JuveReal, the statistics

The Bianconeri stretch their unbeaten home run in European competitions to 13 games following last night’s 2-1 Champions League semi-final first leg win against Real Madrid

The Bianconeri stretched their unbeaten home run in European competitions to 13 games after overcoming Real Madrid 2-1 during yesterday’s Champions League semi-final first leg at Juventus Stadium.
Massimiliano Allegri’s men went ahead early on when former Los Blancos star Alvaro Morata bagged his third goal in five appearances in Europe this term, tapping in from close range.
The visitors soon hit back through Cristiano Ronaldo before Carlos Tevez’s second-half penalty ensured Juventus would take a slender advantage to Madrid next week.
L’Apache’s strike means he’s now equalled his personal record of 29 in all competitions set with Manchester City and has also become the first Bianconero since David Trezeguet in the 2005/06 season to hit a similar total.
More of the numbers behind yesterday’s triumph can be found below:
Two
Lay-offs provided by Claudio Marchisio as he looked to be the man to turn defence into attack.
Three
Out of the five crosses Juventus pumped into the Real Madrid area, three came from Stephan Lichtsteiner’s right boot.
Four
Interceptions made by Leonardo Bonucci, who put in an admirable shift at the back alongside Giorgio Chiellini.
Seven
Champions League goals for Tevez this season, one more than in his five other campaigns combined (six).
Nine
Recoveries performed by Arturo Vidal throughout the encounter. The tenacious Chilean also created two chances, won three tackles and led the way in terms of touches (84).
62
Passes delivered by Andrea Pirlo, with the midfielder also threading 11 good long balls.
100
Percentage of tackles successfully completed by everyone in a black and white jersey.

Lichtsteiner: “Knuckling down for Real”

The Swiss defender previews Wednesday’s Champions League clash: “We need to prepare well for the game but we think we can pull off a result. We’re ready for it”

Stephan Lichtsteiner says Juventus will approach Wednesday’s Champions League return leg against Real Madrid with confidence but warns the fine margin between winning and losing at the semi-final stage means their preparations will have to be spot on.
Bolstered by a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, the Bianconeri travel to the Santiago Bernabeu looking to wrap up a spot in the competition’s final for the first time in 12 years.
But with last year’s reigning European champions to tackle in front of an 80,000 capacity crowd in the Spanish capital, Lichtsteiner appreciates a perfect display will be required if Juventus are to take their dream to the final hurdle in Berlin.
Speaking to Jtv, the Swiss defender began: “At this stage of the competition it all boils down to the details - there’s a fine line between winning and losing.
“We’ve improved with every game we’ve played and conceded very few goals. They have great quality in every department, it’s not just about Ronaldo. We need to prepare well for the game but we think we can pull it off.
“We put in a great performance during the first leg, unfortunately there’s also a return match to be played and it will be a really difficult one for us. We’ll need to put in a brilliant display and we’re ready for it.”
When quizzed on the team’s league campaign, Lichtsteiner spoke of the “pride” felt by all of the players after pulling off a “fantastic” feat, especially in light of the managerial overhaul that took place in the summer.
“Winning the league was our aim and the fact we’ve managed to do so fills us with pride. The change of coach in the summer was a difficult moment for us, but we knew that Allegri was an experienced coach and a winner so we were confident. We’ve enjoyed an important campaign and achieving a fourth consecutive Scudetto is fantastic.”

Chiellini: “The biggest one yet”

Giorgio Chiellini is under no illusions of the magnitude of Wednesday’s semi-final return leg against Real Madrid: “It’s our most important game in 12 years”

Giorgio Chiellini says the Bianconeri are eager to run out at the Santiago Bernabeu and play the club’s “most prestigious and important” game for the last 12 years, Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final return leg against Real Madrid.
A steady run to the competition’s final four and last week’s 2-1 first-leg victory over Los Blancos mean Juventus travel to Spain with high hopes of reaching June’s final act in Berlin, but the defender says there’s a long way to go until supporters can start booking their flights to the German capital.
Speaking to Sky, Chiellini began: “We can’t wait for Wednesday evening to come. This is the most prestigious and important game I’ll be playing in since I joined the club. I’ve been here for ten years and 12 have gone past since we last reached a semi-final.
“We’ve got better and matured as the competition’s worn on and getting past the last 16 and then the quarter-finals gave us added awareness in our own abilities.
“We’ve never been as close as we are now, but we’ve still got 95 really tough minutes to get through. The final’s still a long way away and we’ll need a super performance to get there.”
One of the Bianconeri’s aims will be to silence a feisty 80,000 capacity crowd in Madrid, with Chiellini looking to draw inspiration from his previous victorious experience at the famous footballing venue.-
“The entire stadium will be right behind them and we’ll have to try and put them under pressure. They are, however, experienced internationals who certainly won’t be intimidated by the odd whistle by their own fans.
“We know that we can’t park the bus and try to keep it goalless, but we need to do well when covering and breaking out from the back.
“I’ve played at the Bernabeu twice and we hope it doesn’t end like last year, when we lost and I was sent off, but instead like the first game, when we won thanks to Del Piero’s dou
