Mchungaji,
Kwa heshima yako leo nilikuwa nimeamua sitochangia maana discourse on JF recently has hit rock bottom na ushabiki mwingi, mara chache naona posts kama za kwako na Mwanakijiji, ila honestly this can be voted as one of the best threads of JF.
Tatizo wachangiaji wengi wamebaki kwenye ushabiki na wameshindwa kusoma 'between the lines". This is the best social commentary about Tanzania as a society. Kama wanavyosema leaders are a reflection of the people who voted them into power. Sasa tunapotaka kujifanya kuwa Rostam is a low life scumbag na hatutaki kukubali kuwa he is a reflection of us, we are not doing our future generation justice.
Kwanza kabisa tubadilike na tuwe serious about ethics, morality etc si tu kwa maneno, kwani vinginevyo ni kheri tumpate Rostam kama rais kwani inaonekana ana qualities that we secretly or openly admire most... He is a go-getter, ruthless, cunning and shrewd person, but it seems people like him thrive in this society! So let him be the king as he has passed with flying colors as kingmaker... hahahaha!
Rev Kishoka, thanks for giving us food for thought and I hope that others will spend more time pondering and thinking deeply about this post once they are past the superficial and oftentimes dishonest 'outrage'.
Dear Susuviri,
I guess we are in deep denial that we do not have any moral compass and we are basically moraless! Imagine a nation where kitu kidogo is a norm and part and parcel of life at all levels. If someone gets picked up by traffic, they start negotiationg their way out kisa, they do not want usumbufu! You break the law and instead of paying the consequences, you are lookign for a way out!
Go in service sector, we are dominated by impatiency and we are ready to provide a chai so our files and cases can be worked as prority instead of addressing the bureaucracy in place. We are accomodating the diseases by finding convenience ways to manage our ways and live our lives bila shida!
Then this becomes a culture and it is deeply embedded into our boods. We need blood transfusion or just geta chemotherapy to wipe out the cells and viruses that have made us so dependent on mambo ya kimjinimjini, bongobongo na fastafasta as way to get stuff.
We as Wananchi have entertained the petty chai and at grand scale they are fisadiing!
My curiosity on Rostam is how in hell he was able to come in as a single person and presented a financial plan-scheme to CCM and it was widely accepted and CCM as whole benefited through his schemes and now they are on top of their lungs disowning him?
If he provided a solution to CCM and they enjoyed his crafty work, then we should employ him as a country to find the solutions to our problems and we will become winners just like CCM!
Tukubali, aliwazidi CCM akili na chama kizima bowed to Mr. Fix It All, now asa country we need to go back to him and employ his services. He got it done in CCM and he will get it done for Tanzania and the only minute we will have luxury to focus on morals will be the minute we all put a halt on paying a traffic buku tano uachiliwe or gunia la mchele kwa fundi wa Tanesco akuunganishie umeme (tena wala si wa halali bali wa kuibia chapchap) bila kufuata taratibu.
You know what, I think this guy will be fit to be the President of Tanzania. He is a savvy, efficient and cunning! If he is the brain wizard who lifted CCM to where it is today by being teh force behind 2000, 2005 and somehow 2010 elections, then he ought to be the CEO of this country.
I am sure if you would have given him the task to resolve the Umeme crisis, he would get it fixed in addition to his "consultancy" fees!
If he is alleged to have outsmarted our Serikali, imagine what he could do to Kenyans with Raila, Kagame, Bashir or even Angela Markel?
Just think about it!
The other issue we need to address as Tanzanians is xenophobia. Had Rostam being a Black Tanzanian not half of the wrath and hate would be directed as he currently experiences. Apart from Rostam's ruthless and cunning techniques, he is not the only one in history and in the current political system who is trying to become kingmaker. Look at some of the comments - "ngozi nyeupe hawezi kuwa rais wetu". What kind of base argument is that? Honestly JF is loosing its edge with such comments!
But back to the issue, apart from the fact that Rostam is light skinned, there is also this whole myth about his role as Iranian spy, yet not much can be substantiated. Judging by the shrewdness of this guy, I think he has contributed heavily to developing this myth about himself, making him almost 'superman' in the eyes of Tanzanians. He is believed to have deep pockets and wide reach in the country, to poison his rivals etc. His ruthlessness is of mythic proportion. Yet for over a decade, I mostly heard people talk of him in admiration, his 'evilness' came after 2006 and 2007 when the rift between the CCJ branch of CCM and wanamtandao of the Triplets grew. Nonethless it seems that he has been mostly used to provide as you mentioned a 'financial plan' for CCM and it seems that he has provided plenty of cash for Kikwete's campaign in 2005 and even in 2010, they turned to Rostam for financing. So if we Tanzanians, continue to accept CCM to remain in power, and accept that the CCM way is the right way (with acceptance of 'chai' 'kitu kidogo' na 'kuishi kimjimjini') then nobody does it best than Rostam Aziz, so hail to the King!
I really hope the mods won't let this thread degenerate to the recent fashionably low level discussion.
Rev. Kishoka,
Mimi nitafanya utani ingawa ndio ukweli na hali halisi. Huwezi kumfanya Rostam rais wakati yeye alikuwa rais wakati wote wa utawala wa JK.
Yani i cant believe that mentality haijabadilika.Wachache sana, lakini wengi wetu bado utumwa wa akili unatusumbua.Haya endeleeni, nchi tumewaachia ila ukweli tutawalima nao.Rekodi ipo,ni kazi ya kizazi kijacho ku judge. The other issue we need to address as Tanzanians is xenophobia.
