CM: Hellas Verona rejected ‘rich’ offer from Milan for playmaker as Napoli knock on the door
By Oliver Fisher - 2 March 2021, 11:13
AC Milan are one of the teams that have shown an interest in Hellas Verona star Antonin Barak, according to a report.

After a goal against Milan, another decisive one against Napoli and his most recent tally that gave Hellas Verona a gold point against Juventus, Barak is beginning to attract some admiring glances, according to Calciomercato.com.

After some difficult seasons due to injuries, this year the music has changed completely as Barak is an absolute protagonist of Ivan Juric’s Verona. With six league goals and three assists, Barak has rediscovered his form from his first season in Serie A with Udinese.

The Czech international is a mature player, ready to make the jump to a bigger club. The report adds how back in the summer of 2018, Udinese decided to reject a rich offer from Milan.

Napoli asked for information about him as part of the Mattia Zaccagni operation, while in the Premier League there are several teams ready to take the opportunity. To snatch him from the Venetian club they will need to offer at least €13million

CM: Milan convinced Brazilian represents best profile for the right wing – he has overtaken Thauvin

By Oliver Fisher - 2 March 2021, 11:20

AC Milan have changed their strategy regarding their pursuit of two potential free agent targets, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com writes how Milan are continuing to work on trying to sign Otavio on a free transfer, as he would like to leave Porto at the expiry of his contract in June to try a new experience in the Italian league. Roma are also interested in Roma as coach Paulo Fonseca who knows him well and appreciates his qualities.

Otavio wants to wear the Rossoneri shirt though, honoured by the interest of such an important club, and he has turned down two rich offers from clubs from the United Arab Emirates because he is waiting for Milan.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are convinced that the characteristics of the former Internacional star are perfect for the job that Stefano Pioli asks of his wingers: speed with or without the ball, quality in dribbling and application even in the non-possession phase.

Not only that, but Otavio has surpassed Florian Thauvin in terms of preference to sign as there is a slight slowdown in the talks regarding the Frenchman even if the negotiation with his entourage has not completely failed. A pause for reflection both of a technical and economic nature, as Thauvin wants a salary of €3m.

AC Milan are continuing to consider a move for Torino striker Andrea Belotti and are even willing to make a sizeable offer, according to a report.

Corriere Granata – part of the TMW network – reports how Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s main attacking partner for next season could be none other than Belotti. The Rossoneri are getting closer and closer to securing a return to the Champions League, and from this they hope to have a base to attract players and bolster the squad.

Torino president Urbano Cairo made it clear last week that he is ready to try and secure the renewal of Belotti, whose current deal expires in June 2022. Even if they avoid relegation comfortably, allowing Belotti to prepare at a more relaxed pace for the European Championships in June and July, the moment has arrived for the captain to make step forward in his career.

The report adds that Milan are willing to put around €30m on the table for the 27-year-old which appears a ‘plausible and rather realistic figure’. Il Toro did not sell him when they could have got almost double, but they enjoyed his services for many more years.

Since becoming AC Milan’s technical director, Paolo Maldini has had a big say in the restructuring of the squad and his footprint on it is evident.

As TMW writes, Fikayo Tomori offered a glimpse of his qualities during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Roma at the Olimpico and certainly has the potential to become the next success with regards to Milan’s defensive recruitment. The Englishman is on loan with option to buy from Chelsea, but he reaffirms a starting point: this Milan, when it comes to choosing defenders, knows how to do it.

The importance of being Paolo Maldini cannot be understated as the imprint of the technical director is undeniable. He has made targeted signings, even at the cost of going against the tide, as seen with the purchase of Theo Hernandez. He seemed to be yet another player destined to fail at Real Madrid and fade into obscurity, but today he is the best left-back in the league.

Simon Kjaer arrived quietly too, but the Dane is the real certainty of Pioli’s rearguard. Maldini explained his involvement in a very young team in this way: “If I hadn’t had Baresi and Tassotti at my side, I wouldn’t have done what I did, I felt safe with them.”

It is also a question of charisma, because Maldini’s influence in negotiations when it comes to persuading players is important too. Theo himself said it: “Maldini was fundamental for me, when he called me I had no doubts.” Tomori said the same a few weeks ago: “The greatest ever, after the call I didn’t think about it much.”

He made a difference on the pitch, he also makes a difference in management.

The embrace after the very important victory in Rome is yet another sign of how close-knit the management are, according to a report.

As MilanNews writes, there was warm hug between Paolo Maldini, Frederic Massara and Ivan Gazidis after the game, the trio who remain close to the squad even in difficult moments. Their presence at Milanello during the week is now customary, as well as at home matches and even those away from San Siro.

Last night, all three unloaded a certain adrenaline and tension accumulated during the 95 minutes and having snatched a fundamental result both in the scheme of the top four battle but also to conquer the recent difficulties.

Milan changed their way of thinking and planning the future after a period of misunderstandings while everyone got to know each other. There were different views on the mercato and on how to manage the club, and between intelligent people the obstacles were overcame.

Immediately after Boban’s dismissal, Gazidis modelled his way of thinking after the first few months, because perhaps he needed to experience what football in Italy and what Milan were like, but Maldini also came close to Gazidis’ thinking on economic management, believing that in this historical period no one can afford crazy expenses.

After years of internal strife and corporate problems, this is exactly what the club needed.

🎙Ben Jacobs, BeIN Sports Middle Eastern Correspondent: “It's all true. PIF investigated the possibility of acquiring a minority stake in Inter.

It was said that Yasir Al Rumayyan was involved in the talks. An investment of up to 30% was discussed which, based on Suning's highest valuation, would be 300 million euros.

Nothing has been agreed, but this option could give Suning the option not to sell. I am told that the fund does not want to buy Inter outright, contrary to the BC Partners & Fortress approach.

One idea might have been to partner with Fortress, which made a joint bid alongside the UAE's Mubadala Investment Company in February. But in the end, nothing came of it. There are conflicting reports as to whether BC Partners is still ahead or whether the € 800 million acquisition deal has gone awry.

Suning said he would still prefer to find a way not to sell the club, hence the appeal to the PIF. But everything is still in the preliminary phase. "
