I know exactly what you mean, but do you believe that a common number plate will make someone from Singida chooses to visit Nakuru just because they have same number plate with his/her counterpart? I think its all comes down to money, are the people feeling wealthy enough to jump on their vehicle and cross the border. I'm not sure in past five years how many friend's have you made in Burundi Rwanda Uganda or Kenya, If you have, than you'll be one of the few in a hundred fifty million people. Integration need money circulation, it needs trade volume, common knowledge, and common values.

Nothing shouts EAC than having the common currency (East African Shilling), lakini that's something too radical that might not even ever happen.
However, we have simple things that we could implement which are not as radical, the aim being to give the EAC more visibility. I fail to see ugumu wa kuanzisha mfumo mmoja wa kusajili magari. If possible all countries should switch to this new digital car number plates.
The new number plate should have the EAC flag as well as the letter of the state of registration (TZ for Tanzania, KE for Kenya, UG for Uganda, RW for Rwanda, BR for Burundi and SS for South Sudan). Kwa mfano huu ni mfumo wa namba za magari huko EU:

As you can see kuna bendera ya EU followed by a letter showing the country of origin (In this case GB means Great Britain)

Wanafiki kwa vipi wakati tumesema wazi wazi toka mwanzo kwamba hatutaki license plates za pamoja, kwamba hatutaki kugawa ardhi kwa Afrika Mashariki.

Halafu tukasema, tukatoa tamko with an official, unequivocal statement, kwamba hatutaki ku sign treaty ya zero-tarrif regime with the European Union.

Then we came out in broad daylight, on live Television and said, the Tanzania's aviation authority said that we are going to curtail the Kenya's untrummeled use and misuse of our airspaces, and cut the KQ's flight frequency from 42 flights a week to a disciplined 14.

I mean, we could not be more clear and forthcoming about our mistrust and distate of the old slumbering East African Community.
