Kumekuwa na sintofahamu hivi sasa nisemapo maneno haya hasa katika ukanda wa rasi ya Korea ambapo Korea Kaskazini imeendeleza wimbi la vitisho kwa jirani zake na hivi karibuni imetishia kuzitumia silaha zake za nyuklia endapo kutaibuka mashambulizi dhidi yake.

Wakati hayo yakiendelea, Japan imevipokea vitisho hivyo kwa mtazamo tofauti na kutilia shaka afya ya kiongozi wa nchi hiyo Kim Jong-un kutokana na purukushani zinazoendelea nchini Korea Kaskazini.

Kulingana na kauli ya Waziri wa Ulinzi wa Japan Taro Kono, kumekuwepo mienendo ya kutilia shaka nchini humo juu ya afya ya kiongozi huyo wa taifa la Korea Kaskazini hasa katika kipindi hiki cha janga la virusi vya corona linaloikabili nchi hiyo.

Waziri anasema,

"Recent movement in North Korea is quite strange. We suspect COVID-19 is spreading around North Korea and Kim Jong-un is trying not to get infected, so sometimes he doesn’t come out in public. We have some suspicion about his health.”

Kumekuwa na tetesi za hapa na pale kuhusiana na afya ya Bw Kim Jong-un, baadhi wakisema kuwa ni mgonjwa sana huku wengine wakienda mbali na kudai kuwepo kwa mgogoro wa kimadaraka kati yake na dada yake.

He was next "seen alive" 20 days later during a tour of a fertiliser plant in Suncheon.

But the sighting did little to douse the flames of suspicion as footage from the visit appeared to show a small wound on his right wrist, a mark which was not present on his previous public appearance on April 11.

It is speculated that there may be a problem with the power structure in the inner circle in North Korea. In January, a personnel reshuffle at the 5th plenary session of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party raised the possibility that Kim Yo-jong, the sister of Kim Jong-un may have been transferred to the position of first deputy director of the committee with increased authority.

Also, in April, after Kim Jong-un was not seen in public for several weeks, rumors of poor health and even his death arose. They turned out to be false, but it may have led people to think about a power vacuum in North Korea.

Kim Jong-un's absence and Kim Yo-jong's heightened status raised questions about whether there might be power management issues such as the division of roles between Kim Jong-un and Kim Yo-jong or the drafting of a succession plan. [Korea Times]
