Protesters block roads at Namanga over repatriation

1)Kenya attained its independence in 1963. In the run up to independence and shortly after, most of the settlers had left the country. The economy thus largely was under the control of the new African administration but not in the hands of the settlers.
Kenya's economy developed considerably well under the first president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta in the late 60s and in the most of the 70s. Kenya was infact reported by the WB as one of the countries with the highest income per capita relative to the majority of the newly independent countries around the world at the time. The economic bloom did not start with Mr. Mwai kibaki, though admittedly the growth was the highest ever achieved in this country's history, but only by one or two percent more than during the Jomo Kenyatta's period

2) It was the ideological differences btwn Kenya and tanzania that rendered both countries incapable of working together, which culminated into boundary closures and the eventual collapse of the first EAC. However, FYI, Kenya's economic troubles had little to do with this antagonism with Tanzania and more to do with what was happening on the global scene...the oil crisis of the late 70s which reverberated accross the world.

3)Burundi is a tiny, impoverished country which is hugely reliant on Tanzania for almost everything, but Tanzania was unable to influence the political outcomes in that country. How then can Tanzania possibly influence the politics of a country as huge and complex as Kenya?
U tried that bullshit once in Uganda when it was still a banana republic to a catasrophic effec, nearly 700,000 died. Tinkering with the internal affairs of other countries in that manner is a really bad idea.

4)Nyerereism must have feed into your heads the lies that Kenya's an imperialist stooge country bent on undermining your immaculate socialist republic; and that Kenya had purloined Tanzania's assets in the EAC, the reason for its collapse.
I believe that's what they taught u in school, the damn ujamaa propaganda.

madaktari kutoka tz wanaotaraji kwenda kenya ,walione hili linaloendlea..

Industrial spies nk.

The problem with Tanzanians is that they were taught propaganda as part of history. Anybody who blames Kenya for the collapse of the EAC in 1977 lives in a bubble. Kenya may have been doing well economically but it had no obligation to bail other countries. The 1970's cables by American diplomats are no longer secret, can you guys go through them and learn why Kenya had to act

Very wise man

Sorry about the late reply, I have been too busy.

We Kenyans do not bear any resentments toward Tanzania or any other country for that matter; not even against the countries we feel are potential threat to us. Example, Kenya is not certain if Somalia has really abandoned its past irredentist policies, but here we are helping reset the state of lawlessness in that country, historical enmity aside.
In the dark years of the cold war betwn Kenya and Tanzania, Tanzanians living in Kenya were not harassed, unlike in Tanzania where Kenyans were often harassed, some even deported all bcos that chasmic east-west ideological nonsense.

Kweli kuna walakini katika elimu yetu, but it is not the walakini of inspiring hate, fear and suspicions against other pipo or countries. Ours is an education that attempts to impart the spirit of tolerance and an open-minded interpretation of issues like conflicts. For example, I mentioned the Sommalia irredentism above; our school history books merely outline the background and context of the whole disagreements betwn Kenya and Somalia. But regarding who was on the wrong or right side of that argument is left for the readers to discern. So are the past Kenyan-Tanzanian disputes.
May I inform u that Tanzanian historical figures such as Nyerere, Kambona and Abeid Karume are talked about in glowing terms in the Kenyan history books.

If the colonialists based in Kenya were plundering your resources, kindly understand that it was not meant for the benefit of the Africans in Kenya. If there were any benefits, then we can say it was peripheral. Also u should understand that during the colonial era in Kenya, schools and hospitals intended for Africans were few and far apart and mostly of inferior quality compared to the European or Asian schools.
But Tanzania was indirectly ruled, meaning the level of oppression against the Africans there was not at all as severe as it was in Kenya, Zimbabwe or SA.

Tanzania's past efforts to liberate the countries still under the york of colonialism is laudable. However, truth be told, it wasnt the factor that led to Msumbiji, Zimbabwe, Angola,SA winning their independence. It was rather a combination of some external factors that forced the end of the minority rule in those countries. Ie the thaw in the cold war, the global economic crisis and in Angola and Msumbiji's case, the Portugal political crisis of the 1970s.

Finally, your musings about surpassing us "soon" is rather amusing. It appears that this is the preoccupation of every Tanzanian- overtaking Kenya. But "soon" it would happen if only Kenya decides to remain stagnant and wait for u to catch up.
Everything Tanzania is rushedly doing now in order to develop its economy......from inviting foreign investments; constructing tall skyscrapers; broad, elevated highways; expansion of modernization of airports and seaports.......they are all duplications of the things Kenya has already achieved. To many Kenyans, the only veritable rival is Ethiopia, nobody here even ever gives Tanzania a thought.
For a very long time, Tanzania will continue playing the second fiddle in the region.

Tuliza jazba we mkikuyu.

Tanzania officials deny expulsion of Kenyans at Namanga border

DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania (Xinhua) -- The government of Tanzania on Friday denied reports by Kenyan media and social media that claimed that President John Magufuli ordered the expulsion of all Kenyans living at the Namanga border in the Tanzanian side last week.
The Kenyan media and social media reported last week that President Magufuli’s order resulted into skirmishes between Tanzanians and Kenyans which lasted for almost two days in the area.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation said the news was false and was aimed at tarnishing the good profile of President Magufuli that has been set so far and the good image of Tanzania in general.

The government of Tanzania requested its Kenyan counterpart to dismiss the falsified news, and instead the two governments concentrate on forging bilateral relations that existed between the two countries, said the statement.

"However, the Ministry of Home Affairs through its Immigration Department conducted an ordinary exercise to deport foreign nationals including Kenyans who live in Tanzania without resident and work permits," said the statement.

The statement said it should be noted that one of the primary responsibilities by the Immigration Department of any country was to make sure that foreign nationals living in a particular country abide with immigration rules, laws and regulations.

The government of Tanzania urged the media to stop spreading falsified information that might cause unnecessary inconveniences to citizens of the two countries, said the statement.

It added that the government of Tanzania was committed to collaborating with the government of Kenya in all areas of cooperation, including partnership projects in the East African Community for the benefit of all citizens in the region.
