That's a World Bank classification, while LDC is a UN classification. Two different sets of criteria.

According to World Bank a country with a GNP of $1,006 to $3,955 is considered a lower middle class country.

A country with GNP of $3,956 to $12,235 is considered an upper middle income country.

Seychelles for example, is a high income country, while Brazil, India, Russia, China and South Africa (BRICS) are upper middle Income countries.

I only mentioned Singapore and such nations as they have always been mentioned, in context of growth and prosperity of Kenya then. Ila nakubali GDP PPP inamatumizi yake in economics lakini mapungufu yake ni mengi. Naeza kukuelezea mapungufu yake ukitaka. Hata China ina GDP PPP kubwa kushinda U.S lakini U.S ina GDP norminal kubwa kushinda China. Najua leo umejifunza kitu kipya.

No, they would have just left us alone, the way they did to Kenya up to 2014. You had all the Characteristics of an LDC, and graduation would have been 2020 if everything went fine. So, practically Kenya is an LDC as of now. We are all poor brothers, let hug each other.

I did not say it is not used totally but for the purpose of country to country comparison, GDP norminal is better preferred. Ngoja nikupostie link from Wikipedia ya GDP hizo mbili ndio ufahamu tofauti. By the way World bank huwa inatumia GDP norminal kucalculate GNI. As I have said, kama GDP PPP ingekuwa soooo important then China ingekuwa the biggest economy in the world na Tanzania ingekuwa bigger than Kenya. But unfortunately for you, GDP PPP is usually used only as an indicator of purchasing power of one country relative to another. Yaani mzungu akiwa na $100 anaeza purchase more goods in T.Z than in Kenya. Or to put it differently goods in T.Z are cheaper than in Kenya
