Varane beats his record for La Liga appearances
The French defender has featured in 16 league matches this season.
Raphael Varane's involvement as a starter in the visit to Elche saw him overtake his best ever total of La Liga appearances in a season. The central defender has now played 16 games, surpassing his tally of 15 from the 2012/13 campaign. During his four seasons at Real Madrid, he has featured in 54 encounters in the Spanish top flight.
In all competitions, Varane has won 25 of the 30 matches he has played in, meaning that he has been involved in more victories this season than any of his other campaigns at the Whites. The Frenchman's previous best was the 21 triumphs that he enjoyed in 2012/13.
