A Crane crumbled yesterday and was the cause of the death and damage. Not the building itself having any defects
As far as I am aware, there has never been a major building collapse in Nairobi for a very long time and in almost all cases, it has been a building that was already constructed illegally and thus poorly in the Eastern part of the city.
Could you show me examples of any commercial building that collapsed because of shoddy workmanship, and any in the Western side of the city that has collapsed recently???

The National Construction Authority found that 58 percent of the buildings in Nairobi were unfit for habitation.

So in essence you had to go to 2015 to get buildings, all located in Eastlands to make your claim.
Where is the building that collapsed in the past 6 months as a poster has claimed here??? Or was 2015 6 months ago???
You do realize in Kenya, even those roadside stalls are classified as buildings right?? We count the slum houses too.According to the NCA, Most houses in Buruburu are not fit for habitation as they are considered too small by modern standards btw.
Now Buruburu looks like a typical Tanzanian middle class estate.
When you add the two alone, is it surprising that the ratio is high
If we apply Kenyan standards to Tanzania, then basically 5 percent of your buildings are fit for habitation.
