TanTrade: Wasanii fanyeni utafiti masoko ya sanaa

SERIKALI imetoa wito kwa wasanii kufanya tafiti mbalimbali za mauzo ya kazi zao na kupanga bei stahili ili kukuza na kuendeleza soko la ndani na kupata soko bora la nje.
Akizungumza katika jukwaa la sanaa mwanzoni mwa wiki hii, Mkurugenzi wa Maendeleo ya Masoko ya Ndani wa Mamlaka ya Maendeleo ya Biashara Tanzania (TANTRADE), Edwin Rutageruka, alisema inatakiwa wasanii kukuza soko la ndani ili kufanikisha soko la nje.
Rutageruka alisema changamoto inayolikabili soko la ndani kwa wasanii ni kutothamini kazi zao, ambako sanaa ya Tanzania inapendwa nje kwa vitu kama mti wa mpingo, nguo za Tanzania zinazotengenezwa na malighafi mbalimbali na ufumaji wa vikapu.
Changamoto nyingine zinazoikabili tasnia ya sanaa ya Tanzania ni kupenda bidhaa za nje na kutokuwa wazelendo wa kupenda vya kwetu, mtandao wa usambazaji umekaa vibaya sambamba na tatizo la vituo vya kusambazia.
Aidha, Rutageruka alisema wasanii wa Tanzania hawako tayari kwa soko la nje kwa sababu ya bidhaa zao kutokuwa na ubora, ubinafsi wa wasanii wenyewe, uwezo mdogo wa uzalishaji, kutokuwa na biashara kwa njia ya mtandao, ufungaji wa bidhaa, kuitangaza na kuisambaza na tafiti za masoko.
Alitoa wito kwa wasanii na wasambazaji wa kazi za sanaa kuunganisha nguvu na TanTrade ili kufanikisha maendeleo stahili ya tasnia hiyo ambayo yakifanikishwa ipasavyo tasnia hiyo itapiga hatua ipsavyo.
Rutageruka alisema sababu nyingine inayoshusha maendeleo ya sanaa ni kubweteka kwa wasanii baada ya kupata mafanikio ya awali na baada ya mafanikio ya kwanza wasanii hubweteka.
Naye Katibu Mkuu wa Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa, Ghonche Materego, alisema wamejipanga kuandaa banda la Basata katika maonyesho ya Sabasaba mwaka huu ambalo litashirikisha kazi mbalimbali za sanaa.
Materego alisema banda hilo litaonyesha kazi mbalimbali za sanaa ambalo litafanikisha kazi zaidi za wasanii sambamba na tamasha la Uhuru linalofanyika Desemba ya kila mwaka, ikiwa ni mojawapo ya changamoto ya kukuza na kuendeleza kazi za sanaa hapa nchini.

Tuko Pamoja ndani ya Bilicanas

BAADA ya ziara ya kimuziki katika Bara la Ulaya na Afrika, msanii nyota wa miondoko ya RnB na Bongo fleva nchini, Herry Sameer ‘Mr. Blue' au Kabaisa, anatarajia kuzindua video yake mpya ya ‘Tuko Pamoja' sambamba na kufanya onyesho kali ndani ya ukumbi wa kimataifa wa Club Bilicanas Januari 16.
Akizungumza na Tanzania Daima jana, Mr. Blue alisema katika onyesho hilo ndani ya Bilz atafanya kweli ili kurudisha heshma aliyojijengea kwa mashabiki wake kwa kipindi kirefu.
"Mimi sisemi sana, ila watu waje waone wenyewe mimi ndio ‘Kabaisa' alisema Mr. Blue.
Katika onyesho hilo, Mr. Blue atakonga nyoyo kwa vibao vyake vilivyo katika albamu zake mbili za ‘Mr. Blue' na ‘Yote Heri' huku akitarajiwa kusindikizwa na kundi la B.O.B na Micharazo, makundi ambayo yanaongoza kwa kucheza na kuonyesha uwezo wao jukwaani kwenye maonyesho ya moja kwa moja.
Mr. Blue aliongeza kuwa, nyimbo za ‘Tabasamu', ‘Mapozi' na ‘Unaniumiza' ataziimba sambamba na nyimbo zake mpya ambazo ataonyesha mshangao kwa mashabiki wake ikiwamo kuwaonjesha vionjo na ‘lifestyle'.
Mr. Blue kama atafanya onyesho hilo ndani ya Bilicanas litakuwa ni la kipekee, kwani mara ya mwisho alipiga miaka saba iliyopita ndani ya ukumbi huo, huku video ya nyimbo yake ya ‘Mapozi' iliyotamba katika chati za Bongo nchini aliifanyia ndani ya ukumbi huo kipindi hicho.

