the economic effect of this port will not be a joke. Any projection on the numbers?
I don't know what's the technical word for it, but as per the masterplan document released by JICA/KPA, lamu port future expansion is not set in stone, they will go step by step as per short and medium term demands, If they see the 1st 3 berths operational and almost reaching 80% utilization, that's when they mobilize resources to build the next (lets say) 3 additional berths... So it could take as little as 2 years before they need to add more berths but if demand doesn't fill the current berths to 80% then they will wait until it reaches that threshold however long it takes.
So although the Lamu port is a Vision2030 project (That's when they project to have constructed all the 32 berths) the caveat is that it will depend on if there is continuous increase in demand before we get to 2030.

Anyway, To answer your question, the projection is 23 million tones by 2030.. but like I said, demand will determine whether additional berths are built or not.

eti tufanye analysis zetu binafsi 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 yani unataka tuketi chini tuanze ku estimate kiwanda flani kinatumia mafuta kiasi gani bila kutegemea data yoyote, Yani wewe na mimi tujitajie tu ma namba bila kutegemea chanzo chochote alafu mwisho wa siku tukubaliane kwamba hio ndo takwimu halisia???? Huko uliko, hua unashinda na kina nani wewe!!!
Huyu carter nimekuja kuona he is a fool. Ndio maana hata nimewacha kudebate na yeye. His reasoning capacity is very low.

Mbona simple tu kusema Hilo..
Wacha kuongea ujinga wewe. Unaharibu hii thread. Hii thread hatutaki wale mazombie wajinga wa thread zingine. Hii ni thread ya heshima na tunataka michango ya kiutu uzima. Either you grow up or you leave this thread. Hatutaki ujinga wako hapa. Eti data ya consumption ya mafuta badala ya kuitoa from the companies themselves on the ground, eti tufanye estimation tu kwa vichwa vyetu? Boss, una utoto na upumbavu mwingi sana. Hio estimation nenda kafanye huko vijiweni.

Okay, bring those data of fuel consumptions from those companies.

You are just giving out empty words, na mbona NBS hawajatoa takwimu za biashara Kati ya Kenya na Tanzania? Can you share the data.. I need to learn something from them.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Lamu today to preside over the handing over of presidential and regimental colours to the Kenya Navy Base Manda.
This means the base has been upgraded.
The presidential colour is the greatest honour bestowed upon a military unit in recognition of exceptional service to the nation during peace and war time while regimental color is a flag bearing the symbols associated with the unit which is carried as a mark of identification.

The event is significant for every unit in the Kenyan military and it is recorded in the unit's history.
According to the military tradition, the whole ceremony is one of the symbolic trust given to a unit/base. Such events are marked on Jamhuri Day and it is not clear if it will be repeated during the celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.
Officials say the colours represent the spirit of the regime.
According to officials, losing the colours leads to the disbandment of the regiment or unit. All infantry units and bases are presented with both presidential and regimental colours.
Normally a presidential colour is trooped when a unit or base performs in a national ceremony or when the commander-in-chief or a foreign head of state is honoured with a guard of honour.
Both presidential and regimental colours are carried by a commissioned officer and escorted by two armed senior non-commissioned officers.
During trooping of the colours, the colours are marched in under escort of the colour party to the edge of the parade, the tweet informs us. It is ceremoniously received by the unit/regimental/base Sergeant Major who hands it over to the colour officers.

The colour officer is of the rank of a Lieutenant and commands the colour party.
The regimental colour is also presented to a unit/base at the same time with the presidential colour and it is displayed whenever the unit/base performs a ceremony for General Officers who are accorded Half Guard Parades during visits.
When a unit/base is designated to troop its colour, it becomes an honour to the regiment/base as it is able to showcase its colours in a ceremony known as “Trooping of the Colour.”
The presidential colour is also trooped on special days such as Jamhuri Day.
“Since both colours stand for the honour accorded to the Unit or Base, they are handled with utmost respect and are saluted as a sign of respect whenever one gets into close proximity to them. It is for this reason that people are asked to stand and those in the disciplined/uniformed services expected to salute whenever the colours pass by,” the Kenya Defence Forces says

‘Mtwara Ports upgrades to save transport costs for Malawi imports’

MALAWIAN Deputy High Commissioner to Tanzania, Deborah Mitawa has said her country will seize opportunities from improvements of infrastructures at the Port of Mtwara to enhance trade through water transport to reduce costs borne by Malawi traders.

She said if Malawian traders will greatly benefit by using the Port of Mtwara, thereby saving the high cost if they use any other port for their imports.

Mitawa made the remarks here on Tuesday during her visit to identify existing opportunities for Malawian traders offered by the port.

“We have identified many opportunities that can be seized by Malawian traders including the unloading of their vehicles, I must assure you that the government will seize fully the opportunities and will work together with you to alleviate costs to Malawian importers,” said the envoy.

Karim Mataka, Deputy Managing Director of Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) said the distance between Mtwara and Malawi via Lake Nyasa will benefit many Malawian traders.

For landlocked countries of Southern Africa; improvements made to the Port of Mtwara is a saviour for them as they will reduce transport costs for their imports.

He said Malawi imports offloaded at the port of Mtwara could be moved to the shores of Lake Nyasa thereby saving great distance if they were offloaded at any other ports.

Lamu Naval base at Manda Bay has been upgraded to the highest possible level. (The same level as Mtongwe base in Mombasa county.) It is only the second Kenyan naval base to reach that status. Lamu port will be more secure now.
