JOB SUMMARY:
Provides laboratory technical assistance, capacity building, training, and quality assessment services to clinical laboratories serving FHI research and public health programs. Experience with TB, HIV and malaria laboratory diagnostics is preferred. Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates who are Kenyan Nationals to fill the above post on a Temporary Fixed Term Appointment initially for one year period. Further extension many be granted subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance and Office needs.
Purpose: Under the guidance of the Chief of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Section, assist in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Government of Kenya/UNICEF Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Programme.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in overall Coordination, Management and Implementation of Water and Sanitation & Hygiene component of WASH programme including Emergency Response in the UNICEF Field office based in Kisumu.
2. Provide effective mobilization and advocacy of Government, partners and community for the programme implementation: especially the relevant Water Service Boards, Ministry of Public Health and sanitation and Ministry of Education.
3. Provide technical support to UNICEF programmes and counterparts in Government, NGO and CBOs partners. Undertake field visits to monitor programmes, as well as conduct periodic programme reviews with Government counterparts and other partners and report on the same
4. Operationalize training and capacity building needs for programme implementation and sustainability at districts and community levels.
5. Support in ensuring distribution of supplies and non-supply assistance for the Government of Kenya.
6. Support emergency preparedness, response and co-ordination of emergency interventions.
7. Participate in inter-sectoral collaboration programmes with other sectors to further programme objectives and achievements. Assist in development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support and/or advocate programme development.
8. Undertake follow-up action on programme implementation activities, contribute to teamwork building and prepare relevant reports
9. Draft relevant required section's Donors, Management and Annual Reports.
Required Qualification: Advanced University Degree in Civil Engineering, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies or Natural Resources Management or equivalent.

Language: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.

The United States Embassy - Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Kenya has a vacancy in Nairobi for Computer Management Specialist The incumbent reports to the Associate Director for Informatics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Kenya with chief responsibility for day-to-day Information Technology (IT) services management and support oversight at the CDC Kenya Offices.
The incumbent will provide advice and guidance on IT management and support services, and develop plans for the maintenance and replacement of IT software and equipment as technology advances. The Specialist is responsible for the integrity and security of all IT equipment, software and data systems and provide instructional training to all CDC Kenya staff on the proper use and security of IT equipment; will also review server system performance for management implications, ensure effective support services by contractors and assist in the formulation of IT operating budgets.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) certification is required. At least seven years progressively responsible work in computer science with four years experience being in server management using MS Exchange Server is required. 2 years of supervisory experience also required. Level IV (fluent) English is required. Must have advanced knowledge in IT administration and software including MS Windows Exchange Server; and must have advanced knowledge of hardware management including servers, personal computers, and peripherals such as wireless network devices, printers and audiovisual devices.
