WESTLAND, Mich. -- A 15-year-old boy was arrested after leading police on a chase that ended in a serious crash.

Police said the unlicensed Redford teen was speeding over 100 mph while driving eastbound on Warren at Wayne roads when an officer tried to stop him just before 1 a.m. Tuesday

"The driver at that time gave the finger to the officer and then got back in," said Westland Police Chief Jim Ridener.

The teen driver then led police on a chase, eventually losing control on Merriman Road by going up over a curb across the grass and T-boning a Honda Accord and Ford van that were stopped at a red light.

The drivers who were hit had "no chance whatsoever" to prevent the crash, said Jack McIntyre, head of the Westland police's traffic division. He also said the drivers were lucky to have both been hit on the passenger sides of their vehicles.

Police said the driver of the Honda was treated in a Garden City hospital for serious injuries before being airlifted to Ann Arbor. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries.

The 15-year-old was not seriously injured. Police said he tried to flee the scene of the crash but was apprehended shortly after.

Police said the Mercedes, a high powered S55AMG model that sells for more than $100,000, belonged to his mother's boyfriend and may have been taken without permission.

Police said they smelled marijuana in the car and that the teen will be blood tested.

Police said there were four teens in the car at one point, but two got out and ran away when the car stopped for a brief moment during the chase.

The teen driver is being held by police during the investigation. Any charges brought against the driver will depend on the condition of the Honda driver, and whether he survives.

"It depends on if he had permission to have that car. If he did not, and knew that he did not have permission, he and the passengers could be in trouble," said Ridener.

Ridener said all four in the car could face charges, including car theft.

Police would not be specific on the teen's criminal history, but said he was recently released from juvenile detention.

I think I am.. but well even a seasoned host like me sometimes have to come take a break; hata timu iliyoshinda mechi zote za NFL ilijikuta inapotoza the one that really matters.. the Super Bowl..

Tunamuombea kweli huyu ndugu yetu, tulikuwa naye juzi na kuchat naye sana tu a week ago kwenye kumuombea baba yake Ayubu hapa. Huwa tukikutana ananiambia habari za JF na ni mtembeleaji wa mara nyingi tu. So, we are really pulling for him to make it through.

Tatizo ni kuwa pressure imeongezeka kwenye Ubongo na hilo inafanya mambo mengine kuwa magumu kweli...
