Kenya says will investigate claims that some EAC members didn't vote for Amina

that's where you fail as kenyans.....politicizing everything.. personally i think it would have been good for the image of kenya and stand on the african continent if amina won..it's high time we start taking those positions

like when, when have they ever united?
I am sure if there had been a strong candidate from East Africa angepita tu. Listening to Amina's campaign speeches, ningeshangaa sana kama angeshinda. There was just something so Kenyan about them; lacked continental vision. It was all about mass exit from the ICC, free trade etc knowing full well not all countries support this

There are 6 kenyans serving time in Ethiopia as we speak

There are 36 kenyans Being held by rebel in SS

lakino wao wako globtrotting looking for a vote ....

The Ls Are still coming

Wangoje August 8th

I specifically like how Aljazeera put it

Amb Amina Mohamed speaks out after AUC loss

Amina attributes defeat to Africa’s division along linguistic lines

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has spoken openly for the first time since she was trounced in her bid to become the African Union Commission chair on Monday.

Amina said Kenya would have to probe allegations that the East African Community abandoned Kenya during the vote that saw Chad’s Moussa Faki Mahamat win the seat during the seventh round of voting.

Speaking in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the CS expressed disappointment that African countries are divided along language lines as the AU vote saw Francophone states face off with Anglophones.

Amina, however, intimated that the vote loss was a good lesson for Kenya moving forward, adding that she would return to continue with her job at the helm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This comes even as newly elected African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat pledged to work with all African leaders in fostering African socio-economic transformation through the African Union and implementation of Agenda 2063.

Speaking moments after he was elected at the helm of the regional bloc, Mahamat stated that he would see to it that Agenda 2063 is implemented.

The strategic framework seeks to accelerate the implementation of past and existing continental initiatives for growth and sustainable development.

Mimi sisemi hii kwakuwa Tanzania tuna ushindani na Kenya, lakini serikali ya Jubilee imekuwa unawabuluza WaKenya kwenye vitu ambavyo sio kwa ajili ya Kenyan interest. Jubilee wanted to take Kenya out of ICC for personal reasons of Uhuru and Ruto, they've campaigned for the whole Africa to pull out of ICC just to cover UhuRuto skins, and Amina was at the centre of that campaign.
Now, Jubilee wanted to place their trusted lieutenant inside AU so that she could hold back any process of reopening ICC case, at the same time they wanted EAC to help them to archive their goal. Duale is just doing a lip-service on that video while he knows that their plan had failed. Amina was not going to represent EAC or Africa, she was supposed to secure the safety of the few powerful people while sinking $3 million tax payers money down the drain.

Amina lost, jubilee is sad, cord is happy. So what, guys move on. In a contest there has to be a winner and a loser. Be of good cheer.
But lesson learnt, francophone are better organised than anglophone.
Just wondering after the 5th round when she won, why was she not allowed to stand on her own for the 36 or so votes required to win.

As if the EAC member states were under obligation to vote for her
Each country votes according to its own interests and not interests of another country. This is the trutha and Amb. Amina should know better and stop blaming those countries that did not vote for her.

Jing* kabisa, why put blames to us for the heavy defeat your fellow Amina got?
She was not fit for the work that is why she got defeated, just bring her back home for the coming general election rather than wasting time and money for the sake of investigating who voted for and who didn't vote for Amina. Acknowledge the defeat please.

One day after Amina not getting the vote, ICC has voted for mass withdrawal of all African countries from the ICC - Imagine if Amina had won those 3 votes, hakungelalika Kenya, everyone would be up the govenment throat complaining how that was the sole reason for sendin Amina there... (So for thosse who were campaigning against Amina because of the ICC issue, yo still loose.)

African Leaders Approve a Strategy for Mass Withdrawal From the ICC

(ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia) — African leaders on Tuesday adopted a strategy calling for a collective withdrawal from the International Criminal Court. The non-binding decision came behind closed doors near the end of an African Union summit.

It was the latest expression of impatience by African leaders with the court, which some say has focused too narrowly on Africa while pursuing cases of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Late last year, South Africa, Burundi and Gambia all announced plans to leave the court, leading to concerns that other states would follow.

