Mfano Ulikuwa unayo kalamu baadaye ikapotea kwa mfano siku 2 hivi, hiyo peni akaikota mtu na akakuletea. Kesho yake huyo mtu akaja kwako na ukaanza kumuhadithia habari ya hiyo kalamu.

Angalia tofauti ya "ilikuwa imepotea" na "iliyoisha potea"
Yaani kitendo "gave" katika hiyo sentensi ni near past tense na "had" ni past participle (far past tense)
had lost= iliishapotea
have had been lost= iliyokuwa imepotea, angalia hiyo "been" inawakilisha "iliyokuwa" nadhani unajua hiyo "been" ni derived from auxillary "be" (kuwa).
I suggest you go and study the use of "have had".