Poulsen awapoza Watanzania
• Kesho kuivaa Sudan mshindi wa tano

KOCHA Mkuu wa timu ya soka Tanzania ‘Taifa Stars', Jan Poulsen amewapoza Watanzania kwa kuwaeleza kwamba kushindwa kwa timu hiyo kuingia nusu fainali ya michuano ya nchi za Bonde la Mto Nile kusiwakatishe tamaa kwani timu yake iko katika hali nzuri ila ilikosa umakini kwa baadhi ya mechi.
Poulsen alitoa kauli hiyo baada ya juzi Stars kutoka sare ya kufungana bao 1-1 na Uganda katika mchezo wa mwisho hatua ya makundi katika michuano hiyo, hivyo kuishia kuwania nafasi ya mshindi wa tano kesho.
Poulsen alisema mjini hapa jana kuwa mechi zote ilizocheza Stars, ni makosa madogo ndiyo yaliyoigharimu timu, hivyo kuna haja ya kulifanyia kazi jambo hilo.
Hata hivyo, alisema Stars ilicheza vizuri na kwamba si sahihi kusema ilicheza vibaya, ila ilishindwa kuzitumia nafasi chache ilizopata kufunga na pia ilikosa umakini katika kulinda lango lake.
"Nimesikitishwa sana kushindwa kufuzu nusu fainali, lakini ndivyo soka ilivyo, na jirani zetu Uganda na Kenya wao wameingia, hivyo ndivyo mchezo ulivyo," alisema kocha huyo raia wa Denmark.
Alisema, mechi ya juzi dhidi ya Cranes, Stars ilifanikiwa kuwamiliki vema wapinzani wao, lakini tatizo la umakini hasa katika safu ya ulinzi na pia kushindwa kuzitumia nafasi za kufunga ilizopata kilikuwa kikwazo.
Lakini aliwaomba Watanzania wasikatishwe tamaa na matokeo hayo, kwani bado anajenga kikosi imara kwa ajili ya michuano ya kuwania kufuzu fainali za Afrika mwakani.
Naye nahodha wa Taifa Stars, Shadrack Nsajigwa, alieleza kufadhaishwa na matokeo hayo, lakini akasema ndivyo soka ilivyo, kuna kushinda, kufungwa na sare.
Stars juzi ilifungana bao 1-1 na Uganda katika mchezo wa mwisho hatua ya makundi, matokeo, ambayo yaliipeleka nusu fainali Cranes ikiwa na pointi nne nyuma ya Misri yenye pointi tisa, ambayo juzi iliifunga Burundi mabao 3-0. Stars ni ya tatu ina pointi mbili na Burundi ni ya mwisho ina pointi moja iliyoipata kwa Stars.
Stars katika michuano hii ilifungwa mabao 5-1 na Misri, ikafungana bao 1-1 na Burundi na matokeo kama hayo na Uganda.
Kutokana na kushika nafasi ya tatu Kundi A, Stars kesho itacheza na Sudan ambayo ni ya tatu Kundi B kutafuta mshindi wa tano.
Burundi inabaki kuwa ya saba na timu itakayofungwa kati ya Stars na Sudan itakuwa ya sita, ambazo pia zina zawadi zake.
Nusu fainali inatarajiwa pia kufanyika kesho, ambapo Misri itacheza na Kenya iliyoshika nafasi ya pili Kundi B, huku Jamhuri ya Kidemokrasia ya Congo (DRC), iliyoongoza Kundi B baada ya juzi kuifunga Sudan mabao 2-1 itacheza na Uganda.

ZESCO yatua kuzikabili Simba, Yanga

TIMU ya soka ya ZESCO jana iliwasili nchini ikitokeza Zambia kwa ajili ya michezo miwili ya kimataifa na timu za Simba na Yanga, itakayofanyika katika Uwanja wa Taifa jijini Dar es Salaam.
Akizungumza na Tanzania Daima jana, mratibu aliyeileta timu hiyo, George Wakuganda, alisema timu hiyo imefikia katika Hoteli ya Landmark Ubungo, jijini Dar es Salaam kwa ajili ya michezo hiyo.
Wakuganda alisema ZESCO keshokutwa itaumana na Simba wakati Jumapili itamenyana na Yanga ikiwa ni maandalizi kwa timu hizo za Ligi Kuu Tanzania Bara zinazojiandaa na michuano ya kimataifa.
Aidha, Wakuganda alitaja viingilio vya mechi kati ya ZESCO ya Zambia itakayomenyana na timu za Simba na Yanga za Dar es Salaam, kiingilio cha chini ni sh 3,000 kwa jukwaa la mzunguko.
Wakuganda alisema jukwaa la kijani kiingilio ni sh 5,000, jukwaa kuu sh 10,000 na VIP sh 15,000.
Aidha, Wakuganda alisema viingilio hivyo vitatumika katika mchezo kati ya Simba na Sofapaka utakaochezwa Jumatatu katika Uwanja wa Uhuru jijini Dar es Salaam.
Wakuganda alisema timu hiyo iliwasili nchini jana ambayo imefikia katika Hoteli ya Landmark Ubungo kwa ajili ya michezo hiyo ya kirafiki.

