Where is your evidence that Kenya imports 70% of it's food?Unless you are idiot to think this way, 50% of Kenyan Income goes to the food stuff because Kenya imports nearly 70% of its food. How can you think that Kenya can survive by importing food?, remember any imports involves foreign currency, that means any flunctuation of Ksh is going to affect the price of food, remember the priceS of Petrol and Diesel change every month, that means even the price of unga will change the same.
hold your horses boy,do you want to engage in insults or a sensible argument, having said that which is this food that we import!the meal which most Kenyans consume(staple) is ugali, which comes from maize, the demand for maize in kenya annually is around 5 million tonnes,on a bad season kenya produces around 3 million tonnes importing the rest to bridge the deficit, during bumper harvest kenya barely imports,so which is this 70% we import, but my point is population pressure is shrinking arable land under food crops such as maize which require huge tracts of lands to be profitable, the trick is probably for those small scale holding farmers to diversify into high value cash crops such as ovacados and we can continue importing low value food crops cheaply from big countries such as USUnless you are idiot to think this way, 50% of Kenyan Income goes to the food stuff because Kenya imports nearly 70% of its food. Your President speaks differnt language of yours, that Kenya can't feed itself currently and situation will get worse in future. This is the man Who knows each and everything about Kenya, Stop your denial now and start to be real. Watch and listern to the video clip above.hold your horses boy,do you want to engage in insults or a sensible argument, having said that which is this food that we import!the meal which most Kenyans consume(staple) is ugali, which comes from maize, the demand for maize in kenya annually is around 5 million tonnes,on a bad season kenya produces around 3 million tonnes importing the rest to bridge the deficit, during bumper harvest kenya barely imports,so which is this 70% we import, but my point is population pressure is shrinking arable land under food crops such as maize which require huge tracts of lands to be profitable, the trick is probably for those small scale holding farmers to diversify into high value cash crops such as ovacados and we can continue importing low value food crops cheaply from big countries such as US
stop forcing hearsay to be fact and deal with real facts from say FAO,speaking from which,i have just been looking at their figures for maize/corn production in both kenya and tanzania and the statistics are shocking, total land area under maize production in kenya is 1.5 million hectares with production rate of 3 million metric tonnes, mean while in Tz total land area under maize production is 4.5 million with a production rate of 5 million metric tonnes.note that land in Tz under production is thrice that of kenya yet production is slightly above that of kenya by a small margin.Your

Statements From your President you call them hearsay, real?, are you mentally Ok?stop forcing hearsay to be fact and deal with real facts from say FAO,speaking from which,i have just been looking at their figures for maize/corn production in both kenya and tanzania and the statistics are shocking, total land area under maize production in kenya is 1.5 million hectares with production rate of 3 million metric tonnes, mean while in Tz total land area under maize production is 4.5 million with a production rate of 5 million metric tonnes.note that land in Tz under production is thrice that of kenya yet production is slightly above that of kenya by a small margin.
when you start comparing maize production in kenya with that of tz which has thrice arable land under production and expects equal returns then i start to doubt your mental capabilities.Statements From your President you call them hearsay, real?, are you mentally Ok?
No body mentioned about laziness here, what we are saying is that currently Kenya can't feed itself, it imports food something which is not sustainable and possible for poor County like Kenya to depend on imported food.actually this really vindicates my point using exact same words i had been using, population pressure is shrinking arable land in kenya, kenya is unable to produce food crops due to diminishing lands not because they are lazy, but they have alternatives to diversify which they are doing well.but then again dimishing returns or negative returns is inevitable in economics and agriculture is the ultimate benchmark where it can be apllied, economics is very dismisive, thats why uhuru is dismisive in that clip, but economics looks for alternatives and trade offs, thats is why am telling you those farmers need to diversify to competitive high value cash crops
Are we comparing production per unit area or amout of food in relation to the population if is enogh to feed the Nation or not?. Do you think you still qualify to discuss this topic or it gets too much for you to continue?when you start comparing maize production in kenya with that of tz which has thrice arable land under production and expects equal returns then i start to doubt your mental capabilities.

Whichever reason, but the truth of the matter is"Kenya can't feed itself". It imports food which needs foreign currencies that Kenya doesn't have enough of them, that's why instead of spendind foreign currencies on importing food, Kenya decides to ask for food donations and reserve money for Development projects.
While Uhuru Kenyatta is talking about food scarcity, here Magufuli does not know were to sell the excess

But you still die of hunger and receive food donations yearly, can't you see countries like UAE which decided to go for high value economic activities in oil industries, they get more money to feed themselves and for other projects, actually they buy food and donate to you.it is not like kenya cannot feed itself like you want to put it,it is the fact that arable land is shrinking and it is not sustainable for small scale holding farmers in the long run, which is why they need to diversify to profitable cash crops which earn way more foreign exchange than low value food crops.low value food crops are cheap to produce and cheap to import, just look at the amount of dollars kenya earns from tea, flowers etc and compare them with what Tz earns from food crops.
am more interested in output per unit(average production)i told you resources are scarce and you utilize them to the maximum for efficiency but you can,t understand,it seems to you factors of production are bragging rights.A

But you can't produce them your people are dying yearly. Kenya is in the books of WFP and World in general to be among very few countries on the global which can't feed its people 60yrs after independence,, very humiliating state to fail to feed your family.continuing with production in a flooded market is wastage of resources which are scarce, you see low food crops are cheap to produce
Kenya should strive to import less and export more. We can easily mess up if we go into this blindly. What market will we gain in return? If we allow in their wheat then they must allow our flowers and tea or something else. They should never be given access to our market without a reciprocal favour in return otherwise it is not a negotiation but an exploitation. We need the full details of what benefits we will get before we celebrate.
what you are doing is shifting goal post because you lack content &comprehension of economics, stop diverting attention and let me school you a bit, societal development has different stages in econ, agriculture is the first stage and subsistence farming is the lowest and no society has ever developed through it,it is actually a stepping stone towards acquiring capital and raw materials towards light manufacturing and subsequent heavy industries which lifts people out of those societal ills you are mentioning.now i am telling you for the last time it is not profitable to produce those low value food crops in kenya,we can produce tea, flowers, vegetables etc and earn adequate capital to do other things including manufacturing which will create substantial employmentBut you still die of hunger and receive food donations yearly, can't you see countries like UAE which decided to go for high value economic activities in oil industries, they get more money to feed themselves and for other projects, actually they buy food and donate to you.
Tea, flowers and other hotcultures products produced in Kenya don't have any impact to Kenya's Economy apart from adding figures to your GDP, still people are dying From hunger, unemployment increases, inflation rate keeps rising monthly, cost of living Kenya is the highest in the region, poverty Level is the highest, number of people living in slums is increasing, National debts/gdb is the highest.
Uhuru Kenyatta is disappointed due to the fact that Kenya can't feed itself and that the situation Small get bad worse in future, he doesn't see a light through the tunnel, unfortunatelly you are trying to give us your nonesense stories about high value crops which can't even feed the poor ones.
Kenya can't feed itself, her people are dying of hunger yearly, Kenya receives food donations shamlessly From desert countries like UAE. This is how News across the World go.am more interested in output per unit(average production)i told you resources are scarce and you utilize them to the maximum for efficiency but you can,t understand,it seems to you factors of production are bragging rights.
