IF ONLY MAGUFULI RESPECTED THE INDEPENDENCE OF SUCH INSTITUTIONS but as always he want to meddle everywhere and anywhere like Kenya former president Daniel Moi - creating an unpredictable environment that is not conducive for investment.

This is what ails Tanzania now. Nobody knows how Magufuli will wake up and what he will decide - he obviously is a keen populism and has a keen eye on the short term.

This is why sometimes I think Corruption is not BIG Problem. Most of bad leaders that drive countries into a ditch are normally well-meaning. Nyerere drove Tanzania into bankruptcy. He owned a bicycle maybe? Mugabe was initially incorruptible, usually derided Kenya corruption and he drove Zim into a ditch. We can go on and on.

Magufuli good intentions for TZ are already having adverse effect on the economy.

IMF just don't get the strength of kenya economy and it's currency. So on this they get it wrong. Kshs is freely floating. CBK just like CBT intervene but CBK has an easier job because of the economic balance in kenya.

I even saw some research institution say kenya economic growth is "managed" to average "6%".

Magufuli is struggling because he can control everything in TZ but USD - is kicking his butt. He cannot order the Central Bank to print and the army to distribute it to Tanzanians in their trucks.

Bro unapokuja na issue za kitaalam kama hizi za forex inabidi uwe unaeleza kitu kinachoeleweka. sasa hizo quotes ulizoleta ni bid rates au ask rates, market rates or forward rates, direct or indirect quotes.

There is something fishy going on in TZ only time will tell.

Tanzania's major trading partners (imports) are India, China, UAE, South Africa and Japan. In a one year period, Tanzanian shilling has gained its value compared to the RMB, Rand and Rupee and lost its value (by less than 3%) when compared to the Dirham and Yen.
Those currencies account for about 50% of our imports and exports. So, nothing to be worried about. The KES imports are merely 4% of our trade and keeps on declining.
