Evening Reflection (QT)
Introduction
This psalm expresses confidence in God’s protection, particularly in times of danger. Those who are faithful are assured of God’s unfailing presence.
Reflection
How does the psalm writer express trust in God’s protection? Reread verses 3-13 and personalize this psalm by replacing the word “you” with “me” or “I” as appropriate and replacing the word “your” with “my.” What verses in this psalm are particularly meaningful to you and why?
Pray
Almighty God, you are my protector and defender. Whenever I am in trouble, I know that you are with me and that you hear me when I call to you. In you, Lord God, I put my trust, and I acknowledge you alone as Lord.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 34:17-18, 19-20, 21 and 23
R. (19a)
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.
The LORD confronts the evildoers,
to destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
When the just cry out, the LORD hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them.
R. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
Many are the troubles of the just man,
but out of them all the LORD delivers him.
R. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.
He watches over all his bones;
not one of them shall be broken.
The LORD redeems the lives of his servants;
no one incurs guilt who takes refuge in him.
R.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.
Verse Before the Gospel
Mt 4:4b
One does not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
Reading I
Wis 2:1a, 12-22
Wisdom 2:1
For, not thinking rightly, they said among themselves: “Brief and troubled is our lifetime; there is no remedy for our dying, nor is anyone known to have come back from Hades.
Wisdom 2:12
Let us lie in wait for the righteous one, because he is annoying to us; he opposes our actions, Reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training.
Wisdom 2:13
He professes to have knowledge of God and styles himself a child of the LORD.
Wisdom 2:14
To us he is the censure of our thoughts; merely to see him is a hardship for us,
Wisdom 2:15
Because his life is not like that of others, and different are his ways.
Wisdom 2:16
He judges us debased; he holds aloof from our paths as from things impure. He calls blest the destiny of the righteous and boasts that God is his Father.
Wisdom 2:17
Let us see whether his words be true; let us find out what will happen to him in the end.
Wisdom 2:18
For if the righteous one is the son of God, God will help him and deliver him from the hand of his foes.
Wisdom 2:19
With violence and torture let us put him to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience.
Wisdom 2:20
Let us condemn him to a shameful death; for according to his own words, God will take care of him.”
Wisdom 2:21
These were their thoughts, but they erred; for their wickedness blinded them,
Wisdom 2:22
And they did not know the hidden counsels of God; neither did they count on a recompense for holiness nor discern the innocent souls’ reward.
Gospel
Jn 7:1-2, 10, 25-30
John 7:1
After this, Jesus moved about within Galilee; but he did not wish to travel in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill him.
John 7:2
But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.
John 7:10
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, he himself also went up, not openly but [as it were] in secret.
John 7:25
So some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said, “Is he not the one they are trying to kill?
John 7:26
And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him. Could the authorities have realized that he is the Messiah?
John 7:27
But we know where he is from. When the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”
John 7:28
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said, “You know me and also know where I am from. Yet I did not come on my own, but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
John 7:29
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
John 7:30
So they tried to arrest him, but no one laid a hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 27:1, 2, 3, 13-14
R. (1a) The Lord is my light and my salvation. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The LORD is my life's refuge; of whom should I be afraid?
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation. When evildoers come at me to devour my flesh, My foes and my enemies themselves stumble and fall.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation. Though an army encamp against me, my heart will not fear; Though war be waged upon me, even then will I trust.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation. I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.
Verse Before the Gospel
Hail to you, our King; you alone are compassionate with our faults.
Reading I
Is 42:1-7
Isaiah 42:1
Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased. Upon him I have put my spirit; he shall bring forth justice to the nations.
Isaiah 42:2
He will not cry out, nor shout, nor make his voice heard in the street.
Isaiah 42:3
A bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench. He will faithfully bring forth justice.
Isaiah 42:4
He will not grow dim or be bruised until he establishes justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait for his teaching.
Isaiah 42:5
Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its produce, Who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk on it:
Isaiah 42:6
I, the LORD, have called you for justice, I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, and set you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations,
Isaiah 42:7
To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.
Gospel
Jn 12:1-11
John 12:1
Six days before Passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
John 12:2
They gave a dinner for him there, and Martha served, while Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with him.
John 12:3
Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair; the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
John 12:4
Then Judas the Iscariot, one [of] his disciples, and the one who would betray him, said,
John 12:5
“Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days’ wages and given to the poor?”
John 12:6
He said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief and held the money bag and used to steal the contributions.
John 12:7
So Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Let her keep this for the day of my burial.
John 12:8
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
John 12:9
[The] large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came, not only because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
John 12:10
And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,
John 12:11
because many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of him.

Anaandika Mohamed Msangi, Mtanzania anayeishi SA
__________

Hivi ndivyo binadamu tulivyokosa utu. Mnakubaliana umpe gari. Baadae unatuma vijana wamuue ili wachukue gari. Huu ni zaidi ya unyama. Halafu tukikutana huko nje mnasema diaspora hatupendani. Tutapendanaje kwa hali hii? Rest easy Mike.!

THE REASON WHY MEN DON'T LIKE TAKING THEIR WOMEN TO EVENTS WHERE THERE ARE FEMALE FRIENDS OR CLASSMATES THEY GREW UP WITH.🤣🤣

Driving back from the event . . . . 🚗

Wife: So those girls are your childhood friends? 🙂.

