Presidente da Tanzânia efectua uma visita de Estado a Moçambique. Já esta quarta-feira Samia Suluhu será recebida pelo Presidente Nyusi na Presidência da República para Conversações Oficiais.
Mozambique and Tanzania have just signed two cooperation agreements in Maputo with a focus on combating terrorism and fighting crime.
Mozambique is currently fighting Islamist militants in the gas-rich northern Cabo Delgado region of the country.
The agreements were signed as part of a four-day official visit that of Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan is making to Mozambique.
In addition to fighting jihadists, President Filipe Nyusi said the two countries were currently focused on the exploitation of hydrocarbons which form the building blocks of vital energy sources like coal and gas.
President Samia also highlighted the need for both countries to strengthen security because of the extensive common border they share
The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is meeting his Tanzanian counterpart this Wednesday at 9:30 am for official talks, as part of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s State Visit to Mozambique, which will end on Friday
An official note received by ‘Notícias Online’ explains that Suluhu’s visit to Mozambique, which lasts until September 23, comes at the invitation of the Mozambican head of state and is part of the strengthening and deepening of historical ties of brotherhood, solidarity and political cooperation, and economic, social and cultural relations between the two countries.
The two heads of state will review the political, economic and social situation in each of their countries, and exchange views on issues of common interest at the level of Southern Africa, the African continent and the world in general

The Tanzanian head of state will in the course of her visit, meet Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Carlos Zacarias and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mozambique Electricity (EDM), Marcelino Gildo Alberto.

Maputo’s combined gas cycle power station was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in August 2018, and was the largest investment by the Mozambican government and state-owned Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) in electricity production in 30 years.
The construction of the Maputo Thermal Power Plant, budgeted at US$180 million, was financed with a loan from the Japanese Development for US$167 million with a payment period of 40 years, leaving the Government to provide the remaining US$13 million. The Japanese support included, in addition to the construction of the plant, the training of EDM staff in operation and maintenance, as well as six years of maintenance services to be conducted by the equipment manufacturer.