For those who are celebrating Amina's loose because she represented the impunity of the Jubelee government Take a look at chads record, Chad 2015/2016
the new AU chair was prime minister between 2003 - 2005 before he downgraded to foreign minister from 2008-2017 (Thats 9 years ) --- he comes from the same ethnicity as the president...

Despite a smaller population (a quarter of Kenya) chad has twice the death rate as Kenya, in 2016 alone there were 70,000 internally displaced people in chad.... 200 civilians were killed out of terrorism in 2016 alone!

So really all those Kenyans who were opposed to Amina bieng the Au chairman for reasons that we will export Kenyan vices to the AU, really???? did you think that far? The former AU chair Dlamini-Zuma is the ex-wife of South African president Jacob Zuma, Get a test of Zumas presidency if you thought Kenya was worse

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His credibility was most severely damaged in March 2016 when South Africa's highest court ruled that he violated the constitution by failing to repay the government for money used on upgrading his private residence, including building a cattle enclosure, amphitheatre, swimming pool, visitor centre and chicken run. The president apologised to South Africans for the "frustration and confusion" caused by the scandal vowed to pay the money.

Mr Zuma's private life has also grabbed the headlines, and has caused much controversy.

Image caption Mr Zuma is a polygamist who has married six times
The 73-year-old is a proud polygamist - following a Zulu tradition - and currently has four wives. He is also known for his infidelity and has fathered a child with another woman.

His political career was written off in the run-up to the 2009 election when he was simultaneously battling allegations of rape and corruption.

He was acquitted of rape, though the corruption case has proved harder to shake off.

He always denied charges of money-laundering and racketeering, stemming from a controversial $5bn arms deal signed in 1999 and had said he would resign if found guilty of wrong-doing.South Africa's President Jacob Zuma - a profile - BBC News

And if you are about to say Dlamini-Zuma is just her ex-wife...... She has left the AU after serving one term, and now she wants to replace her former husband as the next president jumping into politics immediately after heading the AU using her ex-husband's party ----- What if this was happening in Kenya??? this shit woulnt sell

South Africa’s president, Jacob Zuma, has said the ruling ANC party is ready for its first female leader, days after his former wife was named by the party’s influential women’s league as its choice to succeed him.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who has four children with President Zuma, is the head of the African Union Commission and a leading candidate to succeed her ex-husband after the 2019 general election.

Zuma is expected to step down as African National Congress leader at the end of this year, and whoever takes over will be the frontrunner for the presidency.

If you look at the previos chairs of AU you are bound to find that most of them are far from perfect

The truth of the matter is we have missed a great opportunity as Kenya because of being short sighted and too politicized, If we din't want Jubilee, we could have still put up a united front to campaign for Amina (Opposition parties included) --- then the General elections come at the end of the year, we could still have voted Jubilee out and still retained AU chair.. Do you think the likes of Egypt, Nigeria and all the other +25 countries will ever vote for us again (Irrespective of the current government or political dynamic then) if they are not even sure if the EAC region is United?
Since the formation of AU no candidate from EAC has ever led the AU chair, and since we have shown we are not united for whatever reason (even internally as Kenya), this region will never be taken serious, other regions will stick united together no matter which country from that region is fronting a candidate and EA will be the one that always clinging to the choices of other regions.

-----
Now for those who are celebrating Amina's loss as best news ever, The results of AU as a body is still the same ... Maybe if she had won, we as the citizens from the country that AU chairman comes from could have been most vocal if she did something wrong and she would have been forced to always be on her toes in representing African needs and values, because we all know as Kenyans, we can make alot of noise if we want to, and Amina would be too embarrassed if majority of Kenyans were unhappy with her at the continental stage, so she would probably do her best to make sure that doesnt happen....... But now, Chadians have too many problems to be concerned about who is heading that body... Based on the performance of the Chad government which he has served for more than a decade, I don't see AU taking any radicle changes that are going to change how Africa works

what happened when Uganda's contestant got backstabbed by Kenya in Kigali?

Just like SADC abstained this time, Ecowas abstained in the first Elections..... And because they are many countries from Ecowas, the voting dint meet the threshold, Kenya was with Uganda the first time

MY advice to Amina, you lost,... Learn your lessons, your mistakes, accept and move on... Stop counting broken eggs, they are already busted open on the floor, nothing you can do about them now
