KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

A Lawyer was travelling by train from Liverpool to Manchester.

When the train started, he realized he was traveling alone in the business class.

A few minutes later, a beautiful lady came and sat in the opposite seat!

The lady kept smiling at him and eventually she sat next to him .... the lawyer kept bubbling with Joy.

She then leaned towards him and whispered in his ear ...

"Hand over all your cash, cards and mobile phone to me, else I will shout loudly and tell everybody that you are harassing and misbehaving with me"

The Lawyer stared blankly at her!!🙄

He took out a paper and a pen from his bag and wrote

”I am sorry, I can not hear or speak ... Please write on this paper whatever you want to say”

The lady wrote everything that she had said earlier and gave it back to him!

The Lawyer took her note, kept it nicely in his pocket ... got up and told her in clear tones ...

"Now SHOUT & SCREAM!!! "

Now since the children share in blood and flesh, he likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

Hebrews 2:15

and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life.

Hebrews 2:16

Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abraham;

Hebrews 2:17

therefore, he had to become like his brothers in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people.

Hebrews 2:18

Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.

Gospel.

Mk 1:29-39

Mark 1:29

On leaving the synagogue he entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John.

Mark 1:30

Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her.

Mark 1:31

He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.

Mark 1:32

When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons.

Mark 1:33

The whole town was gathered at the door.

Mark 1:34

He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.

Mark 1:35

Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.

Mark 1:36

Simon and those who were with him pursued him

Mark 1:37

and on finding him said, “Everyone is looking for you.”

Mark 1:38

He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.”

Meanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah and were amazed that he stayed so long in the sanctuary.

Luke 1:22

But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. He was gesturing to them but remained mute.

Luke 1:23

Then, when his days of ministry were completed, he went home.

Evening Reflection (QT)

Introduction.

In today’s reading, Paul describes the relationship between wives and husbands to emphasize the oneness of God’s people in union with Christ.

In addressing wives and husbands, he reflects the levels of authority in households that were accepted in Paul’s day.

Reflection.

Today’s reading begins with a key principle with regard to relationships with others (verse 21).

How do you understand the application of this verse in your relationships with others? What do you consider to be important in your relationships with people you know?

Pray

Almighty God, teach me to be obedient to your Word.

In my relationships with others, may all I do and say reflect your love and grace and give glory and honor to you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 5:21-33

Ephesians 5:21

Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Ephesians 5:22

Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body.

Ephesians 5:24

As the church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her

Ephesians 5:26

to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,

Ephesians 5:27

that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 5:28

So [also] husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Ephesians 5:29

For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church,

Ephesians 5:30

because we are members of his body.

Ephesians 5:31

“For this reason a man shall leave [his] father and [his] mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Ephesians 5:32

This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and the church.

Ephesians 5:33

In any case, each one of you should love his wife as himself, and the wife should respect her husband.

Evening Reflection (QT)

Introduction.

Today’s reading opens with Paul discussing household relationships between children and parents and between slaves and masters.

Paul offers encouragement to help the Ephesians remain strong against what he calls “wicked spiritual forces” (verse 12).

Using the metaphor of armor worn by Roman soldiers, he describes the spiritual armor of God that will help them guard against evil, and he exhorts them to pray continually for one another.

Reflection.

What are your thoughts regarding the household relationships described in verses 1-9? Reread verses 14-17. How is God’s armor described?

How can such spiritual armor protect you? What does being clothed with God’s spiritual armor mean to you?

Pray.

Sovereign God, thank you for the gift of your protection.

Empower me with the spiritual resources I need to stand against the devil’s evil tricks and wicked spiritual forces, and clothe me with your righteousness.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:1-24

Ephesians 6:1

Children, obey your parents [in the Lord], for this is right.

Ephesians 6:2

“Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise,

Ephesians 6:3

“that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth.”

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up with the training and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:5

Slaves, be obedient to your human masters with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ,

Ephesians 6:6

not only when being watched, as currying favor, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,

Ephesians 6:7

willingly serving the Lord and not human beings,

Ephesians 6:8

knowing that each will be requited from the Lord for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

Ephesians 6:9

Masters, act in the same way toward them, and stop bullying, knowing that both they and you have a Master in heaven and that with him there is no partiality.

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power.

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil.

Ephesians 6:12

For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.

Ephesians 6:13

Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground.

Ephesians 6:14

So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate,

Ephesians 6:15

and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace.

Ephesians 6:16

In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all [the] flaming arrows of the evil one.

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:18

With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit. To that end, be watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones

Ephesians 6:19

and also for me, that speech may be given me to open my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel

Ephesians 6:20

for which I am an ambassador in chains, so that I may have the courage to speak as I must.

Ephesians 6:21

So that you also may have news of me and of what I am doing, Tychicus, my beloved brother and trustworthy minister in the Lord, will tell you everything.

Ephesians 6:22

I am sending him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us and that he may encourage your hearts.

Ephesians 6:23

Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