Wadau wamlilia Neema Emmanuel

WANAMICHEZO na viongozi wa netiboli na mpira wa kikapu jijini Dar es Salaam jana walijitokeza katika makaburi ya Kisutu jijini Dar es Salaam kwenye mazishi ya aliyekuwa mchezaji wa netiboli wa timu ya taifa, Neema Emmanuel, aliyefariki dunia juzi katika Hospitali ya Tumaini jijini.
Baadhi ya wanamichezo hao waliongozwa na Makamu wa Rais wa Shirikisho la Mpira wa Kikapu Tanzania (TBF), Phares Magesa, ambaye alisema kifo cha Neema kimeacha pengo kubwa ambalo halitazibika, kwani marehemu alikuwa na uwezo wa pekee katika michezo.
Mbali na Magesa, viongozi wengine waliojitokeza kumsindikiza katika safari ya mwisho ni pamoja na aliyekuwa mwalimu wake aliyemfundisha mpira wa kikapu, Salehe Zonga, huku kwa upande wa viongozi wa Jeshi la Polisi, Damian Chonya, aliwakilisha wanamichezo wenzake wa jeshi hilo.
Marehemu Neema alizikwa sambamba na mtoto wake mchanga ambaye alifikwa na mauti wakati alipokuwa akijifungua.
Marehemu Neema alizikwa kwa heshima za kidini pamoja na kijeshi, kwa kupigwa risasi 12 hewani na kutolewa heshima za kijeshi, ambapo maofisa mbalimbali wa Jeshi la Polisi walijitokeza makaburini hapo.
Mbali na viongozi hao, kwa upande wa viongozi wa Chama cha Netiboli Tanzania (CHANETA) pia walijitokeza kumsindikiza mchezaji wao wakiongozwa na Kaimu Katibu Mkuu, Rose Mkisi, kwa sababu marehemu enzi za uhai wake alikuwa akichezea timu ya taifa na timu mbalimbali za mchezo huo.

Tanzania Stars yang'ara Mapinduzi Zanzibar

TIMU ya soka ya Maveterans wa Tanzania Bara ‘Tanzania Stars' jana ilifanikiwa kutwaa kikombe maalumu cha kusherehekea miaka 47 ya Mapinduzi ya Zanzibar baada ya kuwaadhibu Maveterans wenzao wa Zanzibar mabao 4-1, mchezo uliopigwa Uwanja wa Mao Tse Tung mjini hapa. Katika mechi hiyo iliyokuwa ya upande mmoja, kutokana na Tanzania Stars kutawala kwa dakika zote 90, Stars walijipatia bao la kwanza katika dakika ya tisa kupitia kwa mshambuliaji wake mahiri, Shauri Idd, baada kuchomekewa pasi safi na nyota wa zamani wa Yanga, Ally Yussuf 'Tigana' na mfungaji kuachia shuti lililotinga moja kwa moja nyavuni.
Bao la pili la Stars lilifungwa dakika ya 28 na Mashaka Ayoub, akimalizia kazi nzuri iliyofanywa na Tigana tena na kuachia shuti kali lililomshinda kipa wa Maveterans hao wa Zanzibar, kabla ya mfungaji huyo kuandika bao la tatu katika dakika ya 34, mabao yaliyodumu hadi mapumziko.
Kipindi cha pili, kilianza kwa kasi kwa Mavereans wa Zanzibar kutaka kusawazisha mabao hayo ambapo katika dakika ya 58, beki wa zamani wa Small Simba na Malindi ya Zanzibar, Seif Bausi, nusura aifungie timu hiyo bao baada ya kufanikiwa kuwachomoka mabeki wa Tanzania Stars lakini shuti lake lilikwenda mita chache nje ya lango.
Tanzania Stars walikamilisha karamu yao ya mabao dakika ya 72, kwa bao la nne lililowekwa kimiani na Tigana kabla ya Zanzibar kufunga bao la kufutia machozi dakika ya 82 likifungwa na Hassan Giga.
Katika mchezo huo uliokuwa umeandaliwa na Popular Sports Bonanza Entertainment, mgeni rasmi alikuwa Naibu Waziri wa Habari, Utamaduni na Michezo wa SMZ, Hindi Hamadi Khamis, ambaye aliwataka waandaaji wa bonanza hilo kuweka mkazo katika uanzishwaji wa Ligi ya Wanawake.