Me: Yes, Babe; they are . . . . Cool people, yeah?🙂
Wife: You and Nancy look close 🙂.

Me: We go back a long way, you could say that, hahahaha..

Wife: Hmmm . . . . I could tell from the way she hugged you.🙂

Me: What do you mean, Babe?

Wife: I'm just saying the hug looked intimate, something about the way she held you and took time to let go . . . . the way she looked into your eyes.

Me: But Jackie and Mary hugged me too😏

Wife: Not the way Nancy did. You know what ? Let's leave it.

Me: Okay, Babe.

Wife: It's funny how she spent more time talking to you than talking to other guys at the bash. Her jokes are not even funny. 😒

Me: I thought we were leaving it?

Wife: All I'm saying is she must learn to respect other peoples' men in their presence. If I didn't know any better, I would think you were sleeping with her.😒

Me: How did this escalate that far now?😐

Wife: Ohhhh . . . . did I strike a nerve?😏

Me: It's just that I don't see what you are talking about, babe..

Wife: Oh . . . . so you are defending her now?😳

Me: No, I don't know what you are talking about.

Wife: I know what I saw unless you think I'm crazy. 😒

Me: Look at this idiot skipping the traffic light.😳

Wife; Oohhhhh hahaha !!! You're changing the subject now?

Wife: At least he skipped a light. He is not skipping inappropriate hugs from sluts. 😒

Me: How does an irresponsible driver compare to me giving a friend a hug? Really now !!!

Wife: Hehehehe. Do you want her? Am I standing in your way? Let me out of the car, go to her. I'm not stopping you. 😔😒

Me: Baby, have I ever given you reason not to trust me. . . . ?. Ever . . . .? 😏

Wife: 🙄. . . . (folding hands)

Me: Answer me.

Wife: Just drive the car.

Me: Hmmmm.

Silence for 5 minutes.

Wife: (talking to herself) Hmmm . Childhood friend..🤦🏽‍♂️🤣🤣

Responsorial Psalm
69:8-10, 21-22, 31 and 33-34
R. (14c) Lord, in your great love, answer me. For your sake I bear insult, and shame covers my face. I have become an outcast to my brothers, a stranger to my mother’s sons, because zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who blaspheme you fall upon me.
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me. Insult has broken my heart, and I am weak, I looked for sympathy, but there was none; for consolers, not one could I find. Rather they put gall in my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me. I will praise the name of God in song, and I will glorify him with thanksgiving: “See, you lowly ones, and be glad; you who seek God, may your hearts revive! For the LORD hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds he spurns not.”
R. Lord, in your great love, answer me.
Verse Before the Gospel

Reading I
Is 50:4-9a
Isaiah 50:4
The Lord GOD has given me a well-trained tongue, That I might know how to answer the weary a word that will waken them. Morning after morning he wakens my ear to hear as disciples do;
Isaiah 50:5
The Lord GOD opened my ear; I did not refuse, did not turn away.
Isaiah 50:6
I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who tore out my beard; My face I did not hide from insults and spitting.
Isaiah 50:7
The Lord GOD is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; Therefore I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame.
Isaiah 50:8
He who declares my innocence is near. Who will oppose me? Let us appear together. Who will dispute my right? Let them confront me.
Isaiah 50:9
See, the Lord GOD is my help; who will declare me guilty? See, they will all wear out like a garment, consumed by moths.

Matthew 26:17
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus and said, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

Evening Reflection (QT)
Introduction
Solomon succeeded his father, David, as king of Israel. Following the completion of the Temple and the housing of the Covenant Box in the Most Holy Place, Solomon speaks to the people. He tells them that the Lord has kept his promise in having Solomon build the Temple. (The construction of the Temple and bringing the Covenant Box to the Temple are described in 2 Chronicles, chapters 2–5).
Reflection
What was Solomon’s message to the people? What promises did he speak of? In what ways have you experienced fulfillment of God’s promises? The covenant mentioned in verse 11 refers to the covenant God made with the people of Israel on Mount Sinai (Exodus 20:1-17). How does your community of faith experience a covenant relationship with God?
Pray
God of promise, I praise you for your eternal love. May all my actions reflect your love and grace and be a sign of worship to you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
2 Chronicles 6:1-11
2Chronicles 6:1
Then Solomon said: “The LORD intends to dwell in the dark cloud;
2Chronicles 6:2
I have built you a princely house, the base for your enthronement forever.”
2Chronicles 6:3
The king turned and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while the whole assembly of Israel stood.
2Chronicles 6:4
He said: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his own mouth spoke a promise to David my father and by his hand fulfilled it, saying:
2Chronicles 6:5
Since the day I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city out of any tribe of Israel for the building of a house, that my name might be there; nor have I chosen any man to be ruler of my people Israel;
2Chronicles 6:6
but now I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.
2Chronicles 6:7
When David my father wished to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel,
2Chronicles 6:8
the LORD said to him: In wishing to build a house for my name, you did well.
2Chronicles 6:9
But it is not you who will build the house, but your son, who comes from your loins: he shall build the house for my name.
2Chronicles 6:10
“Now the LORD has fulfilled the word he spoke. I have succeeded David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD has said, and I have built this house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
2Chronicles 6:11
I have placed there the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with the Israelites.”
