DC throws lavish party; The newly appointed DC for Mbulu in Manyara region, Francis Isaac, gave an ostentatious party on Saturday to celebrate his appointment by President Jakaya Kikwete. Many people were invited to the big do which was held in Singida region with dancing, singing and cultural troupes. Guests drove 100 kilometres from Mbulu led by a police van. A tribal ceremony took place with Isaac donning garbs of a chief all with traditional weapons such as spear, bow and arrows. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda told directors of local authorities to stop allocating funds for procurement of expensive four-wheel drives. While accepting a report for Ruvuma region, Pinda said many local councils spend lavishly on posh cars instead of running development projects such as irrigation schemes.
