Safaricom Announces Sh 89 Billion pre-tax Profit... More Than Top 30 Tanzanian Companies Combined

A big share of Telkom is also owned by the GOK, the issue with these other Telecoms is that they have not invested in their network coverage.
But Telkom Ke has a future they have really started boosting their coverage, Airtel itabaki tu hapo..they want to make money without spending any.
How do you invest in network when safcom has trade barriers with other companies? This is antitrust / uncompetitive behaviours that would earn safcom hefty fines in serious countries..see how google got a billion dollar fine in EU for uncompetitive behaviour

If GoK owns only 35% then majority of share is privately owned, therefore Safari com is a private company by 65%, that's why is doing fine, the bigger the share of GoK, the bigger the chance of failure, like Mumia sugar Company, Galana kulalu, SGR, KQ, Lamu port. Failed state.

Safaricom is a publicly traded company and doing well.
KQ is also a publicly traded company but not doing well. So I don't know what comparisons you're trying to draw.

You should mention specifics, not just throwing big words.
What exact actions by Safaricom are 'uncompetitive'?

You are mentioning things that are not even companies. SGR, Galana, Lamu are infrastructural projects.
You have a big problem with your comprehension.

Stop being fool, nimetaja miradi ambayo serikali yenu corrupt inafanya, sio lazima iwe company, unashindwa kuzungumzia mambo muhimu unakimbilia vitu vya kijinga, ukiona hivyo ujue umeanza kuishiwa.

Why in any project that your weak and corrupt Government has big say fails?

It is the largest institutional shareholder in Safaricom. Pretty big say.
All other nonsense you can start another thread.

And just as a by the way, here are the roads constructed in by the national government in Kenya between 2014 and 2018..
All 3,028 km of them.

Do you have such a list in Tanzania?

Let us start with SGR, KQ, Galana Kulalu, Mumia Sugar, LAPSET, Kusafirisha crude oil by road, Kujenga pipe line from Lokichar to Lamu, just few to mention. Let's start one by one.

1)Inter network barriers for calls/sms
2) internetwork barriers for mpesa
3)lack of infrastructure sharing mechanism
All these barriers have been erected to protect safaricom..A serious Government should understand that competition is healthy for the telcom sector and such things as suitable land for BTS sites is limited and no operator should own the land exclusively for themselves

BS tupu profit yote inaenda UK, Kenya mnatembeza bakuli la kuomba misaada na mikopo shame on you.

Iv kwann wa kenya mnapenda sana kufanya comparison na Tz Acheni upuuzi wenu iv mtu katoka kenya anawezaje kujua taatifa za ndaniii za bank kama NMB ? The usuall layman school of thought........ Boss... profit is paid out as dividends to the share holders, Safaricom is a publicly listed Company. Stop embarrasing yourself!!!

Mbona mama yako anayo, ndio kusema naye aing'oe?
Don't insult my parent ... Insult me don't dare to involve somebody who is not the subject
Kachukue huduma namba yako

1. What is inter network barriers for calls/sms? Is Kenya the first country where calls from one network to a different network are expensive? It's even more expensive in Tanzania to make calls to different networks than it is in Kenya.
Just because Telkom and Yu are offering free calls, Safaricom is not obligated to follow suit.

2. Sending money from Mpesa to airtel for example is now possible. This is a totally new service in the communication world, and any network would protect their numbers.
Why don't you go telling Western Union to allow you to send to Moneygram?
Or Paypal to let you send to Skrill?

3. What infrastructure are you talking about. When Safaricom ploughs back their profits into digging trenches for fiber, or installing masts in remote areas, or opening a new call centre in Eldoret.. you want them to share that with Airtel? That's nonsense.
Is this a business or charity.
Why don't you tell Tuskys and Naivas to share space while at it.

Also, these barriers were not created. You cannot create what does not exist. If there is no law forcing Safaricom to do or not to do one thing, who is to blame?
I'll tell you, the rest are to blame for not doing it first, or reacting to Safaricom doing it fast enough.

When Safaricom hires land for a mast, what prevents Telkom from doing the same. Heck, what prevented Telkom from doing that first?

Finally, as you look for creative ways to blame Safaricom for its success, remember, even in Tanzania where apparently there is no 'uncompetitive' practice, all telco companies combined are just but a small fraction of Safaricom in terms of revenue.

Sh95 billion paid in taxes to GOK.
Sh50 billion going to shareholders. (35% GOK, 40% Vodafone, 25% Kenyans at NSE)

Don't talk like an ignorant fool.

We don't need any backup from LDC. Safaricom alone makes more profit than your 10 best companies combined.
