Rais awe na utaratibu wa kutoa tuzo/medals

Commendation Awards are awarded by President to leaders and citizens who contributed in the fight for Tanzania mainland independence as well as maintaining tranquility in the country. In 50th anniversary of Tanzania mainland independence celebrated on 9th December 2011, the President of United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya M. Kikwete awarded 57 leaders and citizens for their contribution in fighting for Tanzania mainland independence as well as maintaining peace and security.

Awards were presented in three categories: The first was Mwl. Julius Kambarage Nyerere Award conferred to former presidents who constitutionally came into power and maintained exemplary leadership during their tenure of office. The second award was the Order of Uhuru Torch Second Grade presented to former Vice Presidents and Prime Ministers alive and dead who left office without scandals and maintained ethical conduct.

The last award was The Order of Uhuru Torch Fourth Grade awarded to citizens who portrayed patriotism in 50 years of independence and continued to maintain outstanding conduct. The award is also presented to Defence Forces of the United Republic of Tanzania.

On 51th anniversary of Tanzania Mainland Independent
,the president of The United Republic of Tanzania Dr.Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete awarded 40 medals to outstanding public servants for exemplary service to the nation.The awards were in different categories, including the Order of the United Republic First and Second Class Medal, the Long Service and Ethical Conduct of the First and Second Class Medal, the Sport and Arts Medal and Environmental Medal of the First and Second Class Medal.The other Categories are the Order of Uhuru Torch of the Fourth Class Medal, the Invention and Scientific Research Medal and the Medal for Gallantry.

The Order of the United Republic First Class Medal was given to Dr Mohammed Seif Khatib and Chief Secretary, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue. The the Long Service and Ethical Conduct of the First Class medal was given to Mr Ludovick Utouh, the Controller and Auditor General, Mr Ramadhani Musa Khijja, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.Other medals were The Environmental Medal of the First Class awarded to Dr Felician Kilahama of the Ministy of Natural Resources and Tourism and Mr. Reginald Mengi .

The Sports and Arts Medal went to Ms Fatuma Khamis Baraka,famously known as Bi Kidude, Mr Muhidini Mwalimu Gurumo, and the late Fundi Saidi,famously known as Mzee Kipara, while The Order of Uhuru Torch of the Fourth Class Medal was given to Commissioner General of Prisons John Minja. Other medals were The Medal for Gallantry for overpowering pirates and successfully rescuing a boat with its passengers that had been hijacked by the pirates in Lake Tanganyika won by Eleven military personnel,they are P.5906 Lt Col E. W. Mcheri, PF 15221 ASP Mohammed Kilonzo and MT 97213 Private Ally Simba Hamad, all from Kigoma region.
