Serikali ya Tanzania inatafuta muwekezaji wa kukifufua kiwanda cha kutengeneza matairi kilichopo jijini Arusha cha General Tyre kuhudumia soko la ndani na kanda.

Uhuishaji wa General Tyre East Afrika(GTEA) kilichoanzishwa miaka 55 iliyopita unalenga uzalishaji wa matairi milioni moja kwa mwaka kwaajili ya vyombo vya moto.

Ripoti kutoka wizara ya viwanda na biashara kupitia NDC mwezi June wamesema muwekezaji mpya atakodi kiwanda kwa miaka 33 ikijumuisha makubaliano ya kuongeza mkataba.

GTEA ilianzishwa mwezi Februari mwaka 1969 chini ya ushirikiano kati ya Serikali ya Tanzania na General Tyre ya nchini Marekani kikiwa na uwezo wa kuzalisha matairi 320,000 kwa mwaka wakati huo.

Kilianza shughuli zake mwaka 1971 lakini kilisimama mwaka 2007 kutokana na ushindani sokoni ambapo kulijaa matairi nafuu kutoka nje hasa nchini China.

Mwaka 2012 General Tyre ilifanyiwa ukarabati na ilitarajiwa kingeanza uzalishaji mwaka 2013 na NDC walipewa kazi ya kuifufua ambapo walianza kukarabati miundombinu ya umeme, jengo la utawala na matengenezo mengine.

Ilipoingia Serikali ya awamu ya Tano chini ya Rais Magufuli, Mwezi March 2016 Serikali ilichukua hisa zote za General Tyre na kusema wako mbioni kukifufua. Waziri wa viwanda na biashara wakati huo, Charles Mwijage alisema Serikali ilikuwa mbioni kuanza uzalishaji.

Serikali ilizinunua tena hisa zake asilimia 26 mwaka 2015 kwa shilingi bilioni 2.1 kwa Continental AG ilizouza miaka ya nyuma.

Miezi mitano baadae, Agosti 2016 Serikali ilikacha mipango yake ya kukiendeleza kiwanda cha General Tyre na kusema imejipanga kujenga kiwanda kipya cha matairi. Katibu Mkuu wa wizara ya viwanda, Dkt. Adelhem Meru aliiambia kamati ya kudumu ya Bunge ya hesabu za Serikali(PAC) kiwanda kipya kitajikita kwenye teknolojia mpya.

Meru alisema kiwanda kipya kitakuwa mbadala ya General Tyre na hakuna mpango wa kuifufua General tyre kutokana na mashine za kizamani zilizotumika.

Mwaka 2017 waziri wa Fedha wa wakati huo, Philip Mpango alisema Serikali ilitenga bajeti kwenye mwaka wa fedha 2017/18 kwa ajili ya kukifufua kiwanda cha matairi cha General Tyre, ikiwa ni miaka saba sasa mpango husika ulishindikana kuingia kwenye utekelezaji.

Hadi miaka 33 hadi iishe itakuwa wote tushakufa watakuwa wamebaki wajukuu zetu,na watoto wetu watakuwa wamechoka.
Kibaya zaidi kila rais anayekuja anaachana na proposals za miradi ya awamu iliyopita anaanza upya proposals zake mwisho wa siku miradi mingi inakuwa imeeleaelea tu.
Yaani hii ngozi nyeusi ina laana,wakati wazungu wanaumiza vichwa waunde ndege zisizokuwa na rubani sisi bado tumeganda kwenye mradi ulioanzishwa mwaka 1970.

According to NSSF managing director, Mr Ramadhan Dau, the company owes his office an outstanding debt of Sh15 billion, compelling them to render it for sale.

Mr Dau said that it was imperative to sell the company, as the money obtained would pay back NSSF debt. “We want to safeguard our members’ interests; we cannot achieve this if General Tyre is not delivering,” noted Mr Dau.

Naona Serikali imejaribu kukifufua kwa miaka zaidi ya 10 bila mafanikio..
 
Pesa za nje kiasi gani hutumika kuagiza matairi?..ajira kiasi gani kiwanda kitaleta?..Kodi kiasi gani?..shule ulipitapita!?
Shule nimepita na bahati nzuri Mungu amenijalia kuchungulia mambo kwa kina.
Kiwanda kilikuwepo kisha kikafa.
Sasa jiulize au waulize wamejipangaje kukabiliana na kikwazo kilichofanya kiwanda kikafa awali?kama hicho kikwazo hakijaondolewa means kitakufa tena.
Katika mambo ya kibiashara kabla ya kuanzisha huwa tunafanya cost benefit analysis kujua huo mradi utakuwa na faida ukifanywa au tuachane nao lakini huwa hatufanyi biashara kwa kuwafurahisha watu kupata ajira.
Kwa mentality hiyo ndio maana mashirika ya umma karibu yote yalikufa maana serikali ilikuwa inatoa mishahara tu kwa wafanyakazi lakini hakuna faida inayoingia na bado haohao wafanyakazi wakawa wanaiba,umeelewa?
