East Africa German (Tanganyika) 1/2, 1, and 5 Heller 1904 to 1913
Three states lined the eastern coast of Africa and were under control of three European countries until gaining independence. Today's Kenya was yesterday's British East Africa, today's Tanganyika was yesterday's German East Africa, and today's Mozambique was yesterday's Portuguese East Africa.
The bronze coin design in our picture comes in three denominations: 1/2 heller, 1 heller, and 5 heller. These coins, especially the 5 heller, command good collector value. All dates are about equal in value, except as noted below.