TAFCA Mbeya watema cheche

SIKU chache kabla ya kuanza kwa Ligi ya Taifa ngazi ya Mkoa wa Mbeya, Chama cha Makocha (TAFCA) mkoani hapa kimewakumbusha viongozi wa Chama cha Soka mkoani hapa (MREFA) kuhakikisha makocha wanaozifundisha timu zitakazoshiriki ligi hiyo kuwa na sifa zinazotakiwa.

Vigezo hivyo ni pamoja na makocha hao kuwa na vyeti vinavyowathibitisha kuwa na taaluma hiyo huku pia wakitakiwa kuwa wanachama wa TAFCA Mkoa na sio vinginevyo.

Katibu wa TAFCA Mkoa wa Mbeya, Thomas Kasombwe alisema mjini hapa jana, kuwa kumekuwa na tabia kwa baadhi ya klabu kutumia makocha wasio na taaluma na kuwaacha
wanaotambuliwa na chama.

Alisema hali inachangia kuzorota kwa maendeleo ya mchezo na klabu husika na kuchafua pia sifa ya makocha mkoani hapa.

Kasombwe alisema klabu zinapaswa kutambua kuwa sheria inayozitaka kuwa na makocha wenye taaluma na kutambuliwa na TAFCA ipo wazi kwa vyombo vyote vinavyosimamia mchezo wa soka hivyo, kufuatwa na kutekelezwa si jambo la hiari.

Alisema MREFA inapaswa kuhakikisha kigezo hicho kinatimizwa kwa timu zote, kwani iwapo itabainika baadhi yao wanakiuka, TAFCA haitosita kuchukua hatua za kinidhamu ikiwemo ya kuiondoa timu husika katika mashindano hayo.

"Hatuwezi kuivumilia timu yoyote itakayobainika kutumia kocha asiye na sifa. Timu zinawatumia hao na wakiharibu tunapakwa matope makocha wote.

Sasa nawakumbusha wenzetu wa MREFA kama walijisahau wahakikishe hili wanalifanyia kazi kabla ya kuanza kwa Ligi ya Taifa," alisema Kasombwe.

Ligi ya Taifa ngazi Mkoa wa Mbeya inatarajia kuanza kutimua vumbi Januari 14, ikiwa inajumuisha timu 16 kutoka Wilaya ya Mbeya Mjini, Mbeya Vijijini, Mbarali, Mbozi, Rungwe na Kyela.

Dalglish searching for change of luck

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish feels his side are having a run of bad luck at the moment but believes performances are improving despite their 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.
Fernando Torres had given his side the ideal start by firing home in only the third minute but Gary Taylor-Fletcher equalised soon after and DJ Campbell struck the winner with 21 minutes to go as the Seasiders completed a Barclays Premier League double over the Reds.
That came on the back of an FA Cup exit to Manchester United which involved a disputed penalty and a sending-off for captain Steven Gerrard.

"We are disappointed we have come away from the game with no points," said Dalglish.
"We got off to a good start; a couple of good passes and Fernando got in and finished really well.
"Their first goal we were on the verge of breaking clear, misplaced a pass and they turned it around, went up the pitch and got a break of the ball off Daniel Agger before their lad finished well.
"If we had just laid the pass off and collected it and gone up the other end of the pitch we would have walked it in for 2-0 and so if there was a turning point that would be it.
"The second goal we cleared the corner quite sufficiently and then it has come back in and we've not picked up."
Despite back-to-back defeats, Dalglish has been heartened by what he has seen in his two matches in charge.
"It was pleasing to see their commitment and effort when you consider a lot of them played against United for an hour with 10 men," he added.
"We had some good positives but the most positive thing that is going to help the players most of all is to pick up some wins.
"It's all very well being a decent side but every side which has been successful and has ever done anything needs that bit of luck.
"At the moment that has turned against us but the longer we stick in and the less sorry we feel for ourselves the better chance we will have of correcting it.
"It is not just a change of luck, we have a lot of work to do as opposed to being lucky."


