Madrid complete their final session before the Sociedad Match

at Ciudad Real Madrid (Valdebebas)

Real Madrid completed their final training session ahead of the Real Sociedad game (Saturday 4pm CET). Carlo Ancelotti worked with all the players at his disposal, except for Cristiano Ronaldo, who he gave the day off. Modric and Pepe continued with their recovery work.

The session began with some ball possession drills. Split into two groups, the outfield players practiced ball circulation as well as applying pressure on the opposition when without possession. Casillas, Keylor Navas and Pacheco trained separately.

ØDEGAARD MAKES AN IMPRESSION

Straight into working with the senior team on his very first day at the Valdebebas training complex, Martin Ødegaard is clearly no average academy recruit.

Ødegaard will alternate training with the first team and the reserves as, although he will report to Zinedine Zidane, Carlo Ancelotti is not ruling out sporadically calling on his services throughout the season.

Indeed, Martin made a good first impression on his new training companions. "He's very bright, a class act" was the overriding general opinion among those at the Valdebebas training complex on the Norwegian star's performance. Although he had already trained with the first team, – on 8th January, prior to deciding on Real Madrid -Thursday was his first serious session alongside the other members of the first team.

It was Odegaard's intelligence, his speed in reading the game and excellent handling of the ball that struck onlookers. Some likened the youngster to Michael Laudrup, one of the classiest players European football has seen in recent years, who, just like Ødegaard, also hails from northern Europe.

The young Norwegian will be a familiar figure in Ancelotti's training sessions although we will have to wait a while longer to see him make his 'Los Blancos' debut at the Bernabéu.

Neither is he likely to make his first appearance with Zinedine Zidane's Castilla this weekend, when they head to Trival Valderas's home turf to defend their Segunda B Group II lead.
