Eti hawa jamaa wenye wivu wanauliza tutawauzia US nini. Hawajui kwamba Kenya huwa tunawauzia US bidhaa nyingi zaidi ya tunazonunua kutoka kwao. Tena bidhaa tunazowauzia kwa wingi ni kutoka kwa viwanda, Kenya ilichangamkia na ikafaidi kweli kweli baada ya ule mkataba wa kibiashara wa AGOA. Kwa mfano mwaka wa 2018 exports za Kenya kuenda USA zilikuwa za thamani ya $644Million na imports za Kenya kutoka USA, $365Million. Takwimu kutoka kwa serikali ya US. 1.AGOA is tarrif free..That's why Kenya can export into USA in relatively large numbers

2. AGOA is expiring.. Any solo trade deal with america is foolish, Kenya offers too small a market for USA for any significant leverge on tarrif breaks.

3.The way to force america to negotiate fairly is to present them with an EAC or Comesa market (160m - 400m people) which is $200b - $600B GDP.

4.Once you make a deal with America, that superceeds any other deal that EAC or Comesa which Kenya is a member makes with USA. Kenya will be stuck with high tarrifs

Tatizo akili huna we kilakitu ushabiki, hivi Kenya kuna kiwanda cha nguo kinachoweza kutengeneza nguo ya kununulika Marekani au ndio biashara ya kupeleka low material? EAC imejaa watu wa wivu..you wanted to hold us back by not signing AGOA extension coz Kenya ndo nchi tu haikua LDC so our goods would be subject to duty if AGOA ended without a new deal. luckily now you're no longer LDC let's wait and see your position now.

Be updated, the US under Trump has chosen to make bilateral deals with individual countries not regional blocs. This trade deal with Kenya once formaly finalised will be a model for all other bilateral trade agreements with other African countries. Furthermore, the EAC countries are not reliable in moving as a bloc, decision-wise, in any setting trade or otherwise and AGOA expires in 2025.

So you now see the logic. Negotiating a solo deal is foolish, 50m people and a 99b GDP cannot yeild tarrif conssesions from USA. You must work with others and not seem to use other's LDC status to advance yourself.

Tanzania is part of SADAC ..A USA - Sadac trade deal is far much more beneficial to TZ because the countries are much richer both in minerals and more developed

US imetupilia mbali wazo la makubaliano yeyote na blocs kama EAC au SADC n.k. Itabidi wangoje zamu yao na ikifikia wakati huo wakichagua kusuasua au wakatae kabisa kujadiliana kuhusu dili lolote lile watajijua wenyewe. Mambo ya kucheleweshana na unafik wa kuhujumiana huku tukiitana mandugu hayana manufaa yeyote kwa nchi ya Kenya. USMCA is a multilateral deal which trump signed, there is nothing special about bowing down to a bully who wants narrow vindictive bilateral deals.Kenya will be the first African country to allow America to divide Africa's market to their advantage. Negotiating as the EAC is better.. But with a saboteur like TZ that has nothing to loose if they have no deal with the US, we may find ourselves in a situation like the one we had with the EU.

Boss, Go get new friends like somalia and Ethiopia. Negotiating a solo deal with america is guaranteed high tarrifs & economic rape. Tanzania has enough friends to work with in SADAC, EAC and comesa. It would have been better but bad enough for the sabouters is that the posibility of a trade deal between US and EAC or SADC is off the table. The trade deal with Kenya will be the model for similar future bilateral with the rest of african nations, so they better start taking notes.