Blackpool boss Ian Holloway was understandably delighted with the victory, having beaten the Reds by the same scoreline at Anfield in October.
"It is the best of the lot I think - to go behind so early it could have been a long horrible night but I'm so proud of my lads," he said.
"It didn't affect us and we carried on and got the equaliser and I said to them at half-time that the next goal was vital and we could really knock the stuffing out of them and it happened.
"If you'd said to me at the start of the season we'd get six points off Liverpool home and away I'd have said you were doolally.
"I'd have got you a nice straitjacket and said 'get lost', but we've done it."
Holloway was also bullish about the future of captain Charlie Adam, who has been the subject of what he believes is a derisory £3.5million bid, reportedly from Aston Villa.
"They can shove their bid wherever they like it because if they think he is only worth £3.5million they are watching a different game to the one I am," he said.
"I think he owes us to stay and then he will have a choice as long as his arm.
"I want him to go to a club which is not struggling, it's always been my goal to get him to one of the top five or six clubs.
"If Manchester United ring me up tomorrow and make me a realistic offer I might have to consider it but until then - dream on."

Ligi ya Mkoa Rukwa yakaribia kuiva

CHAMA cha Soka mkoani Rukwa (Rurefa) kimethibitisha kumalizika kwa Ligi ya Taifa katika wilaya tatu na pia kupokea majina ya timu zilizofuzu kwa kila wilaya kuingia hatua ya Mkoa.

Kaimu Katibu wa Rurefa, Adolf Choma amezitaja timu zilizofuzu kuwa ni Mpalamawe FC, Super Stars na Hatutegeki za wilayani Nkasi, Voda FC, Katavi Rangers na Mpanda Stars za Mpanda vijijini pamoja na Mpanda United, Makanyagio FC na Kotazi FC za Mpanda Mjini.

Choma alisema kwa Wilaya ya Sumbawanga mjini ligi hiyo bado haijamalizika kwani zinasubiriwa mchezo kati ya Rukwa United na Polisi FC utakaotoa mshindi wa tatu huku timu za Magereza na Kantalamba zikiwa tayari zimefuzu.

Hata hivyo, Kaimu Katibu huyo wa Rurefa alionesha wasiwasi kwa Wilaya ya Sumbawanga Vijijini juu ya kuendeshwa kwa ligi hiyo kwani hadi sasa uongozi wa soka katika wilaya hiyo haujatoa taarifa yoyote.

Lakini akabainisha kuwa iwapo haitatoa timu Kamati ya Utendaji imeridhia timu zilizo na sifa kutoka wilaya zilizoendesha ligi kupewa nafasi.

Alisema Kamati imefikia uamuzi huo kwa kuwa idadi ya timu zinazopaswa kushiriki Ligi ya
Taifa katika ngazi ya Mkoa wa Rukwa inayotarajiwa kuanza kutimua vumbi Januari 29 ni 15.

"Ligi tunatarajia ianze Januari 29 na mwisho wa usajili wa klabu ni Januari 20. Lakini bado hatuna uhakika kama Sumbawanga Vijijini wameendesha ligi.

Tayari baadhi ya timu zimeleta barua za kuomba kufikiriwa kuingizwa kama nafasi itapatikana. Miongoni mwake ni Kingstone ya Sumbawanga mjini, lakini pia Rukwa United imeomba kuwa iwapo itashindwa katika mchezo wake na Polisi FC basi wafikiriwe pia".

Mancini: Bale would be top target

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini thinks Gareth Bale would be "the strongest target" for leading clubs in Europe if he was made available.
Reports in Italy claim Juventus are keen to sign the Wales winger, who has caught the eye with some sparkling performances for Tottenham this season - including a Champions League hat-trick at the San Siro against Inter Milan.

And Mancini reckons Juve would take a leap in quality if they were to prise the 21-year-old from the north London club.
He said in an interview to Turin sports newspaper Tuttosport: "Last year Bale had already proved his value but his career had not yet taken off.
"Now you would need a lot of money (to sign him). He is a very expensive player. Certainly, Juve with Bale would gain a lot.
"Moreover, what is certain is that if Tottenham decides to put him on the market, Bale would be the strongest target in the summer.
"Perhaps he (Bale) is the only player who is not a striker that can make a difference. Without him, Tottenham loses 50% of their potential."
Bale's contract at White Hart Lane runs to 2014 and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy last month assured fans the club had no intention of selling him.

Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge has joined West Ham on loan until the end of the season in a bid to revive his career.

