Mkuu wa Vituo vya Afrika vya Kudhibiti na Kuzuia Magonjwa Afrika anasema "tunaendelea kubaki na matumaini" kwamba Tanzania itashirikiana kwa kutoa takwimu zake za COVID-19 hata kama Rais wa nchi hiyo alishatangaza ushindi dhidi janga hilo.
John Nkengasong anasema "wanaelewa hali hatarishi na umuhimu" katika taifa hilo la Afrika Mashariki, ambalo halijatoa takwimu za maambukizi ya virusi vya corona tangu mwishoni mwa mwezi Aprili. Idadi ya kesi za Tanzania bado zimekwama kwenye idadi ya 509, wakati viongozi wa upinzaji wakisema kuwa kuna makumi ya maelfu.
Rais John Magufuli katika ibada ya kanisa Jumapili alitangaza kwamba "korona katika nchi yetu imeondolewa na nguvu za Mungu," na aliisifu waumini kwa kutokuvaa barakoa.
Ameonya kuwa barakoa ambazo hazijakubaliwa na serikali zinaweza kuwa na virusi hivyo.

John Nkengasong says “they understand exactly what is at stake” in the East African nation, which has not updated its virus data since late April. Tanzania’s number of cases remains frozen at 509, while opposition leaders have asserted there are actually tens of thousands.
President John Magufuli at a church service on Sunday declared that “corona in our country has been removed by the powers of God,” and he praised the congregation for not wearing face masks. He has warned that masks not approved by the government could be infected with the virus.
