President Uhuru Kenyatta and Devolution CS Anne Waiguru are this year's recipient of the Middle East Africa Awards.
The award is presented by the Middle East Africa awards and investment roundtable which was established to foster relationships between Middle East and Africa region.
Waiguru has won the prestigious good governance award for her distinguished work in devolution in the country.
This year, eleven awards including recognition awards under three broad categories covering individual, corporate and public sector awards were bestowed on deserving winners.
"The Ministry of Devolution has midwifed devolution thus this far and in its continued support to county governments, ultimately promoting and fostering trade and investment opportunities' and presented a unique governance model that would easily be replicated by other African countries," read a citation on Waiguru's recognition for the award.
"It is for this reason that we would like to recognize the efforts of the youthful and phenomenal woman leader who is the Cabinet Secretary of the Devolution Ministry, Madam Anne Waiguru.
This provides a unique opportunity to also appreciate African Women's contribution towards Good Governance, Trade, Investment and sustainable development on the international platform," the statement said.
Waiguru, flanked by other senior ministry officials told the press at a Nairobi hotel on Friday that her success in the ministry was based on taking her work seriously and doing it with a lot of dedication.
She said that she doesn't tolerate mediocrity in her work and advised people who would like to succeed to go a mile further than the normal calling they have for their work.
The award categories included MEAFRIC Business leader of the year, Man of the year, Woman of the year, Dynamic woman entrepreneur of the year, Excellence in business award, Woman entrepreneur of the year, Young business leader of the year, Bank of the year, Indigenous Investor of the year, Innovative Product of the year and Governance awards.
The MEAFRIC Investment Roundtable with the theme "Fostering and Economic Opportunities" was held on the 7th and 8th of May 2015 at Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Other recipients were Rwanda's President Paul Kagame, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Isabel dos Santos, Juma Al Majid, Folorunso Alakija, Patrice Tlhopane Motsepe, Deziani Madueke, Farida Bedwei and the Arab Bank of Jordan.