The 30-year-old left back has dropped down the pecking order at Man City since the arrival of Aleksandar Kolarov and Jerome Boateng in the offseason.
Bridge moved to City two years ago from Chelsea but fell out of favor under manager Roberto Mancini.
West Ham is bottom of the Premier League after a 5-0 loss at Newcastle last week.
Bridge says "there is a lot of quality here and I know we can move up the table."
Bridge was initially a first-team regular at Chelsea after joining from Southampton in 2003, but he later faced competition from England left back Ashley Cole.

Chama hicho kimesema ligi hiyo itaanza rasmi Januari 14 na itashirikisha timu 18, zitakazocheza katika makundi matatu A, B na C ambayo kila mmoja itakuwa na timu 6.

Kila kundi litatoa washindi wawili watakaoshiriki hatua ya Sita Bora. Kwa mujibu wa Makamu Mwenyekiti wa MREFA, John Mwamwaja, Kundi A linajumuisha timu za Bondeni FC, Eagle FC, Tembo Saruji, Zaragoza FC, Ilongo Shooting Stars na Chuo Magereza.

Kundi B lina timu za Mbalizi Super Stars, Ibara SC, Airpot Rangers, Super Marine FC, Tukuyu Stars na Chipukizi, huku Kundi C litaundwa na Eleven Boys FC, Kijiwe FC, Vijana FC, National Ntaba FC, Wenda FC na Buffalo FC.

Mwamwaja amevitaja viwanja tisa vitakavyotumika kuendesha ligi hiyo kuwa ni Vwawa wilayani Mbozi, Uwanja wa Kyela, Tukuyu wilayani Rungwe, Sokoine, Magereza, na Uhasibu vilivyopo Mbeya mjini, Mbalizi Mbeya Vijijini na Rujewa na Ilongo vilivyopo wilayani Mbarali.

Makamu Mwenyekiti huyo alisema maandalizi yote kwa ajili ya ligi hiyo yamekamilika. Lakini alikiri kuchelewa kuanza kwa ligi hivyo kutishia kuchelewa kumalizika tofauti na kalenda ya Shirikisho la Soka Tanzania (TFF).

"Maandalizi ya ligi yetu yamekamilika japo tumechelewa kuanza na mkoa wetu ni miongoni mwa mikoa iliyo na timu nyingi kutokana na uwingi wa wilaya zilizopo hivyo tutachelewa pia kumaliza.

Lakini tumechelewa kutokana na sababu zilizo nje ya uwezo wetu," alisema Mwamwaja.

Birmingham signs Bentley on loan

Birmingham have signed David Bentley on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season.

The former Blackburn and Arsenal midfielder joined Spurs in July 2008 for a fee of £15million, but has struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane.
The 26-year-old underwent a medical at St Andrew's earlier this week and has now completed a deal to join Alex McLeish's side.
Speaking about the deal on Monday, McLeish said: "It will be good to sign him because he has got a bit of quality and class as a footballer.
"His delivery at set-pieces is excellent as well. He is a natural footballer."
Bentley has won seven caps for England, the last of those coming against the Czech Republic in August 2008.
And he also has the honour of being the first Englishman to score at the new Wembley Stadium when he netted for the Under-21s against Italy in March 2007.

Wasanii hao sita ambao ni Barnaba, Mwasiti, Mataluma, Linah, Amin, na Dito wakisindikizwa na wataalamu wa kudansi kutoka kundi hilo waliimba nyimbo zao zote live kwa kushirikiana na bendi ya Odama.

Wasanii hao walianza kwa kujitambulisha kwa staili ya kuimba ambapo msanii mmoja mmoja alikuwa akijitokeza na kuimba kipande kidogo cha wimbo wake huku wakiwa wamevalia nguo nyeupe.

City boss rules out Buffon bid

Manchester City will "never" make a move to sign Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, according to coach Roberto Mancini.

The Italy international was a City target last year, but Mancini believes his team has the goalkeeper position covered by the talented Joe Hart.
Mancini told Turin-based sports newspaper Tuttosport: "The way I see it is that Buffon remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
"But we have decided for some time to point on Hart, who is a young player with enormous potential.
"We believe so much in him to the point of having sacrificed a great number one like (Shay) Given.
"Hence, I can categorically say that we will never make any offers for Buffon."

Michuano hiyo inayokutanisha wachezaji 12 walioshinda mashindano mbalimbali ya taifa ya gofu mwaka jana ilianza juzi na itamalizika leo kwenye viwanja vya Klabu ya Gymkhana Moshi, Kilimanjaro.

Lengo la michuano hiyo ni kumpata mchezaji bingwa kati ya washindi wa mwaka jana na inaandaliwa na Chama cha Gofu Tanzania (TGU).

