Kenya’s security forces losing the battle for Somali hearts and mind

..what Kenya is doing in Somalia is too little too late.

..Kenya walikuwa wapi mpaka Somalia ina-desintegrate into anarchy?

..Kenya should have been in Somalia before Uganda and little Burundi got there.

..sasa mnasubiri nini kusafisha Kismayu, au mpaka defence protocal ya EAC ianze kufanya kazi??

JokaKuu, the problem is they are doing nothing. From making so much noise in the social media KDF has now become the underdogs. They have been put squarely under Uganda's command. It sounds a bit strange that President Mwai Kibaki is lauding KDF for "liberating" Afgoye while this has been done by AMISOM. Mt. Kilimanjaro is in Kenya sort of thing. Duh!

Brother Jukakuu - if we are to educate each other, then we must start being objective and put aside this debilitating and unproductive sibling rivalry between Tanzania and Kenya, which in all honesty has no place in any intellectual exchange of equals. Your denigration of the enormous sacrifice Kenyans have made in / for Somalia, not just with the OLN but for the past twenty years of Somalia implosion, is unworthy and unjust. The records does speak for itself. Because we share a critical demography with Somalia, Kenya and Somalia have been tied at the hips since before Independence till the present. In truth, like our brothers South Sudan, Somalia has a a seamless connection with Kenya forged of Kenya's response to their Peoples in their very dire times of need.

The UNSC, and more particularly the decision by IGAD at the time that AMISOM was crafted, ruled that Nations sharing borders and demography with Somalia would not ''formally'' insert Combat Troops into Somalia - the earlier egress by Ethiopia lacked Regional Sanction and so resulted in predictable failure, and was the genesis of the present extremism in Somalia. Last year, KDF deployed to re-energize the AMISOM deployment that had stagnated in a restrictive perimeter Theatre in Mogadishu for five years, which had dangerously emboldened AlShabab, romanticized Alshaabab amongst unemployed youth in East Africa, and exported this radicalization across our Borders. The results of KDF deployment are patently evident. Nevertheless KDF covert operations inside Somalia have been fully engaged for years.

As concerns your imputation that KDF is holding out for assistance from JWTZ, I wish not to give offense by making comment.

Finally, we are not expected to love each other, but we are duty bound to live well with each other.

Delta4,

..Kenya should have protested the UNSC resolution that "prevented" her frm being involved militarily in Somalia.

..U really r proving my point that Kenya did not want[was not ready] to do what was necessary to prevent Somalia frm disintergration.

..Kenya has failed to show any kind of leadership in Somalia, badala yake inatanguliwa na nchi ndogo na yenye matatizo kama Burundi.

..Mwanzo mlikuwa mnajiona mna akili and "business minded" mkipokea fedha chafu[ransom money] za Alshabaab kwenye real estate.

SOC recon probes in Crazy Town & Sector III. Home for quick debrief / R & R. Preps for Chai in ''Chisimayuu'', man! AS hemorrhaging is frightening to behold!.
You watch out for the Rotary Heavies CAS coming in - sent out a general call.

Delta4, while adding weight to your articulation, instead of trying to argue infinitely with pestimists, who even with tabulated facts wants to dance into infinite cycles of needless arguments. They have to be reminded that part of the demographic cultural customs are similar to the former Kenyan Northern frontier District (NFD). KDF seeming Somalia intervention is necessary to reduce the unrest and mischievous tentacles of invalid and barbaric extremism from spilling into its borders.

It is Kenya that shares a common border with Somalia and understand the community's way of life. Is the Gallana, Borana communities found in Uganda? absolutely not, yet Uganda presence is not contravention. Neither are the communities found in Burundi. These communities have lived non-sedentary pastoralist lifestyles crossing borders between Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia. For so long the international community had illuminated the state of Somalia as a failed state. With the local population seen as a hopeless spectacle. One that had reached basket-case-levels economically and desperately curable only via international aid. Even after the misery-filled coordinated incursion between US-ENDF, the song was still the same. AMISOM/BURUNDI/UGANDA, received a bloody-infamous-containment in less than a hundred-by-hundred 100by100 SQ. KM at Mogadishu. All efforts of such pedestrian-miscalculations were designed to bring hope as the end result. But hope and relief came after KDFs incisive operation, one of all-inclusivity. That has made the landscape change forever. The initial crowing international-oversight has changed its tone for the better from viewing the Somalia population as a desperate lot and hopeless spectacle, to a democratically governable country. The same crowing international-oversight, is the one currently rushing to table a constitutional document.

KDF's military effort will forever be the tie that binds events in somalia, whether myopic pessimists want to believe it or not. Militarily, AMISOMS strategic and operational philosophy, is carefully deduced from KDF's tutelage and initial success. KDF and its planners will continue to show keenly future interested parties the required precision and objectivity in handling the Somalia issue. NB. JWTZ, might be interested to have a hand in Somalia. But there is no such allegation of its cooperation with KDF or military assistance in the media or anywhere.
