General Service Unit (GSU) Recce Squad Company is a Special Forces unit of the GSU comprising of an unknown number of soldiers with its headquarters is located in Ruiru.

Due to its secretive nature in how the Recce Squad execute their operations, their number remains unknown but their results speak louder in all their missions following very rigorous training that the “normal” man cannot stand.

The group was first known when it conducted one of its major operations in Kenya; during the Westgate attack by the al-Qaeda affiliated group, the Al Shabaab.

RECCE Squad training is done in Kenya and abroad. These elite soldiers go through highly regarded military training in countries such as the United Kingdom, Israel and America and once trained, this team of soldiers can be compared with the British SAS, America’s Delta Force, France’s EPIGN.


These are not your normal police, they can actually go to war and give the british sas one hell of a fight. Please do not compare them with that rag tag militia you call an army.

Is it not funny how Tanzanians say "Al-shabaab tu", yet they are a hub of the terrorists. How many Tanzanians have been arrested and killed in Kenya due to terrorism. Tanzania does not have the equipment nor the investigative power to follow its own terrorists. They leave it upto Kenya to cleanup their mess.