Roman ambaye anacheza kwenye viwanja vyake vya nyumbani alionesha nia ya kutaka kudhihirisha kuwa yeye ni tishio baada kuonesha kiwango cha juu na kurejea na mikwaju miwili chini ya kiwango 69 jana na hivyo kufikisha jumla ya mikwaju 146 baada ya juzi kupiga mikwaju 77.

Hali hiyo inaonekana kuwakatisha tamaa wapinzani wake ambao amewaacha kwa mbali. Katika nafasi ya pili anafuata mwenyeji Adam Abbas (81,72) na Iddi Mzaki (79,74) kutoka Klabu ya Gymkhana Dar es Salaam ambao kila mmoja ana jumla ya mikwaju 153 ambayo ni saba nyuma ya kinara hivyo, kuwa na wakati mgumu wakielekea raundi ya mwisho leo.

Kinara wa raundi ya kwanza aliyeanza na mikwaju 75 ambaye pia ni Mchezaji Gofu Bora wa Mwaka 2009 Elisante Lembris kutoka Klabu ya Gymkhana Arusha alishindwa kujishikilia kutokana na kurejea na mikwaju 82 ambayo imemuweka kwenye wakati mgumu.

Tanzania falls again in Fifa ranking

Dar es Salaam. The national soccer team, Taifa Stars, have dropped four places in the first edition of the 2011 FIFA world ranking.
Taifa Stars, who succumbed to an embarrassing 5-1 away defeat to Egypt's Pharaohs in one of their latest international matches, now occupy the 120th position.

Algeria and Morocco, who are with Tanzania in Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (AFCON), occupy the 36th (1 down) and 77th (2 up) places respectively.
The Central African Republic, another country in the four-team group, are placed 112th (1 down).
Taifa Stars, trailing the group in the rankings, will have a tall order clashing with the Central African team later this month in their third qualifying tie.

In their first two qualifiers, Jan Poulsen's team forced Algeria to a one-all draw in Algiers before crashing to a 1-0 home defeat to Morocco late last year.
They fared poorly in the on going Nile Basin tournament in Cairo, Egypt where they tumbled 5-1 to the hosts before battling to a one-all draw with Burundi.
In their final Group A match, they drew 1-1 with Uganda Cranes on Tuesday, thus crashing out of the inaugural tournament.
Uganda Cranes top the ranking for the East African countries. They occupy the 83rd (3 down) while Kenya are on 125th (5 down), Rwanda (134th, 2 down) and Burundi (140th , 12 down.

African champions Egypt are the only African team in the top 10, occupying the 10th spot, but have dropped by one place.
As expected, there are no great changes in the top 10 of the ranking.

The 2010 World Cup winners, Spain, for the third year in a row, continue to lead the way, ahead of the Netherlands, Germany and Brazil.
The only change in the top 10 sees Croatia (9th, up 1) and Egypt (10th, down 1) swap places.

Spectacular moves are also thin on the ground further down the ranking, with only 12 teams within the top 50 changing places.
There is greater movement around position 100, where China (79th, up 8) and Qatar (105th, up 9) have made the biggest leaps forward.

The hosts of the 2022 FIFA World Cup recorded a surprise victory over Egypt and are now aiming to break into the top 100. Belarus (37th, up 1), Hungary (41st, up 1) and Antigua and Barbuda (103rd, up 3) have all achieved their highest position since the introduction of the world ranking. The first highlight of the year is currently under way in Qatar, where 16 national teams are vying for the AFC Asian Cup.

All 32 matches will be reflected in the February edition of the ranking and are sure to lead to some reshuffling of the pack.
The Fifa world rankings are determined by points awarded from match results in a three-year period, with more recent games given greater weight. Teams get additional points for playing relatively strong opponents.

Papic, Minziro standoff now deepens Wednesday, 12 January 2011 22:18

Zanzibar. In a new twist of events, newly appointed Yanga assistant coach Fred Felix Minziro will now have to wait a bit longer before joining the team's technical bench, The Citizen can reveal today.

Yanga leadership said here yesterday that the controversy surrounding Minziro's fate would be cleared in a few days.
"As of now, our concentration is on the Mapinduzi Cup. We expect to clear the controversy as soon as possible," Yanga secretary general Lawrence Mwalusako said yesterday. His statement comes in the wake of reports that head coach Kostadin Papic has ignored a proposal by the club that Minziro be his assistant.

