Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery is dead

KENYA: Waziri wa Mambo ya Ndani, Luteni Jenerali Mstaafu, Joseph Nkaissery(67) amefariki saa chache baada ya kufikishwa katika Hospitali ya Karen iliyopo Jijini Nairobi kwaajili ya kufanyiwa uchunguzi baada ya kujisikia vibaya.

Taarifa hizi za Tanzia zimetolewa na Katibu Mkuu Kiongozi na Mkuu wa Utumishi wa Umma, Joseph Kinyua.

Interior Cabinet secretary, Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery, is dead. Nkaissery died suddenly a few hours after being admitted at the Karen Hospital in Nairobi for a check-up, the State House announced.

According to a statement by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, Nkaissery fell unwell and was rushed to the city hospital for check up only to pass on a few hours later.

“It is with deep sorrow and shock that we announce the sudden passing on of Interior CS General (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery,” read the State House statement.

“Gen. Nkaissery passed on at Karen Hospital in Nairobi a few hours after being admitted for a check-up.”

“The country to be updated as more information becomes available.” Nkaissery was aged 67 at the time of his death.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery is dead.

The CS died at Karen Hospital, a few hours after he was admitted for check-up.

Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Joseph Kinyua confirmed the news in a statement early on Saturday.

"The country to be updated as more information becomes available," Mr Kinyua said.

Sources close to Mr Nkaissery said he went to Karen Hospital at around 3pm after leaving Uhuru Park where he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta at a prayer event.

"He actually looked okay but he said he needed to go to hospital as he was not feeling well," the source said.

His body has been moved to Lee Funeral Home.

President Kenyatta picked Mr Nkaissery from the opposition to head the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government on December 2, 2014, to replace Joseph Ole Lenku.

Before that, he was the member of parliament for Kajiado Central constituency on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
