Asante sana MK254, sio mimi tu, madu wote wa TZ ni warembo. The mistakes happened on contraction of agreements on mining business, it's a lesson learned and are working on it. The Ujamaa helped us in a way each one of us is a land owner by birth in their places of birth. Currently education is free up to STD 7 and that can assure every Tanzanian is able to read and write in Kiswahili.

I have lived in Tz, though I agree Ujamaa helped in cohesion among your people, but in a way it denigrated your way of life. It's very hard to come a across an aggressive and self driven Tanzanian, you're always depending on each other and always expecting to be pushed to perform.

I also saw landless people, am not sure about that concept of everyone owning land there, and also have noticed a few instances of land related violence. In fact major infrastructures, especially buildings in Dar Central Business Area are owned by Indians and Arabs. Most Tanzanian have been pushed into ghettos and slums such as Tandale, Mbagala etc

So I fail to understand what you people talk about when you insinuate that Kenyans have given up the country to the whites. There are facts that needs to debunk you people from those claims. For your information primary education in Kenya is free, right from inception to completion and it's a felony and punishable by court of law for a parent not to take their kids to school. Education is a constitutional right in Kenya.

Hehe, seems you are warming up for me Sky......

Those you met in DSM are people who decide to fight for life in city. In rural areas we do have enough land. Your can be right in a way the majority of us are not that aggressive in life changes, I think the Ujamaa policy did not prepare us for this or lucky of exposure. Talking about poverty in inner city, this is a problem facing even countries with stable economy. For re stance in Britain they had to come with projects such as Sure Start. I can not go in detail in this. Any way the changes from Ujamaa to capitalism were very sudden and in between there lucky of good governance from the bottom to the top.

teh teh
The funny thing is..your country has a larger percentage and number of people living in poverty.

By the way, I've traveled deep into Tanzanian regions and villages, I was working on a project that got me travel to so many places in your country, to be honest to you, I saw real poverty. Yes, you have land, but most of it is under-utilized, not in use.
Take your time to tour your villages dear, you'll realize there is still so much to be done. And this is the same reality even in Kenya, admittedly. Though we have achieved a lot, but we still got a long road ahead of us. I've had opportunity to travel deep into my country too.

Were you working with an International Organisation? I did work in WHO projects before but that was in 1990's. I am from Tanga by the way. We need to do individual changes, kind of finding a way of preserving rain water, using solar power and not wait for government infrastructures if plans are not there yet.

Duh! Tanga, ladies from that region are a gem, they can make a man feel like living in some distant cloud nine. Their accent, the way they speak Swahili with some flavor, I would listen to such a lady all night.
I've had some project in Korogwe municipality in Tanga region.

Jamaa mwenye majungu kiasi..