The Serbian went on record early this week as accusing Yanga leadership of overstepping their authority when recruiting the former Ruvu Shooting coach as his assistant. "That's new to me, I know nothing about it," Papic said when asked for comment on the Yanga leaders' decision to recruit Minziro. "How can they bring him on board without my knowledge? If that is the case, then I'll never recognise him as my assistant," the Serbian was quoted as saying.

Minziro, who signed a one-year contract with Yanga on January 5, was to head to Zanzibar early this week to join the team.
Yanga were expected to return to Dar es Salaam last night from Zanzibar where they competed in the just concluded Mapinduzi championship.

Mwalusako voiced optimism that a meeting of the club's executive committee tentatively set for this weekend, would come up with a solution to the prevailing stand-off.

For his part, Minziro reacted, "I can't comment on what Papic has said, I respect a decision by Yanga leaders to give me an opportunity to train a team I used to play for during my good old days."

Ipswich 1-0 Arsenal: Priskin stuns Gunners

Arsene Wenger was left fearing Arsenal's wait for a trophy could become a seven-year itch.
The Carling Cup seemed to be an open invitation for Wenger to win his first piece of silverware since the FA Cup in 2005.
And maybe that was Arsenal's biggest problem as their complacency got the better of them and Championship strugglers Ipswich could make Wenger suffer another season without a cup.
Ipswich striker Tamas Priskin scored a stunning breakaway goal in the 78th minute to put the Tractor Boys in dreamland.

Rarely since the glory days of the late, great Sir Bobby Robson have Ipswich had cause to celebrate like they did this, reviving memories of their FA Cup final upset over Arsenal in 1978.
That would be nothing compared to beating Wenger's current side - just three days after Ipswich took a seven goal thrashing at Chelsea in the FA Cup.
But, with incoming boss Paul Jewell watching from the directors' box, Ipswich's caretaker boss Ian McParland inspired a sensational victory over a lacklustre, sloppy and disrespectful Arsenal team.
Disrespectful because they came to Portman Road believing they could win at a canter and even though they enjoyed an incredible amount of possession - 79 per cent according to Opta - they rarely looked like scoring.
Nicklas Bendtner and Andrey Arshavin were particularly bad culprits as they looked disinterested, were wasteful and did not show enough desire.
Cesc Fabregas laboured and toiled in midfield and yet not even the brilliant Arsenal captain could conjure up enough magic to unlock Ipswich's resolute defence.
Ipswich's centre halves Damien Delaney and Gareth McAuley were magnificent and their performances would have made the likes of Terry Butcher and Russell Osman proud.
In truth, Ipswich's young England under-21 striker Connor Wickham, 17, was the most dangerous forward as he tore Arsenal's right back Emmanuel Eboue to shreds down the flank.
It was embarrassing as time and again Eboue was horribly exposed and Arsenal's injury-hit defence was stretched to the limit by Ipswich's counter attacks.
Ipswich clearly raised their game after Roy Keane's turbulent reign and FA Cup humiliation. But Arsenal lowered theirs and incoming boss Jewell must have wished he had taken charge of last night's game after such a stirring victory.
Arsenal, fielding another strong line-up in a clear signal of their intentions to win the Carling Cup, began well enough but they looked off key in the final third.
Ipswich grew in confidence, Wickham caused problems and Priskin ran Arsenal's centre halves Johan Djourou and Laurent Koscielny ragged.
Djourou was the better of the two centre halves even if he was at fault for Ipswich's goal. But it only served to prove that Arsenal desperately need strengthening with Sebastien Squillaci and Thomas Vermaelen out injured.
On this evidence, Arsenal are going to struggle to win the Carling Cup let alone the Premier League.
As Arsenal pressed further forward in search of an opener, it left huge gaps at the back and Priskin broke free in the 62nd minute, lost Koscielny and Djourou made a brilliant last ditch tackle.
Arsenal stepped up their game and Theo Walcott forced a good save from Ipswich keeper Marton Fulop while Fabregas missed a sitter from inside the six yard box in the 76th minute.
Two minutes later, Ipswich enjoyed their moment of glory. Arsenal lost possession in midfield, Colin Healy's ball over the top released Priskin and, while Djourou and Eboue were hopelessly exposed, the Hungarian striker fired home the winner.
Arsenal finally stepped up and launched a late rally. Fabregas set up Walcott and his powerful shot forced a decent save from Fulop as Ipswich were determined to hold on for their famous victory.
It could have got even better for Ipswich as Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny produced a stunning save to deny Carlos Edwards in the 88th minute.
Poor McParland may now get his P45 as reward for Ipswich's glorious night as Jewell looks likely to bring in his own staff. Football is a cruel game as Arsenal also discovered last night as a trophy no longer looks stitched-on this season.
