SGR Construction in Tanzania - UPDATES

SGR Construction in Tanzania - UPDATES

TZ sgr has been well executed so far. The companies involved have got enviable experience in rail-road projects 🙂 From consultants to contractors...

The kenyan white elephant looks as if no planning is done. They just keep digging the ground like bittles!
Kenya is a failed nation thats why

With my esteem pleasure n reserved demeanor since many Kenyans have turned to be "doubting Thomases" on Tanzania's capability to undertake the project especially on whether phase I n II of 5 phases are currently U/C, i have chosen to open up this thread to just give you people an insight of what is happening on day and night to make sure the line gets to Mwanza and of course to Isaka, Bujumbura n Kampala.

MY TAKE:
Sharing is caring...

The 44 Hungarian-built two-car EMUs entered service in 1982. They are being replaced by a fleet of 83 Matangi EMUs which GWRC ordered from a consortium of Hyundai Rotem and Mitsui in 2007, 2008 and 2013.

The remainder of the 42 Ganz-Mavag units which have been sold will go to Africa once the next batch of Matangi EMUs arrives in Wellington in mid-2015. One unit is to be retained for heritage purposes.

AFRICA: An initial 34 Ganz-Mavag Class EM/ET electric multiple-unit cars which a South African rolling stock broker has acquired from Greater Wellington Regional Council for reuse in Tanzania and Zimbabwe has been shipped from New Zealand.

The 44 Hungarian-built two-car EMUs entered service in 1982. They are being replaced by a fleet of 83 Matangi EMUs which GWRC ordered from a consortium of Hyundai Rotem and Mitsui in 2007, 2008 and 2013.

On arrival in Africa the 1 067 mm gauge EMUs will be converted into locomotive-hauled stock. Some will be changed to metre gauge to operate an airport shuttle service in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, while the rest will be used to reinstate services from Harare in Zimbabwe to the coast, a route served by 500 buses a day.

The remainder of the 42 Ganz-Mavag units which have been sold will go to Africa once the next batch of Matangi EMUs arrives in Wellington in mid-2015. One unit is to be retained for heritage purposes.

They are second hand from 1982 yes?

tuonyeshe terminals... reli.. and 1 train ama ni renders peke....

Ours will beat u with speed! U get to know the meaning of an efficient railway to know what matters most is how fast are the cargo and people are transported from one place to another. By standards that station is very modern even in comparison to most advanced railway nations like Germany and Japan! But at speed of 80 km/h beats the logic it is as if the purpose is to hole up the passenger in those station and not shifting them from one destination to another! That's no brainer!
