped. And with competition increasing in his role, his cemented starting spot has been questioned.

During the game against Red Star, Mediaset and Calciomercato journalist Dario Donato shared his thoughts on Romagnoli and his growth in the last few years. Perhaps harshly, he wrote that the defender hasn’t improved in the last five years.
