Actually the main issue is not safety but market. As I sad said and as you pointed out the market for brand new cars is less than 5% and mostly with Government/Parastatals. Again, kenya is not protectionist like china, the gvt cannot impose tax on new imported cars to preserve the market for mobius.Mobius is a new car. It can't have the standards of Mercedes Benz which were the first company to manufacture cars. Even Japanese cars can't compare to Mercedes but Japanese manufacturers make more profit than Mercedes. Tata still makes non-power steered vehicles (Manual steering) but it makes more profit than Mercedes. Not all vehicles can have the same safety standards and not all countries have the same safety standards either - remember most of the vehicles you buy in Tanzania are actually vehicles that have been rendered unroad worthy in Europe and Japan. Read about these things my friend. Mobius' target market is not Germany yet (though it will reach there sometime). The safety standards of Mobius are very much in line with safety standards of African countries including Tanzania. You need to read and understand these things. Kenya is taking baby steps in vehicle manufacturing while you're there hating - soon the baby will learn to walk and before you know it, will be competing in the Olympics while you're there still importing second hand cars that have been rendered unroad worthy in Japan.πππ

All that to drive people to dump their old card to new one's so that to protect jobs on car industry and also earn foreign currency. Before those used cars are shipped abroad, they reconditioned them to bring them back to its heydays. This means change all safety futures replace them with new one's I will challenge you to name any Tata car of 2016-17 or 18 which was build without power steering.Mobius is a new car. The point is, different countries have different standards for their vehicles. Many vehicles that would be considered unroadworthy in Germany are very good vehicles in Tanzania for instance. Going to your topic that every country has its own safety standards, let me ask you this what I'll be the difference of safety standards in Kenya Tanzania and country like UK Germany or Japan. Are the cars in Kenya allowed on the road without seat belts fitted, are fog light. What about windshield, is any one in Kenya allowed to drive around with broken windshield? Did I say you can drive in Kenya without seat belts? No. You made that yourself. Let me give you a good example in the whole of Europe, America and Canada, all vehicles must have airbags and not just airbags but well tested airbags. Meanwhile in your country, Tanzania, airbags are not mandatory and people import vehicles with no airbags (such as Tata 2518 for instance) or faulty airbags all the time. Now, a Tata 2518 would be unroad worthy in Germany but very road worthy in Tanzania. This means you can get a road worthiness certificate for that vehicle in Tanzania but you can't in Germany. You see now why I say safety standards vary?
Again you're making the assumption that the Mobius has no seat belts, no fog lights, poor suspension and poor braking system just like you made the assumption that it does not have power steering.
