R. (see 5)
Commit your life to the Lord, and he will help you.
Trust in the LORD and do good,
that you may dwell in the land and be fed in security.
Take delight in the LORD,
and he will grant you your heart's requests.

The LORD watches over the lives of the wholehearted;
their inheritance lasts forever.
They are not put to shame in an evil time;
in days of famine they have plenty.
R. Commit your life to the Lord, and he will help you.
Turn from evil and do good,
that you may abide forever;
For the LORD loves what is right,
and forsakes not his faithful ones.
R.
Commit your life to the Lord, and he will help you.
The salvation of the just is from the LORD;
he is their refuge in time of distress.
And the LORD helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.
R. Commit your life to the Lord, and he will help you.
Alleluia

May I never boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.

For the Lord is compassionate and merciful; forgives sins and saves in time of trouble.

Mk 9:30-37
Mark 9:30
They left from there and began a journey through Galilee, but he did not wish anyone to know about it.
Mark 9:31
He was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death he will rise.”

But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to question him.
Mark 9:33
They came to Capernaum and, once inside the house, he began to ask them, “What were you arguing about on the way?”

But they remained silent. They had been discussing among themselves on the way who was the greatest.

Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”

SUMU INAYOMUUWA MWANAUME TALATIBU.!!

Binti akauliza "kazi gani? Niko tayari na niko tayari kufanya kazi yoyote ili tu huyu mwanaume aondoke kwenye maishayangu"

Sawa, mama yake akakubali,

1..Itabidi urejeshe amani kwanza, ili mtu asije akakushuku siku akikutwa amekufa.

6. Usipaze sauti yako dhidi yake bali penda Amani na upendo vitawale ili siku atakapokufa, watu wasikufikirie vibaya waone jinsi gani umempoteza mtu uliyekuwa unampenda...

" Je, unaweza kufanya yote hayo?". Mama yake aliuliza.

"Ndiyo naweza." Alijibu

"Sawa"

"Chukua unga huu na uwe unamwekea kila siku kwenye chakula chake, utakuwa unamuua polepole."

Baada ya siku 30 yule mwanamke alirudi kwa mama yake na kusema.

"Mama sina nia ya kumuua mume wangu tena. Kwa sasa ninampenda kwa sababu amebadilika kabisa, sasa ni mume mtamu sana kuliko nilivyofikiria.Je! nifanye nini kuzuia sumu isimuue? Tafadhali nisaidie mama." Aliomba kwa sauti ya huzuni.

Mama akajibu;

"Usijali binti yangu. Nilichokupa ni Unga wa kawaida tu. Hautamuua. Wewe ndiye ulikuwa sumu ambayo ilikuwa inamuua mumeo polepole kwa mikwaruzano na chuki uliyokuwa umeibeba. Ulipoanza kumpenda, kumuheshimu na kumthamini, ulimwokoa"

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6
R. (40:5a)
Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.
Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD
and meditates on his law day and night.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R. Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.

Morning Reflection (QT)
Introduction
In today’s reading, the story has now jumped from the completion of the Temple toward the end of the sixth century (516 B.C.) to the middle of the fifth century (458 B.C.), and we are introduced to Ezra, a priest and an expert in the Law. He was also in a position of high favor in the court of the Persian emperor, Artaxerxes, during the time following the Babylonian captivity when Jerusalem was rebuilt. Artaxerxes gives Ezra permission to return to Jerusalem along with many Jewish leaders and their families.
Reflection
How is Ezra described? Who was his earliest ancestor? Why was it important for Ezra to teach the laws and regulations to the people of Israel? Are laws and regulations important for communities of faith today? If so, why?
Pray
Holy God, bless all communities of faith as they seek to nurture their members in faith. Guide me in the way of your truth and help me to grow in the knowledge of your teachings.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Ezra 7:1-10
Ezra 7:1
After these events, during the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, Ezra, son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah,
Ezra 7:2
son of Shallum, son of Zadok, son of Ahitub,
Ezra 7:3
son of Amariah, son of Azariah, son of Meraioth,
Ezra 7:4
son of Zerahiah, son of Uzzi, son of Bukki,
Ezra 7:5
son of Abishua, son of Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, the high priest—
Ezra 7:6
this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a scribe, well-versed in the law of Moses given by the LORD, the God of Israel. The king granted him all that he requested, because the hand of the LORD, his God, was over him.
Ezra 7:7
Some of the Israelites and some priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.
Ezra 7:8
Ezra came to Jerusalem in the fifth month of that seventh year of the king.
Ezra 7:9
On the first day of the first month he began the journey up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he arrived at Jerusalem, for the favoring hand of his God was over him.
Ezra 7:10
Ezra had set his heart on the study and practice of the law of the LORD and on teaching statutes and ordinances in Israel.

Evening Reflection (QT)
Introduction
Today’s reading contains the apostle Paul’s advice for Christian living and is reflective of the social structure of his time. He discusses family relationships and the relationship between slaves and their masters.
Reflection
Just as wives are to honor their husbands, so too are husbands to love their wives as much as Christ loved the church (verses 18, 19). And according to what Paul has written here, when slaves serve their masters, they are really serving Christ. Masters, likewise, are to be fair and just in their treatment of slaves (4:1). How does Paul describe the relationship between parents and children (verses 20, 21)? What are your thoughts about today’s reading?
Pray
Lord Jesus, you are the true Master in heaven whom I serve. May all I do this day reflect my love and devotion to you. In your precious and holy name, I pray.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Colossians 3:18-4:1
Colossians 3:18
Wives, be subordinate to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord.
Colossians 3:19
Husbands, love your wives, and avoid any bitterness toward them.
Colossians 3:20
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
Colossians 3:21
Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they may not become discouraged.
Colossians 3:22
Slaves, obey your human masters in everything, not only when being watched, as currying favor, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord.
Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others,
Colossians 3:24
knowing that you will receive from the Lord the due payment of the inheritance; be slaves of the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:25
For the wrongdoer will receive recompense for the wrong he committed, and there is no partiality.
Colossians 4:1
Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, realizing that you too have a Master in heaven.

Evening Reflection (QT)
Introduction
The apostle Paul reminds the Colossians to be persistent in prayer, and he encourages them to treat non-believers in a way that demonstrates Christian love. He concludes the letter with personal greetings to the community of believers.
Reflection
Paul indicates that we are to pray for others and that prayer is a meaningful way to keep us bound together within a community of faith. For whom will you pray today?
Pray
Holy God, I praise and thank you for your mercy, love, and grace. Help me to be persistent in prayer, and draw me close to you. In Jesus’s holy name, I pray.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

that I may make it clear, as I must speak.
Colossians 4:5

Colossians 4:9
together with Onesimus, a trustworthy and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will tell you about everything here.
Colossians 4:10
Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you have received instructions; if he comes to you, receive him),
Colossians 4:11
and Jesus, who is called Justus, who are of the circumcision; these alone are my co-workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me.
Colossians 4:12
Epaphras sends you greetings; he is one of you, a slave of Christ [Jesus], always striving for you in his prayers so that you may be perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.
Colossians 4:13
For I can testify that he works very hard for you and for those in Laodicea and those in Hierapolis.

Colossians 4:15
Give greetings to the brothers in Laodicea and to Nympha and to the church in her house.

And when this letter is read before you, have it read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and you yourselves read the one from Laodicea.
Colossians 4:17
And tell Archippus, “See that you fulfill the ministry that you received in the Lord.”
Colossians 4:18
The greeting is in my own hand, Paul’s. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
